Job Summary
The Supplemental Physical Therapist assesses patients, develops and initiates treatment plan based on the results of the evaluation. The evaluation may include measurements of neuromuscular and skeletal functions. The incumbent documents findings, progress and provides instruction to patients and caregivers. The therapist will provide recommendations and assists physical therapists and management team with program development. The therapist will be responsible to serve as resource and mentor; oversees the development, guidance and training of assistants, students, interns and rehabilitation technicians with regards to individual patient care.
A physical therapist practicing direct access will examine and evaluate a patient's current conditions which may result in identification of movement and mobility dysfunction. A physical therapist practicing direct access will not diagnose an illness or disease. If a medical diagnosis has already been established by a qualified healthcare practitioner, the physical therapist will take it into consideration during the evaluation process.Job Description

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's or graduate degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited university-based Physical Therapy program.
Licenses/Certifications: Current license to practice Physical Therapy by Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners or by the Physical Therapy Compact Commission. Current certification in Basic Life Support.
A physical therapist practicing direct access:
Education: Doctoral degree along with a residency or fellowship program, or licensed therapist with 30 hours of continuing competence activities in differential diagnosis.
Licenses/Certifications: Current license to practice Physical Therapy by Texas Board of Physical Therapy Examiners or by the Physical Therapy Compact Commission.
Experience / Knowledge / Skills:
One (1) year of experience preferred.
Demonstrates ability and willingness to mentor/train staff or supervise clinical interns/students.
Provides clinical leadership and demonstrates increasing expertise for a particular patient type/group or enhances an existing clinical program for that particular patient type/group.
Serves as a clinical resource for hospital and/or system or departmental committee/task force or initiates and/or provides leadership in an ongoing departmental interest/study group.
Designs and implements original staff development program which facilitates the clinical competencies of other staff members.
The position requires occasional/frequent lifting of up to 75/100 pounds and carrying of up to 30 pounds; prolonged standing; frequent walking, stooping and squatting.
Fine hand dexterity, eye-hand coordination, the ability to receive oral and written communication, and to communicate verbally and in writing are also necessary.
The visual ability to monitor instruments, computers and equipment, recognize alphanumeric characters, distinguish colors and observe physical characteristics are essential to this position.
Ability to commit to elected commitment schedule, with flexibility in scheduling and in moving within patient care areas when necessary.
Principal Accountabilities
For physical therapist practicing direct access, requires one year of experience.
Assumes responsibility in the care of the patient. Performs complete, comprehensive evaluation of patients with a physician's referral.
Accurately interprets evaluation findings.
Completes a written plan of care, develops goals based on evaluation findings, and develops a comprehensive program to attain goals.
Implements a physical therapy treatment program and provides advanced physical therapy treatments. Demonstrates competency in performing advanced physical therapy skills.
Responsible for patient care performed by assistants and rehabilitation technicians. Assesses patients regularly to monitor progress towards treatment goals, and alters goals, plan or program as indicated.
Motivates and instructs patient/caregiver using appropriate methods.
Communicates effectively with patients/caregivers, professional colleagues to include physicians and insurance companies. Manages time effectively.
Documents appropriately in the medical record and completes other documentation duties accurately and efficiently.
Serves as clinical resource to staff, hospital, and/or system or departmental committee/task force. Provides leadership in an ongoing department interest/study group.
Demonstrates increasing expertise in treatment of a particular patient population.
Acts as clinical instructor to PT and PTA interns.
Assists in program development within the department and/or assists with clinical competencies.
Assists in supervision of support staff.
Actively participates in organized community service/functions as a representative of the profession.
Presents relevant special topics in professional literature at clinic meetings, grand rounds, conferences, university settings and meetings as delegated or requested by the faculty.
Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor and resource to less experienced staff.

What You'll Do

Provide 1:1 therapy in a clinic-based day program for children with autism and other developmental disabilities
Implement individualized treatment plans created by a BCBA
Track and record daily treatment via Central Reach
Assist BCBA to implement behavior reduction and skill acquisition treatment plans

JOB DESCRIPTION
The Registered Behavioral Technician will provide clinical skills instruction and behavior reduction protocols based upon the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to children with Autism and related developmental disabilities in Company Centers. The Registered Behavioral Technician will collect data on programs, assist with parent training, and assist the BCBA and with clinical assessments as needed. The Registered Behavioral Technician is primarily responsible for using science-based practices that require proper protocols to create, implement, and repeat learning opportunities (trials) with clients, and documenting the childs progress and responses. The Registered Behavioral Technician will perform job tasks under the supervision of a BCBA, use prompts and positive reinforcement with clients, and help clients to develop and build skills that will allow them to be as independent as possible throughout their lives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Provides direct client care in one on one and group settings while utilizing a combination of discreet trail training and natural environment training

Plan and deliver reading intervention programs to address dyslexia and related disorders. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

2. Follows the guidelines related to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), designed to prevent or detect unauthorized disclosure of Protected Health Information (PHI).
3. Promotes a culture of safety for patients and Associates through proper identification, proper reporting, documentation and prevention of medical errors in a non-punitive environment.
4. Make environmental rounds with incoming shift daily. Responsible for environmental log sheet. Keep patient room unit environment neat and orderly.
5. Takes vital sign and blood sugar as ordered. Responsible for reporting abnormal readings to charge nurse. Responsible for documenting vital signs in the medical record.
6. Monitors hallways according to Behavioral Department guidelines; make rounds every 15 minutes with close attention to special precautions.

8. Search patient belongings and do visual body search on admission, using the wand. Responsible for documentation of patient valuables and belongings.

10. Responds effectively with a patient at the defensive level with a directive approach by setting limits, making sure limits are clear, simple and enforceable.
