Provides basic and specialized teaching as required in the Plan of Care and documents the response of patients and/or family in the patient's record.

The Corporate & Licensing Paralegal is responsible for many facets of corporate maintenance such as creating and dissolving corporate entities, updating entity minutes and files, filing entities' annual reports, updating corporate records, obtaining and maintaining various operational licenses and permits for the company and its senior living communities, and responding to queries from corporate departments and the field. This position is hybrid, working 3 days in the Corporate Office and 2 days remote.
Principal Duties/Responsibilities:
Corporate Formation & Maintenance
Maintain corporate existence and good standing for all Benchmark-related entities, including annual report filings, coordination with accounting for payment of taxes and dba filings.
Maintain and update all minute books and share records for all Benchmark entities, including master entity listing chart. Act as keeper of record. Prepare and maintain organizational charts.
Form new Benchmark entities, including preparing organizational minutes and actions, qualify them in applicable states and maintain good standing for each Benchmark entity in each state in which it is qualified to do business; and maintain minute book summary sheets. Obtain corporate and tax good standing certificates as needed.
Identify entities that are ready for dissolution and prepare and file dissolutions and cancelations for Benchmark entities; update Entity Listing Chart.
Regulatory Licensing Maintenance
Assist the field with maintenance of business and building permits (in concert with Asset Management and its use of TELS technology). Assist field with preparation of documents to apply, renew and maintain such permits.
Manage preparation and timely submission of regulatory filings including new license filings, renewals, and any follow up with state agencies and CMS (Medicare).
Follow up with internal clients on any certification fees or post license renewal submission obligations.
Post all community regulatory licenses on intranet and provide updates for internal clients.
Prepare quarterly status update reports on regulatory license submissions.
Perform additional duties relating to corporate entities and licensing, as assigned.
Education/Experience/Licensure/Certification:
Bachelor's degree with five or more years' relevant experience in corporate law department of law firm
Required Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge of corporate/business law and entities, such as corporations, LLCs, limited partnerships, general partnerships, proprietorships and other aspects of corporate formation.
Demonstrates computer literacy and familiarity with a variety of office software, including but not limited to word processing, spreadsheets, databases and presentation software including Excel, Adobe, SharePoint and Microsoft Word.
Candidate should have familiarity with state regulatory and permitting agencies.
Must be a self-starter who is also willing to take on more responsibility as requested, and must be able to interact on a frequent basis with multiple disciplines across the organization.

The RDO also serves as a representative of Benchmark in industry forums, conferences, and professional events to showcase leadership, share best practices, and maintain a visible presence in the senior living field.
Responsibilities:
* Provide overall management of the Executive Directors of one or more Benchmark communities, including several CCRCs within a region providing IL, AL, MC and SNF services. In some instances may need to serve as an Interim Executive Director.
* Lead strategic planning and execution for operational excellence, with accountability for census growth, NOI performance, and clinical outcomes.
* Monitor KPIs and implement action plans where performance is below expectations.
* Responsible for innovating and implementing processes and procedures to enhance the development of talent and systems.
* Responsible for operational leadership of all communities, in some instances serving as an interim Executive Director.
