Job Summary
Pioneers Center serves as the only short-term emergency shelter for kids (ages 12-18) who do not have immediate access to another safe living arrangement in southeast Nebraska. Kids may be referred to the Pioneers Center because of a history of abuse, neglect or domestic violence; alternative to juvenile detention; interruption of a foster care placement; homelessness; hospitalization of a parent/guardian; or for short-term stabilization. A variety of levels of care are offered at the Pioneers Center. Crisis stabilization is a more intensive level of care that involves the support of a CEDARS therapist. To prevent youth from being placed outside the home, CEDARS also offers Basic Center services to families who are not involved in Child Welfare or the Juvenile Justice System.

We provide individualized treatment to high acuity youth, using an Applied Behavioral Analysis approach. These positions will, under general supervision, provide continuous intensive behavioral modification, trauma-focused interventions, residential care, custody, and supervision of the youth at the 24-hour state facility located in Lincoln, NE. Candidates for this position should have a passion for working with youth needing a high level of support and stability.
Job Duties:
Direct care for youth with high acuity using trauma-focused interventions.
De-escalation of verbal and physical aggression with inclusion of behavioral modification strategies.
Continuous and intensive interventions to encourage skill building of life and communication skills.
Direct implementation of continuous and intensive treatment plans and therapeutic activities using positive reinforcement strategies.
Monitor and document daily behavior and progress of the youth.
Partner with medical providers, including the Behavior Support Specialists, to ensure constant follow through of specific programming, behavioral modification strategies, and treatment plans.
Requirements / Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: Must be at least 21 years of age and possess a high school diploma or equivalent education. Related coursework/training experience in: behavioral sciences, counseling and guidance, rehabilitation/treatment services, education, nursing/patient care, delinquency prevention, criminal justice, or related area. Completion of: 40 hours of Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) training; complete a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) competency assessment exam which must be completed within 120 days of hire. A valid driver's license and ability to become an authorized vehicle driver for the State of Nebraska is also required.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in any of the fields mentioned above. Previous experiencing working with youth aged 14-19.
Other: This position requires proficiency in English, including the ability to read, write, speak, and comprehend the language effectively. This position requires the candidate be able to obtain their medication aide license.
We are hiring for 2nd shift; 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM. This qualifies for a shift differential of $1- $1.50!

Job Description
At Hands of Heartland, we believe that people with developmental disabilities are people first. We at Hands of Heartland will always place the person before the program - striving daily to embody the message our name states.
We are looking for dependable, compassionate Behavior Support Specialists to work with an individual with a developmental disability who has some behavioral challenges in Lincoln, NE. Preferred applicants will have at least two years of related experience, or a degree/certification related to behavioral health.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide services to address the wants and needs of people with developmental disabilities, which may include:
Supporting personal goals
Administering medications
Planning and preparing meals
Assisting with activities of daily living
Transporting to and from day program and community outings
Reinforcing therapies, including speech, behavioral support, and physical therapy
Ensuring all needs are addressed in a respectful manner with dignity and personal choice
Completing and maintaining required documentation on a web-based system
Qualifications and Requirements:
Must be at least 18 years or older
Valid driver's license and Current automobile insurance
Must be able to pass all background checks
Two years of related experience or a degree/certification related to behavioral health preferred
Male staff preferred, as that is individual's preference
Ability to be certified in enhanced behavioral intervention
Ability to lift up to 75 pounds as needed
Ability to use verbal and physical intervention to redirect and/or to complete an emergency safety intervention with a person who is physically aggressive or self-abusive
Ability to communicate with other people in-person, by telephone, and in writing
Ability to use verbal and physical intervention to redirect and/or restrain a person who is physically aggressive or self-abusive
Ability to safely provide supervision and monitoring to meet the needs of people supported by Hands of Heartland
Ability to perform repetitive tasks for extended periods of time to include but not limited to bending, stooping, sitting, and reaching

Shifts and Hours Needed
We are looking for full-time or part-time for evenings and overnights with every other weekend required.
Day hours are only available on weekends.
Days 7a-3p
Evenings 3p-11p
Overnights 10p-9a
Flexible scheduling is available as some shift hours may vary depending upon the individual's needs
Compensation and Benefits
Starting pay is $17 per hour
Candidates with prior experience and a valid CNA license are eligible for higher compensation based on qualifications
