Bench worker job description

• Responsible for setting up the wood moulding machine using a sample or drawing provided and use tooling to adjust as needed.
• Operate, and maintain moulding machine, table saw, straight-line rip saw, jointer saw, edge bander, and planer.
• Translate the blueprints and dimensions on drawings to perform aligning, loading, operating, and other related tasks.
• Provide minor specifications to upgrade the systems as required.
• Maintain a report of the total measure of goods manufactured per day.
• Ensure that all products are assembled according to company standards and policies.
• Follow all company policies and procedures
• Comply with all company safety policies, procedures, training, rules and guidelines.
• Comply with best practices to achieve continuous process improvements and ensure total customer satisfaction.
• Maintain a positive work environment by behaving and communicating in professional, courteous, respectful, ethical manner with customers, clients, co-workers and supervisors.

Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

• Minimum of 3 -5 years previous experience in a millwork shop, carpentry shop, and/or working knowledge of woodworking
• Technical School training is preferred
• Knowledge of materials and equipment used in custom millwork fabrication
• Sound technical skills and ability to fix problems with any type of machinery
• Knowledge of maintaining and upgrading different machines
• Ability to work with schematics and comprehend complex technical instructions and blueprints
• Good command over CAD and CAM technologies
• Experience using power tools is a plus
• Ability to work for extended hours
• Use good judgment and common sense
• Be willing to work overtime if needed

The role of the FPI Bench worker is to perform a variety of metal finishing operations including; perform metal finishing operations; deburring, hand grinding, buffing, sandblasting to blend to overlays & inspecting while maintaining quality Tecomet standards. The role requires the above to be accomplished within Tecomet's principles of continuous improvement, customer driven innovation and a win first culture, while meeting company financial and other performance metrics.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

· Perform metal finishing operations; deburring, hand grinding, buffing, sandblasting to blend to overlays & inspecting. Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection experience a plus.

· Receive work order, drawings, and parts to be finished.

· After instruction from Supervisor/Lead person, select and utilize hand and power tools such as grinders, sanders, drills and drill bits, knives, deburring tools, etc.

· Etch number identifications on various parts where specified, using etching equipment.

· Perform critical, close tolerance deburring/finishing of minute/very small parts where radii and chamber/edges are critical, using microscope and small tools.

· Inspect all finished parts for quality/specification requirements and place in containers/trays, and tag or record order data.

· Move materials as necessary in performance of duties.

· Detect and report improper operations, faulty equipment, defective materials and unusual conditions to Supervisor/Lead person.

· Maintain work area and equipment in clean, safe, and orderly condition.

· Follow established company rules and regulations, safety precautions, and maintain quality standards.

· Perform other related duties as required or as directed.

Qualification Requirements

Educational/Training Requirement:

· High School Diploma or equivalent

Experience:

· Ability to operate belt grinders.

· Must be mechanically inclined and able to deburr, sandblast, tape and inspect parts.

· Able to follow written and verbal instructions with the ability to read blue prints.

· Previous experience using prints, micrometers and vernier's a plus.

· Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection experience a plus.

Licenses/Certifications:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

· Use of reading, writing, adding and subtracting whole numbers, following instructions, use of fixed gauges, direct reading instruments and similar devices, where interpretation is not required.
