A Behavior Technician provides one-on-one behavioral intervention services to children with special needs and support to their families under the close supervision of a BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst).
RBTs may work with clients in-home, in-school, in-center, and in the community.

Job Summary & Deliverables
The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) provides direct care to children with autism in home and clinical settings. The RBT implements treatment goals and objectives developed in coordination with the BCBA, family, and clinical team. The RBT provides ABA therapy to improve communication, social, functional living, and play skills while working to reduce identified problem behaviors.
Essential Functions
Implements treatment protocols as designed by the interdisciplinary treatment team in assigned treatment setting (e.g. client's home or clinical setting). Home-based treatment assignments require access to reliable transportation.
Completes objective documentation meeting Medicaid and insurance billing requirements under the supervision of a BCBA
Collects data on developed treatment goals and documented problem behaviors in both home and clinical settings
Monitors collected data to determine next steps in treatment planning under the supervision of the BCBA
Models effective behavior supports and positive interactions with clients and staff

General Purpose
Under the direction of the Director of Special Education, the Special Education Behavior Technician will be responsible for designing, implementing, modeling, and training staff on Tier 2 and Tier 3 behavior intervention plans. They will be responsible for collecting data and collaborating with school staff and parents regarding behavior plans. They will conduct functional behavioral assessments. Must have the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication. Must be able to detect and discern audible alarms, warning signals, and verbal instructions in a dynamic environment.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
Create and maintain a filing system relating to Special Education Tier 2 and Tier 3 plans
Develop and implement behavior plans
Actively collaborate with parents and staff on behavior plans
Conduct functional behavioral assessments
Assist in the coaching and overall implementation of the various behavior plans
Provide professional development to various groups as needed to expand the knowledge of the Special Education behavior systems
Prepare and submit reports and presentations as required
Actively maintain or improve the external and internal image of the District and its schools
Other duties as assigned
Education and Experience
Associate's degree is preferred but not required
Upon hire a current Registered Behavior Technician certification OR certificate of successful completion of the Registered Behavior Technician modules is required
Throughout employment a minimum of 24 hours of behavioral training must be successfully completed annually to maintain employment
A minimum of 1 year experience in Special Education behavioral training is preferred
Experience in conducting functional behavioral assessments is preferred.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
The environment for this position is extremely dynamic. The role requires the ability to perceive and identify sounds that may indicate potential safety hazards. This position is often in crisis situations where the employee may be exposed to physically aggressive and destructive behaviors. Must be able to resolve problems and create solutions, as well as observe and assess the environment to maintain situational awareness and respond to unexpected events.. May require heavy work, exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. May require kneeling, crouching, and stooping.
