Qualifications:

In this role, the Athletic Trainer (AT) is responsible for the delivery of health care services as part of a multidisciplinary team by providing athletic training services that are in accordance with GA and/or SC state practice acts. The incumbent will work in the secondary school setting providing coverage to one of the contracted schools and perform duties otherwise specified by the Outreach manager.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
The athletic trainer is expected to perform appropriately in the following domains: 1) injury and illness
prevention and wellness promotion, 2) examination, assessment, and diagnosis, 3) immediate and
emergency care, and 4) therapeutic intervention. The athletic trainer is expected to provide evaluation of athletic and non-athletic conditions to high school aged patients, conduct appropriate therapeutic interventions for such conditions, educate sports medicine stakeholders about prevention and appropriate treatment of injuries, coordinate scheduling for Wellstar associated clinic appointments and follow ups, and document all evaluation and follow up interactions in the appropriate electronic medical recording system.

Job Summary:
The Speech Language Pathologist Fellow evaluates patients and develops the speech/language plan of care in the areas of speech, language, voice, cognition and swallowing in collaboration with the physician and care team. Administers all forms of respiratory care to patients in accordance with physician orders and most recent clinical standards to patients. Correctly applies advanced modalities in a critical care setting.
Has sound knowledge of respiratory medications and pharmacologic action, dose, side effects, and method of administration. Serves as a respiratory consultant at the request of the physician. Cites AARC guidelines and remains current in the field of Respiratory Care. Demonstrates knowledge of clinical chemistries to include ABGs and basic electrolytes in both adult and geriatric patients. Skillfully establishes and maintains artificial airways in emergencies.
Conforms to infection control policies and procedures. Participates in quality improvement projects as requested. Facilitates patient discharge to home and provides patient and family education. Provides clinical assistance in the orientation of new employees and students on clinical rotation. Participates in education programs as requested. Maintains BLS certification. Conforms to departmental and hospital policies and procedures and can readily locate when the need arises.
Provides leadership to staff in the absence of the Lead Therapist. Demonstrates the ability to resolve difficult situations with finesse and skill. Ability to prioritize delivery of care when the need arises. Demonstrates good oral and written communication skills and assures all documentation is accurate, legible and in accordance with department policy. Can effectively use hospital information systems skillfully and complies with security-related policies.
Plans workload to complete assigned treatments and procedures within AARC time standards. Follows up on all patients transferred out of their assigned units to assure proper handoff and continuation of care.
