Job Summary The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) is a member of the multi-disciplinary treatment team that provides direct care to behavioral health patients working under the medical direction of a Registered Nurse (RN). The BHT is also responsible for the safety of the unit they are assigned to, including identifying environmental and patient specific safety concerns, and elevating those concerns to the RN, RN Manager, Operations Supervisor, or designee, as needed. Utilizes intervention and communication skills in working with clients, their families and significant others daily and in crisis. Rigorously adheres to all Joint Commission policies and procedures, including Waived Testing, Infection Prevention and Control, as well as Emergency Management and Environment of Care procedures. Proficiently navigate and utilize the BestNotes electronic health record system to document client activities effectively Collaborate with the program nurse and clinical team regarding medication management, and monitor and report client behavior with medication side effects. Monitor and document client self-administration medications while coaching clients in self-management and documenting medications in accordance with the organization's policy on medication use. Maintain the integrity of the residences, ensuring optimal cleanliness at all times and keeping the area hygienic. Conduct orientation to new residents, including reviewing safety drills and locations of fire extinguishers, emergency evacuation diagrams, exit routes, evacuation procedures, and first-aid kits Facilitate recovery and clinically indicated activities and groups according to organization policy and document into the electronic health record. Conduct observation rounds, as needed to ensure client safety, and document client behavior and participation in treatment. Effectively and correctly report these in daily passdowns. Seeking upbeat and experienced school based behavioral aides to come and work for one of our local schools located in Alexandria, VA. This is a role that will be working 1:1 as well in group settings with kids who are needing the extra support. You will be supporting challenging behaviors and doing de-escalations. There will be a mandatory Crisis prevention training to complete before your first day on the job.
