Summary of Responsibilities A Behavioral Health Practitioner (BHP) works under the direction and supervision of a Clinical Manager, providing community-based behavioral health services to individuals with psychiatric illness, substance use issues and/or co-occurring disorders. The BHP must be open and willing to work with culturally and gender diverse groups and individuals to facilitate goals of self-efficacy. This position requires a high degree of self-initiative and motivation. The schedule is flexible, as determined by the person served' s needs and may include early morning, evening or weekend appointments. The position may involve services provided in the designated BHS clinic, driving to persons served homes or various locations within the community where services are provided (if services are offered on-site according to the program and funding source.) It may include telehealth services utilizing both audio and visual communication with individuals. BHPs provide individual, family and group counseling, crisis intervention, conflict resolution, initial assessments to determine level of care, treatment planning, case presentations, presenting psychoeducational information to individuals regarding diagnosis, symptoms, medications, relapse prevention and safety planning. The BHP provides services to both children and adults. Responsible for informing the community and creating awareness about Borinquen Medical Centers (BMC) services, including: substance use, mental health, HIV prevention, and prevention education on the risks of substance misuse, HIV/AIDS, and STDs. The Behavioral Health Outreach Specialist also conducts outreach in high-risk areas to recruit participants for testing and BMC services, provides needed linkages to service provision for individuals with mental health, substance use and/or co-occurring disorders, and participates in the coordination and facilitation of presentations to educate the community about our services. TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Assist Project Director and Behavioral Health Lead Navigator in SAMHSA annual reports, continuation applications, etc. for Behavioral Health Department. Work one-on-one with young children with autism to deliver individualized treatment designed by a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst. As a critical member of the child's therapy team, you will facilitate learning and playing in groups, collect data, and implement feedback from supervisors. Overview The Behavior Technician (BT) provides 1:1 treatment to assigned clients, between 18 months and six years old, based on evidenced-based practices (i.e., Applied Behavior Analysis; ABA). The BT will deliver individualized therapy hours based on the plans and protocols developed by the Supervising Behavior Analyst and collect data on the client's progress. The BT must be able to work cooperatively with team members and maintain open and positive communication with families, co-workers, supervisor(s), and other stakeholders. The BT must demonstrate the computer and technical skills necessary to use an electronic data collection system. Compensation and Benefits * Eligible for benefits, including health, dental, vision, retirement, paid time off, life and disability insurance * Extensive training and supervision provided by Little Leaves * This is a center-based position: Drive to the same location every day, work alongside your peers, and always have an entire clinical team to support you. * Positive, supportive work environment Responsibilities ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Direct Treatment (client face-to-face hours, 25 - 35 hours/ week): * Implementation of individual treatment plan for assigned caseload (i.e., individual). * Implements procedures by which client's objectives will be met in accordance with the client's assessment and treatment plan to fidelity. * With oversight from the SBA, evaluates the effectiveness of procedures using direct observation, data collection, and discusses progress with the clinical supervisor. * Provides input on the need for new objectives and treatments as targets are mastered. * Notifies supervisor(s) of any critical incidents immediately and completes an incident report. Documentation and Administrative Tasks: * Documents client's progress in daily data collection and session notes on treatment goals (clear, concise explanation of service delivery, and parent/teacher input). * Converts "timesheet," completes session note, and ensures session start and end times are accurate. Conversions are expected to be completed no later than 24 hours from the end of the day which services took place unless an earlier deadline is specified by a supervisor (e.g., Friday session). * Attends regularly scheduled staff meetings, required training, and other meetings as assigned and effectively communicates with all stakeholders. * Completes all tasks related to preparation for sessions and cleaning up after completed sessions. * Informs supervisor immediately of any important concerns pertaining to families' or schools' services. Cooperates with special requests made by supervisor(s). Professionalism and Ethics * Attends sessions as assigned on time and maintains a professional appearance (see also "employee handbook"). * Listens to constructive feedback and responds appropriately. * Maintains the security of all media containing client protected health information, including electronic media, and returns media to his/her supervisor when appropriate. * Prepares all services and documents in a manner that is culturally sensitive and linguistically appropriate and sensitive to the family's/school staff's concerns. * Returns phone calls and emails (using work assigned email account) within 24 - 48 business hours. Confidentiality, Rights, and Dignity. Preserves the rights of each client and family, while maintaining professional boundaries with clients, families, and/or school staff. Qualifications Qualifications: * High School Diploma is required; completion of associate degree/bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, special education, or related field is strongly preferred. * Commitment to earning a Registered Behavior Technician credential within 60 - 90 days of hire (must sit for RBT test, training and supervision provided by Little Leaves). * Experience working with children with special needs, e.g., autism or developmental delays. * Ability to follow instructional guidance and to follow ABA programs. * Ability to interact well with children, families, and colleagues. * Ability to work collaboratively as a therapy team member. * Ability to work well independently and seek assistance when needed. * Possess strong attention to detail for data collection. * Organized, flexible and willing to take constructive feedback and apply it to improve the quality of programming and one's own professional development. * Strong communication and interpersonal skills required. * Able to maintain client confidentiality. * Technologically adept. Physical Requirements * Ability to lift, push, pull children up to 40 pounds, and able to complete the physical demands of the job (frequent sitting and standing, sitting on, and getting up from the floor, kneeling, bending, and running with children) * May be subject to physical aggression with clients, which may include biting, kicking, punching, pinching. Implement Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs): Follow the behavior intervention plans designed by BCBAs to address specific behavioral goals and objectives for each client. Data Collection: Accurately collect and record data on client behaviors and responses during therapy sessions, ensuring data integrity and consistency. Progress Monitoring: Collaborate with the supervising BCBAs to track and report client progress towards behavioral goals and adjust intervention plans as needed. Behavior Reduction Techniques: Utilize approved behavior reduction techniques and strategies as outlined in the behavior intervention plan to address challenging behaviors.
