Full-time Description
Summary/Objective
The BehaviorTechnician works directly with preschool-aged children to support positive behavior, social-emotional development, and individualized learning needs. Under the supervision of the Education Manager, the BehaviorTechnician implements behavior intervention plans, supports teachers in classroom management, and ensures that each child is provided with a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment.
Essential Functions
Implement individualized behavior intervention plan under the guidance of the Education Manager and the Individual Support Specialist
Establishes & maintains therapeutic relationship by pairing self as a reinforcing entity and building the value for the client of social interaction with the BT
Prompts safe and socially acceptable replacement behaviors in order to build a repertoire of communication, social interaction, and problem solving skills
Fades prompts appropriately to promote both successful and independent responding
Increases the frequency or duration of safe and appropriate replacement behaviors by providing access to reinforcers (desired items/actions, attention, or removal of demands/aversive situations)
Accurately collects behavior data including: A-B-C, count, frequency, duration, latency, inter-response time, event, and interval based recording
Follows the treatment plan goals and interventions utilizing sound judgment and seeks out appropriate consultation
Model and reinforce appropriate social skills, communication, and coping strategies
Collaborates with family and treatment team members to provide treatment effectively and without disruption to the environment or other individuals in the environment
Educate parents on reinforcement and early intervention information
Educates all those involved about the role of ABA-based interventions and the BT, and functions within boundaries of the BT role in providing treatment
Reassessment as appropriate
Participates in team meetings and professional development to enhance behavior support skills
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines and program policies
Ensure a safe, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment
Other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Requirements
Required Education and Experience
Two years of completed coursework in psychology, education, social work, behavioral science, human development, or related fields
Must hold and maintain current certification as a Registered BehaviorTechnician as issued by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB)
Experience working with preschool-aged children in educational or childcare settings
Knowledge of positive behavior support strategies and child development
Strong communication, collaboration, and observation skills
Ability to remain patient, calm, and consistent in high-energy or challenging situations
Bilingual (English/Spanish) prefer but not required
Salary Description $25/hr. to $30/hr

What will you do?
Must participate in on site, home, and/ or community-based implementation of ABA programs across sessions for all areas of the patient's treatment plan.
Provide direct patient care following the prescribed Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP).
Apply all MBS safety procedures when transporting or working with patients. May include physical management, environmental awareness, maintaining line of sight supervision, using, and wearing PPE etc.
Collect and record data on observable behavior.
Write session notes, get parent signatures, and render appointments.
Preparation of patient materials, as assigned.
Must implement all PMT techniques as necessary per certification standards and in line with organizational policy and maintain certification.
Properly wear PPE, attend all trainings related to PPE and follow all safety procedures and requirements with or without accommodation.
Maintain dignity, confidentiality & professionalism with patients and adhere to policy and protocols.
Compliance with HIPAA and other state and federal regulations.
Participate in MBS assigned trainings - in person, synchronous, asynchronous, or remote.

May be required to provide substitute coverage to other Milestones' programs.

In this role you are required-
To physically care for younger children up to 6 years old with or without assistance of one or additional designated persons.
The job duties require an employee to routinely and safely demonstrate heavy to very heavy physical demands associated with ‘hand on' efforts when physically managing students, under routine, emergency, and/or aggressive behavior management scenarios.
When implementing emergency procedures ('PMT'), must perform maneuvers and actions associated with managing students independently or as part of an orchestrated team effort.

Job Duties

Job Qualifications
Education: Associates or Bachelors Degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Social Work, Speech and Language, Child Development, Special Education or related fields preferred.
Experience: Previous experience working with children/adolescents with special needs including Autism using ABA focused interventions is preferred.
RBT Certification is preferred but not required. Company will provide RBT Training.
Availability to work daytime and/or after school hours based on the needs of family and child's schedule.
Must be willing to travel to client's homes in Middlesex, Hartford, and/or Tolland Counties.
Must have reliable transportation and insurance.
