In 1910, the membership incorporated as Bellerive Country Club, naming the club after Louis St Ange De Bellerive, the last French commander in North America.
That year, Gary Player became the first foreigner to win the Open Championship since Ted Ray in 1920.
The inaugural United States Mid-Amateur was held at Bellerive in 1981, as St Louis native Jim Holtgrieve defeated Bob Lewis Jr., 2-up.
Bellerive next hosted the PGA Championship in 1992, as Nick Price captured his first major.
In 2001, the club was prepared to host 70 of the world’s best golfers at the WGC American Express Championship when the terrorist attacks of 9/11 forced cancellation of the event.
Major championship golf returned to Bellerive in 2004 when our club played host to the United States Senior Open.
The golf course then underwent a year-long renovation and reopened in October, 2006.
In 2013 Rees Jones, facilitated additional course modifications.
