Education / Certification: * Be at least 18 years of age. * High School Diploma or equivalent required * Must hold and maintain current certification requirements. * Follow the RBT Ethics Code Special Knowledge / Skills: * Ability to work with students with disabilities. * Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. * Ability to communicate effectively. * Knowledge of general office equipment, assistive technology devices/systems, specialized curricula, Behavior Intervention Plans, etc. Major Responsibilities and Duties: * Follow the IEP to include Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP) to provide beneficial and effective care to students. * Assist students with day-to-day tasks. * Observe student behaviors to collect data. * Teach specific skills required for skill acquisition and maladaptive behavior reduction. * Nurture a student's social abilities. * Inform teacher and itinerant personnel about behavioral intervention findings. * Establishes and maintains therapeutic relationship by pairing self as a reinforcing entity and building the value for the student of social interaction. * Prompts safe and socially acceptable replacement behaviors to build a repertoire of communication, social interaction, and problem-solving skills. * Fades prompts appropriately to promote both successful and independent responding. * Increases the frequency or duration of safe and appropriate replacement behaviors by providing access to reinforcers (desired items/actions, attention, or removal of demands/aversive situations) * Accurately collects behavior data including: A-B-C, count, frequency, duration, latency, inter-response time, event, interval based recording, etc. * Follows the goals and interventions utilizing sound judgement and seeks out appropriate consultation. * Collaborates with teachers and itinerant personnel to provide services effectively and without disruption to the environment or other individuals in the environment. * Collaborates with teachers and itinerant personnel on reinforcement and early intervention information. Supervisory Responsibilities: None. Equipment Used: Wheelchair lift, ramp, personal computer, copier and audio/visual equipment as necessary.
