Our Ideal Candidate Will Have The Following Qualifications:
An ideal candidate will be Board Certified and Licensed to work in Illinois, but candidates who have completed graduate coursework and fieldwork supervision requirements are encouraged to apply
Master's degree
Experience working with neurodivergent populations (i.e. Autism Spectrum Disorder) or those with developmental disabilities and complex behavioral support needs
Supervisory experience with RBTs/technicians is preferred
Must thrive on a team model with collaboration between other ABA therapists, occupational and speech therapists, and others involved in a child's life, such as teachers or counselors
Able to make frequent, data-driven decisions for meaningful and personalized progress
Effective and professional communicators regarding education and training to caregivers and supervisees
Position responsibilities:
Conduct initial and yearly comprehensive assessments (e.g., ABLLS-R, VB-MAPP, ABAS-3, caregiver interviews, behavior observations) with support from RBTs
Provide direct treatment as needed
Provide frequent supervision and direction to supervisees
Complete effective and prompt documentation for daily notes, assessments and individual treatment plans, weekly progress and update tracking
Participate in our mentorship network as either mentee or mentor
Provide education and training for caregivers
Collaborate with other therapists (OT, PT, SLP, and MH) via meetings, email, and phone correspondence
Utilize our Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system to create and maintain and documentation and collect and monitor data
Maintain an ABA caseload in our North Mayfair center
Work with practicum students

Position Overview
The Division of Developmental Disabilities is seeking to hire a Mental Health Technician Trainee at the Kiley Developmental Center located in Waukegan, Illinois. The incumbent will, for a period of time from six (6) and not to exceed twelve (12) months, receive instruction and training in providing care for individuals with developmental disabilities. Attends formal classes for instruction in routine nursing practices and techniques, behavior intervention skill development and to gain elementary understanding of the causes, nature and treatment of intellectual disabilities. Performs routine tasks in providing care for individuals with developmental disabilities, including conducting activities and programs, documenting data regarding the individual's response to care and programs and escorting individuals to participate in the receipt of community services. Essential Functions

Participates in providing active treatment and habilitation services for individuals.
Escorts individuals and participates in training individuals in residential, social or vocational activities both at Kiley Developmental Center and in other designated locations.
Performs light housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean, safe, comfortable, and sanitary living environment including spot mopping, cleaning spills, wiping tables, removing trash, securing supplies and equipment, and making beds and lifting up to 50 pounds.
Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Responsibilities
Direct Client Care: Provide one-on-one therapy to clients in various settings including our Centers, homes and/or schools.
Implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs): Follow the behavior intervention plans designed by BCBAs to address specific behavioral goals and objectives for each client.
Data Collection: Accurately collect and record data on client behaviors and responses during therapy sessions, ensuring data integrity and consistency.
Progress Monitoring: Collaborate with the supervising BCBAs to track and report client progress towards behavioral goals and adjust intervention plans as needed.
Behavior Reduction Techniques: Utilize approved behavior reduction techniques and strategies as outlined in the behavior intervention plan to address challenging behaviors.
Skill Acquisition: Assist clients in acquiring and developing functional skills, communication abilities, and appropriate social behaviors.
Parent/Caregiver Training: Provide training and support to parents/caregivers on implementing behavior intervention techniques and strategies in the home environment.
Professionalism: Adhere to ethical guidelines and professional standards in behavior analysis while maintaining client confidentiality.
Documentation: Complete required paperwork, progress reports, and session notes.
Communication: Maintain open communication with the BCBAs, parents/caregivers, and other team members involved in the client's treatment.
Qualifications
Passion for working with children and helping others.
High School Diploma or GED is required.
Must meet all BACB eligibility requirements to obtain RBT certification.
Ability to pass the required RBT certification exam within the training period.
Must obtain and maintain required RBT certification through the BACB.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent time management and interpersonal skills.
Physical Requirements
Physical capacity to move quickly and respond to potentially aggressive behavior and
de-escalate situations with clients.
Prolonged periods of standing, walking, kneeling, bending, squatting, running and/or
sitting in order to interact with clients.
Must be able to move and lift up to 50 pounds to assist with client positioning or mobility.
Adequate vision and hearing are needed to work with clients and staff.
Eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to operate office equipment and other
necessary tools.

Minimum Training & Experience Requirements
1. High school graduation or GED equivalent
2. Two years of recognized post high school education with at least two courses in psychology, sociology, or social work
OR
Six months of patient care experience in a mental health setting or a residential treatment center for mentally ill or developmentally disabled or related area.
OR
Completions of two semesters of clinical education as a nursing student in a recognized nursing education program.
3. Possession of a valid State of Wisconsin CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) certification.
