Bentley University seeks to fill a joint position as Lecturer of Finance, and Director of the Trading Room for academic year 2024-2025, to begin Fall 2024. The Director reports to the Chair of Finance Department and Sr Associate Dean of Business.
Trading Room Responsibilities:
The TR Director is responsible for the overall supervision of the Hughey Center for Financial Services/Trading Room. Specific responsibilities include supervising payroll, staff hiring/training; scheduling for events, preparing and forecasting budgets, purchasing; maintaining liaison with vendors, working on social media feeds and website, and working with the Academic Technology Center to identify appropriate technology and software needs for TR operations. The Director is also responsible for liaising with guest speakers, visitors, corporate guests, senior administrators, and trustees. The Director works with the Chair of Finance Department to recruit guest speakers for our Fireside Chats events - engaging alums and professional executives to present cutting-edge topics in finance, economics, management, and arts and science to faculty and students. The Director works with the Chair of Finance Department to develop and market executive training programs and Wall Street 101 programming.
Department of Finance Teaching Responsibilities:
In this capacity, the TR Director will teach five courses per year, as directed by the Chair of the Finance Department. Teaching typically will focus on introductory and upper-level courses at the undergraduate level. We are seeking candidates with experience teaching courses in Finance.
Minimum Qualifications:
The ideal candidate must have a graduate degree in finance or related discipline. Previous work experience in a trading room environment as a trader or in any managerial capacity at a financial services company is strongly desirable. The ability to teach trading concepts and design trading courses is a strong plus. Experience with securities valuation and developing trading rules using Excel is a must. The ideal candidate must be proficient with Bloomberg Terminal, including building Excel-based valuation models using Bloomberg API, Visual Basic, Pivot, Vlookups, macro, and goal-seeking. Familiarity with FactSet, Morningstar Direct, and CapIQ is also desirable. Travel to Boston, NYC, and Chicago, is required to maintain impactful external visibility with the financial community. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills (writing and oral) are a must.

LEGAL REQUIREMENTS
The Police Office of Public Safety must obtain and retain authority as a special state police officer in accordance with Massachusetts General Law c. 22c sec. 63. This position must meet the educational and training academy requirements in order to be certified as a Special State Police Officer as well as POST certification MGL 555 CMR 1.0 This position must meet all the requirements of becoming a Special Police Officer in the Town of Wellesley and Needham. Retention of valid Massachusetts Motor Vehicle Operator's License, Massachusetts Firearm License to Carry Class A is required.
This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) under the Clery Act, which is an individual to which students and employees should report criminal offenses or who has significant responsibility for student and campus activities. A CSA shall report all allegations of Clery Act crimes they receive to the Public Safety Department, so they may be investigated and published in the College's Annual Security and Fire Report.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Appointees to the Police Sergeant of Public Safety position must successfully complete a one-year probationary period. Permanent and continuing appointment is contingent upon successful completion of such training programs as designated by the Chief of Police or their designee.

About the Opportunity
The Bioinformatician will report to Ayan Paul, Research Scientist at EAI, and collaborate with Scientists and Clinicians from Peter Castaldi's group at the Harvard Medical School, John Platig's Network Biology group at the University of Virginia, and Jennifer Dy's group at ECE, Northeastern University. Responsibilities will include building an ETL pipeline for ENCODE genomics data, writing Python code for data analysis, and a downstream R pipeline for post-processing data using standard Bioinformatics libraries from Bioconductor. There will be opportunities to participate in building machine learning models, co-author publications, and contribute to grant proposals. Tentative start date: January 2024 for the Spring 2024 semester with possibilities of renewal. This work will contribute towards the understanding of genetic origins of complex diseases like Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and cutting-edge machine learning-based methodologies for regulation of mRNA splicing.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
Building ETL pipelines for genomics/transcriptomics data from public databases and processing them with publicly available codes in python and R.
Documenting the entire process and all the codes generated and maintaining structured and regular commits in a GitHub repository.
Helped implement machine learning models and automate the processing of input data.
Write reports/prepare slide decks describing work performed.
Contribute to scientific manuscripts and grant proposals where appropriate.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A Master's degree (or equivalent)
A minimum of 3-4 years of experience working with data pipelines and data analysis.
Proficiency in Python and R. Experience working in Unix OS and remote computing clusters.
Have demonstrable expertise in bioinformatics, especially genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics and/or metabolomics, and have a good grasp of statistics.
Experience working with genomics databases like ENCODE and familiarity with RNA-seq, eCLIP, and other data is highly desirable but not required.

Additionally, the applicant should have strong financial and operational management skills to ensure operational excellence and sustainable growth, with a demonstrated record of success in scholarly publications and/or obtaining external sources of funding. Candidates will have a strong record of building and maintaining productive education and research collaborations with a variety of stakeholders throughout the healthcare ecosystem.
