Bentley University company history timeline

1917

When Harry C. Bentley first convened a class of 30 students on Huntington Avenue in Boston in 1917, his goal was to educate the next generation of accountants.

1968

In 1968, Bentley moved from downtown Boston to Waltham, Massachusetts, to accommodate an increasing number of students.

1969

Lindsay Hall: home of the Koumantzelis Auditorium; opened 1969

1972

Boylston Apartments (A and B): opened 1972

1975

Kresge Hall: opened 1975

1977

Slade Hall: opened 1977

1979

Miller Hall: opened 1979

1980

Collins Hall: opened 1980

1983

President's House: opened 1983

2002

Student Center: opened 2002

2005

The college was accredited to confer its first doctoral degrees in the fields of business and accountancy in 2005.

Two years later Bentley expanded to include a graduate school that granted master’s degrees, and in 2005 the college began granting Ph.D.’s.

2008

In 2008, the school changed its name to Bentley University after being authorized by the state board of higher education to do so.

In 2008 the college was renamed Bentley University.

2018

Alison Davis-Blake, the former dean of the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota and of the Ross School of Business at the University of Michigan, became Bentley's eighth president in July 2018.

2021

Doctor Chrite is the former president of Bethune-Cookman University and began his tenure on June 1, 2021.Read President Chrite's Bio
