About the Position
Position Summary:
The BehaviorTechnician (BT) role at Mountain Shadows New Beginnings is ideal for individuals who are already Registered BehaviorTechnicians (RBTs) or those with experience providing behavioral support who are looking for a stable, weekday schedule. We offer a supportive environment with comprehensive training-and if you're not already an RBT, we'll help you complete the certification process within six months of hire.
As a BT, you will work directly with assigned clients at our site-based program, providing supervision, behavioral support, personal care, and engaging training opportunities in a safe and welcoming environment. No travel or use of a personal vehicle is required!
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide direct supervision and behavioral support to individuals in a structured therapeutic day program.
Implement individualized behavior support strategies under the guidance of the Program Director and Interdisciplinary Team.
Assist clients in developing vocational and independent living skills.
Facilitate meaningful social, recreational, and community integration activities.
Provide personal care assistance as needed, including hygiene and self-care tasks.
Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment that enhances client growth and independence.

Participate in ongoing training, staff meetings, and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications:

Qualifications Needed:

Bi-Lingual in Spanish

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed during day and night shifts primarily in residential detox facility. Behavioral Health Technician routinely drive residents in company vehicles for intakes/discharges at other treatment facilities and transportation hubs, to doctor appointments, to outings and recovery meetings. BLOOD/FLUID EXPOSURE RISK:
Some job tasks involve exposure to blood, body fluids and/or tissue. Role Responsibilities (Here's what it takes)
Provide 1:1 care directly with Clients during scheduled sessions under the supervision of a Board- Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
Implement established behavioral treatment plans based on the science of applied behavior analysis (ABA) across skill levels, moderate to severe problem behaviors, and service delivery settings.
Ensure that 100% of the scheduled direct services are provided without any scheduling interruptions.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client progress, interventions, and outcomes.
Collect data related to Client's progress during treatment sessions.
Incorporate activities and games that are developmentally appropriate and engaging for the client in alignment with the treatment plan.
Promote Client engagement to build their strengths in a natural and enjoyable manner.
Consulting with case Supervisor on treatment plans, Client updates, and intervention strategies.
Receiving and utilizing ongoing training, guidance, and support.
Follow program procedures, administrative tasks, direct therapy skills, and other duties that are in line with our compliance requirements.
Maintaining reliable communication to record scheduled appointments and return phone calls within 24 hours.
Ensuring that the company's “zero tolerance policy” is understood, implemented, and reinforced in the region.
Completing all duties, tasks, and/or special projects assigned by leaders and/or the business.
Participating in team meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities.
Providing make up hours as an alternate care team member.
Maintaining eligible transportation and current liability insurance (if applicable).

What You'll Do
Ensure Client Safety→ Conduct regular safety checks (every 15-60 minutes) in all living areas, bedrooms, and common spaces. Escort clients to activities, appointments, and outings as needed.
Direct Client Engagement→ Stay present and accessible throughout the shift. Offer support, guidance, and encouragement in line with treatment goals.
Crisis Support→ Intervene quickly and compassionately during moments of distress, using de-escalation techniques and involving clinical staff when appropriate.
Monitor & Document→ Observe client behavior and mood, recording updates in the electronic medical record (EMR: Kipu). Report concerns to the clinical/nursing team promptly.
Uphold Standards→ Enforce program rules and reinforce a safe, respectful environment consistent with ABH's values.
Team Collaboration→ Partner with therapists, case managers, nurses, and supervisors to ensure seamless, high-quality care.

Responsibilities:
Complete all assigned Behavioral Health Technician duties and documentation in accordance with Monarch Shores policies, state regulations, and HIPAA guidelines.

Assist with the admission and intake process for all new clients, including collecting urine samples, conducting belongings and vehicle searches, and completing required paperwork.
Support detoxification protocols, including completion of vital signs and routine monitoring for clients undergoing withdrawal management
Provide safe and timely transportation of clients to appointments, meetings, airports, and other approved destinations.
Assist in crisis intervention efforts, including verbal de-escalation and immediate communication with medical or clinical staff when necessary.
Support clients with daily living activities, including maintaining cleanliness of shared spaces, assisting with food preparation, and encouraging healthy routines.
Participate in and support on-site activities, peer support groups, outings, and community meetings, as assigned.
Observe and recognize signs of potential substance use or mental health distress, documenting and reporting observations promptly.
Attend and actively participate in staff meetings, trainings, and continuing education sessions to enhance job knowledge and team collaboration.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Operations to support the overall facility operations.
Preferred Qualifications:
General understanding of mental health conditions, substance use, and the impact of co-occurring disorders.
Basic knowledge of the use and misuse of alcohol and other substances.
Understanding of and/or experience in crisis management, including de-escalation techniques.
Knowledge of and adherence to HIPAA regulations and client confidentiality standards.
Familiarity with SMART Recovery, Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), and Narcotics Anonymous (NA) support models.
Preferred candidates should demonstrate the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, with effective communication, time management, problem-solving skills, and strong professional boundaries.
Must be respectful and responsive to religious, ethnic, cultural, and individual differences in client care and team interactions.
