SUMMARY:
The Behavior Technician (or RBT) position provides 1:1 high-quality Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy services to individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other developmental disabilities. This position implements individualized treatment plans and behavior intervention plans, collects and enters data, builds & maintains rapport, and ensures learners have a supportive and encouraging environment to learn in.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Ensures the safety of learners served by following all agency procedures on least restrictive environment and alternatives to restrictive interventions
Implements individualized learner treatment plans and behavior intervention plans with fidelity
Accurately collects and records data on learner progress and behavior during each session through the EMR software
Implements group times with up to eight learners while maintaining clinical integrity and learner safety
Provides regular updates and progress reports to the supervising BCBA, participating in team meetings to discuss client progress
Promotes learner morale and dignity through assent-based practices
Participates in ongoing training, treatment team meetings, and professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in ABA
Implements group times with up to eight learners while maintaining clinical integrity and learner safety
Implements toilet training protocols and goals as instructed
Helps with preparation and organization of program materials/supplies as needed
Adheres to all internal and funder requirements when implementing treatment, billing for services and submitting required session note documentation
Adheres to the BACB's RBT Ethics Code
Submits required session documentation according to funder requirements and internal guidelines
Maintains RBT certification per the BACB's requirements
Receives and records supervision for a minimum of 5% of their direct service hours worked each month
If the RBT is working towards national certification in Behavior Analysis, additional opportunities/duties related to fieldwork experience (restricted and unrestricted tasks) may apply
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Working towards or has obtained a Degree in Behavioral Science or related field (such as; Psychology, Special Education, Elementary Education, Applied Behavior Analysis, Occupational/Physical/Speech Therapy or Counseling/Social Work) preferred
Previous experience working with individuals with ASD and/or developmental disabilities in a clinical or educational setting required
Actively seeking a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) preferred, or a good-standing Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) required

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position works primarily out of a climate-controlled ABtA center/office location that complies with all relevant safety and accessibility regulations. This position works primarily indoors, but some locations may have an outdoor playground which would expose the employee to natural elements when working with learners who have transitioned outdoors. Employees are expected to contribute to maintaining cleanliness and tidiness in shared areas while at the office. Employees may be subject to various noise conditions based on room usage, room type and the use of radio systems to communicate across the building. Employees are expected to assist learners in the bathroom for toilet training and diaper changing.

Training Schedule & Certification Requirements
At Opal Autism Centers, we provide paid, structured training designed to prepare every new team member for success as a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT). All new hires are compensated at a flat training rate of $11.00/hour (non-negotiable) during this period. Once the RBT certification is obtained, and client sessions begin, the pay rate will increase to the agreed upon rate within the employment offer letter.

General Definition of Work The behavior modification technician, under general supervision, performs support work with minimal decision-making discretion related to the implementation of behavior management programs to ensure the safety, well-being, and educational success of students and working as a team member to increase the social, behavioral, and academic skills needed for success. Employee performs school-based work to carry out Board of Education policies under the direction of the principal.

Essential Functions
* Adhere to all state, federal, and local laws, policies, and procedures
* Act as an advocate for students by providing one-on-one and group therapy processing sessions, assessment of student's needs, individual behavior planning, personal goal setting, weekly follow-ups with students and other school-based supports as needed
* Observe, document, and maintain data regarding student behavior, attendance, and academic progress; evaluate student information and make recommendations as needed
* Establish rapport and working relationships with students, staff, parents, and other community agencies to promote the best possible outcome for the student in the shortest possible time frame
* Serve as a liaison between the student, parents, CMS non-traditional program/school, regular CMS schools, community agencies and other educational programs; assist students, parents, staff and community agencies in understanding CMS policies, procedures, and guidelines
* Implement behavior management programs, enabling students to acquire social and interpersonal behaviors that will enhance their academic success; assist teachers and administrators to develop current behavior management strategies
* Assist with the day-to-day discipline, discuss student concerns with appropriate school staff and community agencies, assist with coordinating activities for parents, and respond to requests for assistance and information
* Provide close supervision to students who have committed CMS code of conduct violations or law violations and have been assigned to an alternative setting
* Provide immediate practical assistance to students to increase necessary social, behavioral, and academic skills needed to be successful in home and school settings
* Implement social skill/character education curriculum; provide individual and group instruction to students regarding appropriate social skills and behaviors; proactively monitor behavior by observing and interacting with students
* Maintain accurate log of student progress, relative behavior, and social skills development
* Assist in the identification of students who demonstrate a need for programs provided by community-based human services agencies
* Respond to calls for assistance from staff and students (both crisis and routine); diffuse and de-escalate potentially volatile situations
* Address the needs of EC students appropriately and in accordance with Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
* Attend and participate in all staff meetings, team meetings, and pertinent in-service sessions
* Perform related work as assigned or required

Education and Experience
* High school diploma required
* Additional specialized trainings/certifications or two (2) years of related college coursework required
* One (1) year of experience in a mental health or human service program preferably working with behaviorally complex children
* Bachelor's degree in Social Services field preferred
* Active Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (NCI) Certification preferred

A day in the life:
Conduct 1:1 ABA therapy sessions with early learners and young adults with Autism through teaching sessions in the home or community setting.
Implement behavioral intervention and individualized treatment plans for children between the ages of 2 and 21.
Participate in BCBA trainings, team meetings, client observations and parent training as needed.
Maintain open and direct communication with the BCBA and other RBT team members as needed relating to the delivery of treatment to our pediatric patients.
Receive Supervision from your BCBA at a minimum of 10% of services provided.
Maintain professional boundaries around our child patients and their families as indicated by the BACB.
Enter data and all trials utilized daily for each pediatric patient for all programs targeted.
Remain available for all supervision sessions, phone conferences, and team meetings required by the BCBA.
Other duties as assigned.
