Job Description Under the general supervision of the Clinical Director, the BCBA independently provides school-based functional behavioral analytic services (assessment, treatment, and consultation) for students attending the Bradley Schools. BCBAs also may provide supervision of graduate-level trainees. The Providence Public School District (PPSD) serves approximately 22,000 students (about the seating capacity of Madison Square Garden) attending our 37 schools. The Registered Behavior Technician will obtain individual and group supervision in alignment with the BACB requirements and will attend multiple trainings throughout the year to expand their skill set. Registered Behavior Technicians provide 1:1 ABA support to students in both push-in and pull-out formats and are responsible for maintaining accurate Medicaid Billing where applicable. This is not an academic support position, although the RBT may provide some instructional support to students as needed. The RBT also provides school and classroom behavior management strategies, modeling and training on the implementation of applied behavior analysis strategies to teachers and other classroom staff, and direct support to school faculty. The Registered Behavior Technician will maintain consistent and constructive communication with students, administrators, school faculty/staff, and families and facilitate a school-wide team approach to ensure a positive, safe school culture and climate. The Registered Behavior Technician will utilize reinforcement contingencies to increase opportunities for student engagement while decreasing school violence, out-of-school suspension rates, and chronic absenteeism. The Registered Behavior Technician will work in collaboration with the Administration, Student Support Academy, District attendance team, School-Based Mental Health Community Partners, and School-Based Mental Health Leadership Team (Psychologist, Social Worker, School Counselor & Nurse) when student support is needed. The Registered Behavior Technician serves as a member of the school's Student Support team and the Crisis Team. RBTs complete behavior threat assessments and introduce proactive measures to increase school safety. Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) Grade:Supervisory Aide Reports To: Building Administrator Essential Duties and Responsibilities: •Comply with district policies and procedures along with state regulations and laws •Communicate effectively with colleagues and school teams •Be reliable and timely for scheduled work, meetings, trainings, and supervision •Maintain professionalism and professional relationships and boundaries •Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information •Implement behavior plans as developed by school teams •Collect data and maintain records and logs as assigned •Participate in trainings and professional development as assigned •Perform other duties as directed by supervisor •Works independently •Supports personal care needs of children (dressing, washing, feeding, changing diapers, toileting schedule, etc.) as needed •Reviews and assists students with subject matter individually and/or in small groups •Monitors lunch periods, recess and hallways •Maintains safety of students in classroom (including de-escalation and following Safety Cares protocols) •Monitors students during periods of brief teacher absence •Performs other related work as required, consistent with position summary •Complete Compuclaim/ Medicaid logs Minimum Qualifications •Completion of a Teacher Assistant Pre-Employment Training Program approved by the RI Department of Education (RIDE). Three (3) exceptions to this particular qualification oThose hired before January 1, 1999 oThose with certification as a TA in another state, oThose with an associates degree or bachelors degree AND who have completed coursework or other training consistent with the teacher assistant program standards. It is a district's decision whether coursework or other training is consistent with the teacher assistant program standards •Meet one (1) of the following requirements: oSuccessfully pass the ParaPro Assessment. OR oComplete at least 2 years of study at an institution of higher education OR oObtain an associates or higher degree. •Be at least 19 years of age; •Completion of Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) training course •Passed the exam and maintain a certification as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) within one year of employment •Complete and hold Safety Cares certification •Some knowledge of modern educational practices and procedures •Ability to deal with students in a de-escalating and non-confrontational manner •Ability to maintain order and decorum in assigned areas •Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions •Ability to learn assigned duties and adhere to prescribed procedures •Ability to maintain accurate records •Must meet mandated state and federal requirements •2 years relevant experience working with children •Successfully passed a BCI check Physical Requirements include (but are not limited to): The physical demands described here are representative of those the employee needs to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
