Job Description
Under the direction of a licensed physician, registered nurse, or clinical supervisor, the Psychiatric Technician performs professional therapeutic procedures in the care and treatment of severely and persistently mentally ill and emotionally disturbed patients.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Gives a basic level of general and psychiatric nursing care to mentally ill patients; works with an interdisciplinary treatment team to provide an overall treatment program for the patient;
Under supervision, may perform nursing procedures such as administering medications and treatments, including oral medications, injections, and enemas, taking and charting vital signs;
Observes patients' condition and behavior; reports significant changes to supervisor or physician and documents care and/or treatments in nursing progress notes on patients; prepares patients and cares for them during treatment; gives first aid as needed;
Helps to create a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and recognizes early symptoms/signs of escalation and at risk behavior; uses appropriate interventions including crisis intervention, verbal de-escalation, and alerting other team members;
Implements therapeutic activities and documents patient participation; assists rehabilitation therapists in occupational and recreational therapies for patients;
Motivates patients to develop independence in performing activities of daily living; assists patients with feeding, clothing, toileting, activities of daily living; ensure patients follow safe practices that protect patients and others from personal injury;
Receives visitors and encourages their interest in the patients' wellbeing and treatment plan; escorts patients on the facility premises and to and from the community; orders supplies as needed; keeps records; participates in orientation and in-service training programs;

The 2305 Psychiatric Technician performs other related duties as required.
Nature of Positions: Positions may require considerable physical effort in controlling or restraining violent clients, with continuous exposure to conditions which may result in accidents or injuries or other uncomfortable situations.

LICENSE: Possession of a valid Psychiatric Technicians license issued by the California Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Under supervision of the Program Supervisor and/or Clinical Manager, implements in-home/community-based intervention in person and/or via teletherapy.
Travels to home and other community settings, as required, to deliver services.
Responsible for meeting established minimum productivity requirements, while providing efficient and effective service in all areas of performance.
Completes necessary documentation within required timeframe, including behavioral data collection and graphing, treatment notes, and other company-related documents and current ABA or other treatment plans for each client.
Remains current regarding new research, current trends and developments in ABA and related fields.
Attends staff meetings, trainings, and other meetings as requested.
Responsible to complete additional job duties as assigned by Supervisors/Management.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education, Experience & Training Equivalent to:
High School diploma or equivalent required
Relevant experience preferred.
RBT Certification preferred
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Sensitivity to working with an ethnically, linguistically, culturally, and economically diverse population.
Communicate effectively verbally, hearing and in writing.
Maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion pertaining to the work environment.
Appropriately interpret and implement policies, procedures, and regulations of ESNorcal; training provided.
Consistently demonstrate good judgment and decision-making skills.
Knowledgeable and skilled in computer/word processing software and excel.
Travel to multiple work sites; reliable transportation needed (proof of CA valid driver's license, current auto insurance identification card, and acceptable driving record per NIAC standards is required).
Preferred Qualifications:
Recent experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and/or related developmental disabilities in a direct care capacity preferred.
Knowledge of evidence-based methodologies found to benefit children with ASD preferred, including Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA), Early Start Denver Model (ESDM), Treatment and Education of Autistic and related Communication-Handicapped Children (TEACCH), Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS), and Pivotal Response Training (PRT)
Previous experience providing education, coaching and support to families with children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and/or related developmental disabilities a plus.
American Sign Language or bi-lingual ability.
Physical Requirements:
Frequent bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, twisting in order to observe, assess, and interact with clients.
Stand or sit for extended periods of time, stand for up to 6-8 hours a day.
Frequent speaking and listening (50%) to clients, staff, and other professionals in meetings and on the phone.
Frequent driving (to and from office and client homes)
Frequent sitting and maintaining close visual attention to write reports and work at the computer.
Occasional lifting, carrying, and loading/unloading toys and materials up to 30lbs used in home visits.
Physically implement behavior management strategies including responding to physically aggressive behavior.
Visual and auditory ability to work with clients, staff and others in the workplace continuously.
Ability to utilize computer, cell phone, iPad.
Frequent proofreading and checking documents for accuracy.
Must be able to communicate effectively within the workplace, read and write using the primary language within the workplace.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Ability to obtain and maintain criminal record clearance through the Department of Justice. The People & Performance department must analyze DOJ/FBI live scan reports in accordance with applicable federal, State and local laws as well as fitness for position.
Must have valid California Driver's License and maintain a clean driving record.
Must pass health screenings, obtain vaccinations and clear TB testing based on company policies.
Ability to obtain and maintain CPR certificate.
Ability to obtain and maintain clearance through the Office of Inspector General.
Ability to obtain RBT Certification within 90 days of hire and maintain active certification status.
Ability to obtain and maintain a National Provider Identifier (NPI).

We are hiring full-time Behavior Interventionists to support students in school-based settings across a variety of grade levels. These roles involve direct 1:1 and small group behavioral support, data collection, and collaboration with educators and related service providers to promote student success across academic and social environments.
Behavior Interventionist Key Responsibilities:
Implement individualized Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) using ABA-based strategies to support positive behavior and reduce challenging behavior.
Collect and document data daily to track student progress toward behavioral goals.
Support students with emotional regulation, social skills, task completion, and general classroom participation.
Assist in de-escalation and crisis intervention following district-approved protocols.
Collaborate with teachers, behavior specialists, and school teams to ensure consistent implementation of supports.
Monitor student behavior during classroom activities, transitions, mealtimes, and recess.
Support personal care needs, which may include toileting, diapering, and hygiene tasks when necessary.
Assist students using mobility or medical equipment, as trained.
Attend team meetings or IEPs as requested to provide behavioral insights and progress updates.
Maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all student-related matters.
Participate in required training and professional development activities.
Behavior Interventionist Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Associate's degree or 48+ college units preferred, or passing score on CBEST, ParaPro, or similar exam
Experience working with children or students with disabilities and/or behavioral needs (school, clinic, or home setting)
Familiarity with ABA principles and positive behavior support preferred
CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and support students with physical and personal care needs
Strong communication, patience, and the ability to remain calm in high-stress situations
