Job Description
The position of behavior staff will be to take part in working with and teaching children with disabilities as part of a team. The individuals who are chosen to work as a behavior intervention staff will be trained by ABSI's Behavior consultants and Behavior Specialists. All employees will be trained in the basics of Applied Behavior Analysis, specifically a teaching technique called Discrete Trial Training and Natural Environment Training. The training will also include information on how to implement other teaching methodologies that have proven to be helpful with children with autism, in addition to your role and responsibilities, and professionalism. The behavior intervention staff will specifically conduct structured teaching in the family's home and/or school environment. They are to implement changes made to the child's home program/school programs and ensure that they are taking daily data on each program/goal taught. Timeliness is crucial; as is overall professionalism. The objective of the behavior staff is to foster the child's independence across settings and promote success.

Identifies and reinforces patient/family teaching plans.
Conducts routine rounding for patients. Monitors patients and environment for safety. Obtains medication consent forms prior to administering medications, according to regulatory requirements. · Within one year of employment, all direct care staff shall complete both segments of Direct Support Professional (DSP) competency-based training course including the competency tests or pass the department-approved challenge tests applicable to both training segments. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

· Prepare meals and snacks as indicated on weekly menus while involving persons served in meal preparation tasks to the extent that persons served choose to participate.
· Drive persons served to medical and dental appointments, and any outside activities, as assigned by the Program Administrator or program designee.
· Assist persons served to take self-administered, prescribed medications.
· Must participate in monthly supervision meeting with qualified supervisor. This position must be supervised for 5% of qualifying activities each month by BCaBA or BCBA if applicable.
· Maintains integrity and confidentiality of HIPAA compliance and regulations regarding client information and records.

Job Description
Under the direction of a licensed physician, registered nurse, or clinical supervisor, the Psychiatric Technician performs professional therapeutic procedures in the care and treatment of individuals struggling with severe mental illness.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Gives a basic level of general and psychiatric nursing care to mentally ill patients; works with an interdisciplinary treatment team to provide an overall treatment program for the patient;
Under supervision, may perform nursing procedures such as administering medications and treatments, including oral medications, injections, and enemas, taking and charting vital signs;
Observes patients' condition and behavior; reports significant changes to supervisor or physician and documents care and/or treatments in nursing progress notes on patients; prepares patients and cares for them during treatment; gives first aid as needed;
Helps to create a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and recognizes early symptoms/signs of escalation and at risk behavior; uses appropriate interventions including crisis intervention, verbal de-escalation, and alerting other team members;
Implements therapeutic activities and documents patient participation; assists rehabilitation therapists in occupational and recreational therapies for patients;
Motivates patients to develop independence in performing activities of daily living; assists patients with feeding, clothing, toileting, activities of daily living; ensure patients follow safe practices that protect patients and others from personal injury;

Qualifications:
Experience working with children with developmental delays, learning disabilities, autism, or behavior disorders.
Experience in child development, behavioral therapy, early childhood education, infant teaching, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), or a related field is preferred.
Comfortable thinking outside the box, adapting to a changing environment, and maintaining professionalism with the families.
