Working in a brand new, 12 bed state-of-the-art facility, Bluestone staff will have a unique ability to direct patient care, employ best practices, and join a care network that promotes the best long-term outcomes for patients. POSITION SUMMARY: The Mental Health Technician (MHT) provides direct and indirect patient care under the direction of a registered nurse. The MHT provides for the personal care and comfort of psychiatric patients. In addition, the MHT maintains a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment and participates in performance improvement and continuous quality improvement (CQI) activities. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: Assist clinicians in organizing clients for group counseling, individual counseling and case management in a learning role. Assist in the admissions process, answer patient questions, assist patient in adjusting to the program routine, takes vital signs and records on the Nursing Assessment Form and notifies RN of changes. Act as the liaison between the patient and the nursing and clinical treatment staff to report any changes in the patient's physical or mental condition. Responsible for supervising patients during intensive levels of care with an emphasis on patient safety and well-being. Perform general nursing care, i.e., transferring patients, assisting with ADLs. Monitor patient's compliance with pre and post procedure instructions, under the supervision of the RN. Demonstrate the ability to identify behaviors that require intervention. Provide ongoing feedback about the patient's behavior to the nurse and/or other appropriate health care team members for the plan of care and its reevaluation. Able to perform safety checks at scheduled times, documents appropriately. Responsible for one-on-one observation for High-risk patients. Assist with therapeutic groups under the direction of the RN Communicate appropriately and clearly to the Nurse Executive, RNs, physicians and other team members.
