Job Purpose
The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) is a paraprofessional who practices under the direct, ongoing supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or Board Certified assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA). The RBT is primarily responsible for the direct implementation of behavior-analytic services.
The RBT may work with GGAF-Ackerman Center client's one-on-one or within a group setting at the clinic or community sites. Client ages range from 1 year to 25 years old.
Duties and Responsibilities
Direct Client Services
Under the guidance of the BCBA implements behavioral programming in 1:1 and group settings.
Collects data on all programming and writes progress notes.
With the BCBA, advises and consults with families and other center personnel.
Understands and adheres to established policies and procedures.
Participates with all other personnel, as needed, in patient care settings.
Provide and model appropriate behavioral strategies for the child and family and conduct regular parent training.
Under the guidance of the BCBA, completes assessments, as required, to deliver behavior- analytic services.

Facilitate natural supports in the workplace for the client and job site supervisors

· Transport clients and/or staff to and from a variety of destinations at the direction and discretion of your immediate supervisor or designee.
· Record Keeping/Documentation - daily shift reports, client behavioral incidents and any consequences given to clients or turned in to staff, maintenance needs, forms or documents used by VRC during a treatment episode.
· Perform inventory on office supplies and food, shop as needed. Making sure all supplies are kept adequately stocked and being certain to inform appropriate parties when supplies are low.

We are seeking Full-Time night shift Mental Health Technicians to provide in-patient care to adolescent and adult patients who are undergoing psychiatric care.

MHT Responsibilities:
Patient Care & Observation
Conduct and document 5 or 15-minute safety checks.
Monitor patients for changes in behavior, mood, appearance, and safety.
Promptly report unsafe behaviors, escalation, or medical concerns to nursing staff
Minimal assist with ADLs (bathing, grooming, toileting, meals) as appropriate.
Ensure patients maintain appropriate hygiene, clothing, and room cleanliness.
Therapeutic Support
Use trauma-informed communication and de-escalation techniques.
Participate in milieu management, creating a safe, structured environment.
Redirect inappropriate behavior and reinforce positive coping skills.
Lead or assist with groups and recreational activities.
Assist in transport of patients to groups and meals throughout the hospital.
Safety & Crisis Intervention
Respond immediately to codes or behavioral emergencies.
Assist in safe physical intervention or holds as trained (Handle with Care).
Conduct room searches, contraband checks, and ensure unit safety compliance.
Monitor for elopement risk, self-harm behaviors, or aggression.
Clinical Support
Obtain and record vital signs as assigned.
Gather and log patient belongings, complete body checks, and update inventories.
MHT Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required
Coursework in behavioral sciences preferred
Experience in a psychiatric hospital or residential treatment center preferred
Additional Requirements:
Current and timely renewal of CPR certification for healthcare professionals
Annual professional Handle with Care certification training and certification provided by Thrive Behavioral Hospital

The Mental Health Technician provides direct patient care to patients with emotional or psychiatric disorders, supports a therapeutic setting and ensures the safety and well-being of patients.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists in identifying patients' problems, needs, and strengths
Suggests modifications to treatment plan based on observations of patients' behavior
Provides input into discharge planning
Monitors patients' progress
Communicates information regarding patients' behavior to other members of treatment team
Encourages and facilitates patients' participation in therapeutic activities
Supervises patients to ensure their safety and their involvement in treatment.
Orients new patients to facility, program, and setting
Assists patients in carrying out activities of daily living, when congruent with the patients' treatment plan and needs, age, and functioning level
Maintains a safe, orderly, and therapeutic physical environment for patients
Participates in maintaining the therapeutic setting on the unit, enforces the CPI system or other methods of behavior management
Carries out clerical and administrative assignment to support patient care, program, and organization operations
Requirements
High school diploma or GED required
Experience with therapeutic limit-setting helpful and/or an understanding of behavior management modalities helpful
Ability to maintain professional boundaries
