Position: Behavior Technician Status: Full-Time/Part-Time/Contingent, Non-Exempt Reports to: Associate Clinical Manager ABA Supervision Provided by: BCBA/QBHP Job Summary: The Behavior Technician implements treatment plans and provide direct line therapy for children, teenagers, and young adults with autism spectrum disorders. Primary Duties and Responsibilities Provide direct line therapy to clients following all of the guidelines set forth in the treatment plan. Work 1:1 or in small groups to work on individualized skill acquisition objectives. Behavior Technician Role and Responsibilities: Assist rehab staff in implementation of behavior protocols that are developed by the BCBA. Assist in novel data collection, making observations and documenting client behaviors and trends. Provide relevant corrective reinforcement and praise, for both clients and staff as appropriate. Feedback for staff would be specifically related to their implementation of Behavior Protocols. Model appropriate, professional, and compassionate behavior for both staff and clients. BTs would be involved in increasing the staff's engagement with the clients. They will assist management with: ensuring client engagement schedules are being followed including therapy attendance. conduct daily observations on engagement and provide immediate feedback/praise when necessary. teach and model staff when dealing with more difficult clients. assist in more specific community access goals and interact directly with clients in the community when they are resistant or are otherwise underperforming in meeting their goals. BTs would be responsible for responding to crisis situations during their shift and often responsible for managing and assessing the interventions of staff (e.g., QBS protocol). While BTs will primarily be working with BCBAs, they will also be expected to work well within the multidisciplinary team. They will also need to communicate and work collaboratively with the Residential Unit Coordinators, Residential Supervisors, Program Coordinators, and clinicians of various disciplines (e.g., Occupational Therapists, Psychotherapists, Speech Therapists, Recreation Therapists, Health Educators, Dietician, Physical Therapists, etc.) depending on the client's programming. BTs would work with clients on community transportation goals (e.g. cabbing, busing, and walking with them) and would help clients in developing their own social networks in the community. Our singular focus is Patient Care Second to None! Job Summary: Behavioral Health Technicians provide care and support to patients with behavioral disorders. They work directly with the patients to deliver services under the supervision of various types of behavior analysts. Their duties will include but are not limited to observing and recording patient behavior, providing emotional support, assisting with daily activities, report on patient progress, crisis intervention, maintain confidentiality, and complete documentation. The Behavioral Health Technician candidates will demonstrate excellent customer service focusing on providing patient care second to none. Assists in the assessment and care of behavior medicine patients via the therapeutic milieu including recreational activities, group therapy, and patient education. Complies with all appropriate safety and infection control standards. Participates in quality assessment and continuous quality improvement activities. Education equivalent to graduation from high school. Two (2) years of experience as a nursing assistant or mental health technician. Confers and consults with charge nurse to establish short term goals for patients. Implements plan of care as directed by professional staff. Assists in orientating patients and patient families to unit including explaining policies and procedures. Assists in enforcing rules and regulations and maintaining safe and therapeutic milieu. Aids patients in becoming accustomed to hospital routine. Encourages patients to participate in social and recreational activities to promote rehabilitation. Assists staff or initiates therapeutic activities such as daily meetings, relaxation techniques, group activities, board games, cards, and puzzles. Communicates therapeutically with patients in a variety of situations. Utilizes techniques such as reality orientation, reflecting, clarifying, and redirecting. Aids patients with personal care such as bathing, feeding, and hygiene. Monitors and records temperature, pulse, respiration, blood pressure, and weight. Observes, interacts, and documents behaviors of patients and completes rounds and records as assigned. Notifies appropriate personnel of unusual behaviors. Assists in suicide precautions when required. Orients newly assigned staff to unit. Performs duties of nursing assistant as required. Demonstrates effective judgment and ability to understand, react competently, and treat (if appropriate) unique needs of patient age groups served.
