Benefits and Compensation Specialist
Guarantee Electrical 3.8
Benefit specialist job in Saint Louis, MO
JOIN OUR TEAM Guarantee Electrical is seeking a Benefits and Compensation Specialist who understands that total rewards is about more than numbers on a spreadsheet-it's about taking care of the people who build our success. You'll ensure our benefits truly serve our Partners' needs, transform complex programs into clear understanding, and build wellness initiatives that reflect who we are as an organization. If you believe that employee ownership changes everything about how we think about compensation, and you're passionate about creating programs that make a real difference in people's lives, we want to meet you.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Design Benefits That Actually Benefit You won't just administer benefits-you'll ensure they match the real needs of our Partners. This means analyzing utilization data, conducting Partner listening sessions, and understanding the difference between what people say they want and what they actually need. From healthcare to retirement, from parental leave to pet insurance, you'll build a benefits portfolio that reflects the diversity of our workforce and the reality of their lives.
Transform Complexity into Clarity Benefits shouldn't require a PhD to understand. You'll be our chief translator, turning insurance jargon into plain English and helping Partners understand the true value of their total rewards. You'll create communication campaigns, host education sessions, and develop tools that help Partners make informed decisions about their benefits. When a Partner's spouse asks "what does this mean for our family?"-you'll ensure they have a clear answer.
Build a Culture of Wellness You'll develop wellness initiatives that go beyond step challenges and fruit bowls. This means understanding what wellness looks like for office professionals versus field electricians, for new parents versus empty nesters. You'll create programs that address physical health, mental wellbeing, and financial wellness-recognizing that true wellness isn't one-size-fits-all. Your initiatives will reflect the Guarantee Way, focusing on sustainable habits, not quick fixes.
Champion the ESOP Advantage As an employee-owned company, our compensation philosophy is different-and you'll help Partners understand why that matters. You'll educate Partners on how ESOP ownership impacts their long-term wealth building, develop tools that show the real value of ownership, and ensure our compensation strategies align with our ownership culture. You'll help Partners think like owners, not just employees.
Navigate Compliance with Confidence You'll ensure we meet all federal, state, and local requirements without letting compliance drive our strategy. This means staying current on regulations from ACA to ERISA, managing audits and reporting, and partnering with legal and finance to ensure we're protected while still being progressive. You'll make compliance invisible to our Partners while keeping us bulletproof behind the scenes.
Leverage Data for Better Decisions You'll analyze benefits utilization, compensation trends, and wellness program participation to identify opportunities for improvement. You'll benchmark against industry standards while recognizing what makes Guarantee unique. Your recommendations will be grounded in data but guided by our values. You'll help leadership understand not just the cost of benefits, but the cost of not having the right benefits.
Support Partners Through Life's Moments When Partners face life's challenges-medical emergencies, family changes, financial hardships-you'll be their guide through available resources. You'll handle sensitive situations with empathy and professionalism, ensuring Partners feel supported, not processed. You'll be the human face of our benefits programs when Partners need it most.
Innovate for Tomorrow You'll keep us ahead of the curve by researching emerging benefits trends, evaluating new vendors, and proposing innovative solutions. Whether it's mental health apps, student loan assistance, or caregiving support, you'll help us anticipate Partner needs before they become retention issues. You'll balance innovation with practicality, ensuring new programs deliver real value.
WHAT YOU BRING
* Benefits Expertise: 5+ years of hands-on experience in benefits administration and program management. You've managed open enrollments, worked with brokers and carriers, and understand the full spectrum of employee benefits. You know ERISA, ACA, COBRA, and HIPAA aren't just acronyms-they're critical compliance requirements.
* Compensation Knowledge: Understanding of compensation structures, pay equity principles, and market pricing. Experience with salary surveys, job evaluations, and incentive plan design. ESOP experience is highly valued-you understand how employee ownership changes the compensation conversation.
* Communication Excellence: You can explain a high-deductible health plan to a 22-year-old project engineer and retirement planning to a 60-year-old project manager with equal effectiveness. Your written communications are clear and engaging. You can present to leadership and facilitate workshops with equal confidence.
* Analytical Skills: Proficiency with HRIS systems and advanced Excel skills. You can analyze utilization trends, model plan changes, and create dashboards that tell a story. You understand statistics but can explain findings without the math.
* Wellness Program Development: Experience designing and implementing wellness initiatives that actually drive engagement. You understand behavior change theory and know how to create programs that stick. You've measured ROI on wellness investments and can prove their value.
* Cultural Awareness: You understand that benefits and compensation are deeply personal topics tied to values, family, and identity. You approach every conversation with empathy and respect for individual circumstances. You recognize that equity doesn't always mean equal.
* Project Management: Ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously-from annual enrollment to wellness program launches. You're organized, detail-oriented, and never miss deadlines. You can lead cross-functional teams and vendor relationships with ease.
* Construction Industry Knowledge (Preferred): Understanding of union agreements, prevailing wage, certified payroll, and the unique benefits needs of field workers. You know why contractors care about EMR ratings and how safety impacts everything we do.
WHY GUARANTEE?
As our Benefits and Compensation Specialist, you'll have:
* Meaningful Impact: Your work directly affects the financial security and wellbeing of hundreds of Partners and their families-this isn't theoretical HR work, it's real-life impact
* ESOP Advantage: Work for an employee-owned company where your contributions to the company's success directly benefit you through ownership-you're building your own wealth while helping others build theirs
* Innovation Freedom: Leadership that's willing to try new approaches to benefits and wellness-if you can prove it will help our Partners, we'll find a way to make it happen
* Resources to Succeed: Investment in the tools, training, and partnerships needed to build best-in-class programs
* Career Growth: As we expand, our benefits and compensation needs become more sophisticated-this role is positioned to grow into senior leadership
* Values Alignment: Join an organization where taking care of people isn't just policy-it's fundamental to who we are
THE GUARANTEE WAY
This role embodies our five cultural pillars:
* Lessons Learned: You'll continuously gather feedback from Partners about what's working and what's not, using these insights to evolve our programs and avoid repeating mistakes
* Integration: You'll ensure our benefits and compensation programs unite rather than divide, creating equity across different roles, locations, and divisions
* High Risk Management: You'll protect our Partners and the company through compliant, well-designed programs that mitigate financial and health risks for everyone
* Data Driven Decisions: You'll use analytics to guide program design, prove ROI, and ensure every dollar spent on benefits delivers maximum value for our Partners
* Leadership Development: You'll empower Partners to take ownership of their health and wealth, providing the education and tools they need to make decisions that serve their long-term success
READY TO TAKE CARE OF THOSE WHO BUILD OUR SUCCESS?
If you're ready to be more than a benefits administrator-to be an advocate, educator, and architect of programs that truly serve our Partners-we want to meet you. Join us in proving that when you take care of your people, business success follows.
Guarantee Electrical is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to building a diverse and inclusive team.
