Primary Function
Behavioral Health Technician (BHT), or psychiatric technician, provides direct care and support to patients with behavioral and emotional disorders in various settings like hospitals, clinics, and addiction treatment centers. BHTs implement treatment plans, observe client behavior, and assist clients with daily activities, often under the supervision of nurses and other mental health professionals.
Duties and Responsibilities
Provide hands-on care and support to patients exhibiting behavioral or emotional challenges.
Continuously observe and document patient behavior, alerting supervisors to any changes or issues.
Implement behavioral interventions and treatment plans developed by therapists and other treatment team members.
Assist clients with daily activities, communication, and adherence to their treatment programs. Responds to a variety of inquiries of varying complexity by using knowledge and an understanding of established policies, procedures, and practices for safeguarding information (HIPAA, PHI, PII), including maintaining confidentiality of all company proprietary information.
Proactively multi-tasks on a variety of assignments; provides thorough work while maintaining a sense of urgency based on program needs.
Maintains professionalism, ethical standards, discretion, candor, privacy and confidentiality of all company proprietary information, meetings, communication, and documents, including implementation of policies and procedures consistent with those of the organization.
Thoroughly exercise skill in initiative, judgment, problem-solving and decision-making daily.

Has undergone a federal investigation at the level of Tier 2 or higher; has been granted favorable suitability/eligibility and has not had a break in service for more than 24 months.
DHS or ICE detention center experience.

The Behavioral Health Technician is a member of the multidisciplinary team, who is directly involved in providing quality care for clients. The Behavioral Health Technician is responsible for providing structure and support services for the clinical team treating adults with substance abuse diagnosis and/or co-occurring disorders. All responsibilities will fall under the core functions of providing client supervision and ensuring client participation in services. Work is performed in accordance with established regulations, policies and procedures, and State and Federal Regulations, however employees are expected to exercise significant initiative and independent judgment in carrying out their duties.
Specific Areas of Responsibility:
Must be able to learn company policies and procedures related to position quickly and effectively upon hire and when company policies and procedures are updated.
Demonstrates adaptability and flexibility to changes in the work environment.
Follows Infection Control Guidelines at all times.
Completes and forwards copy of Incident Reports and any other safety / risk issues to the BHT Supervisor when involved or when witnessing and incident or safety/ risk issue.

Assists in emergency situations as directed.

Maintains supply list for assigned buildings (as requested).
