Treats students and their families with dignity and respect while helping to reinforce a positive and conducive environment for learning. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: * Provides one on one and small group instructions implementing daily and weekly programs as assigned by lead staff as well as assisting students in class routines and transitioning between activities * Uses ABA techniques to develop skills and behaviors as set up by the BCBA in areas of recreation, communication, motor, vocational, and socialization * Reinforce behaviors through the use of positive behavior supports as established by the ABA consultant * Works with new staff through training, modeling, and observation of ABA treatment techniques. Acts as a mentor for ideas and collaboration. * Lifts feeds, toilets, changes diapers, dresses, consoles child during the school day * Collects data, and writes separate anecdotal information on student behavior/progress for collaboration with other staff and instructional purposes * Assists in planning and preparing the learning environment, setting up interest centers and preparing needed materials and supplies, as well as cleaning up after the child completes the activities * May need to travel to assist with the transition in a typical peer placement or go to a student's home to assist with the generalization of the student's newly acquired skills * Participates in in-service training and behavior analysis program training. Attends all staff meetings and recommended training programs and/or conferences. * Exercises tact, discretion, and confidentiality while assuring the safety and welfare of all individuals in the clinic EDUCATION: Required Minimum Education: 2 year Associates Degree', or must have at least 48 equivalent semester hours towards a post-secondary degree. Specialty/Major: Autism related preferred. Preferred Education: 4-year bachelor's Degree Specialty/Major: Autism related preferred. LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS: Required: Registered Behavioral Technician through the State of Ohio, Psychology board. BTs would be responsible for responding to crisis situations during their shift and often responsible for managing and assessing the interventions of staff (e.g., QBS protocol). While BTs will primarily be working with BCBAs, they will also be expected to work well within the multidisciplinary team. They will also need to communicate and work collaboratively with the Residential Unit Coordinators, Residential Supervisors, Program Coordinators, and clinicians of various disciplines (e.g., Occupational Therapists, Psychotherapists, Speech Therapists, Recreation Therapists, Health Educators, Dietician, Physical Therapists, etc.) depending on the client's programming. BTs would work with clients on community transportation goals (e.g. cabbing, busing, and walking with them) and would help clients in developing their own social networks in the community. They would be available to provide pre-teaching, goal setting, and to provide feedback with the goal to significantly improve social skill sets and eventually increase their social networks outside of Eisenhower Center. They would input Incident Reports for their units. Estimated 8-10 hours per week would be spent on data entry. There are a mix of BT schedules as the idea is to have coverage on the campus so that a BT is available if needed to assist managing crisis situations or difficult client behaviors. Scope of Work The Behavior Technician will report to the Board-Certified Behavior Analyst and Board-Certified assistant Behavior Analyst at Beaumont's Center for Exceptional Families. The Behavior Technician shall be responsible for implementing behavior analytic interventions for individuals diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disabilities. Qualifications * Candidate must possess a high school diploma or GED. * Preferred experience in childcare or work with children with special needs, mental health related experience or education, interest or class work in Allied Health Degrees. * Candidate must be certified by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board as a Registered Behavior Technician, currently enrolled in Registered Behavior Technician training, or commitment to complete Registered Behavior Technician training at the Beaumont Exceptional Families Autism Center and obtain certification as a Registered Behavior Technician. * Exposure to individuals with autism spectrum disorders and other developmental disabilities preferred. * Ability to model intervention for trainees and patients' family members. * Basic Life Support required within six months of start date.
