Coordinates with the Education Supervisor and Nursing Administration for the transfer of staff, assessing their educational needs and documenting and Educational Plan. Participates in the annual assessment of staff identified learning needs; plans in-services and programs based on those needs. Teach selected classes using principles of adult learning and utilize different teaching methods including electronic learning to provide education and the required documentation of educational activities. Participates and teaches continuing nursing education programs, which offer nursing continuing education credit which expands and or enhance the staff's knowledge. Works collaboratively with Nursing Administration to meet the changing clinical requirements of the profession through education. Writes and develops curriculum that meets educational standards of ANCC; establishes a plan and ensures regular systematic review of all programs. Write policies and procedures for the Department or in conjunction with the Clinical Department. Utilizes different teaching methods including electronic learning to provide education and the required documentation for educational activities. Supervises direct nursing care, when necessary, to patients in area of expertise as part of conducting training and or evaluation of orientees. The holding of a Master's Degree in public health, healthcare, accounting, allied health, clinical-related studies, compliance, audit, computer science, finance, education, law, privacy, information security, information governance, or another field related to the responsibilities of the position at hand, is a plus. • Certifications: Candidates who hold the “CCEP” or “CHC” designation from the Compliance Certification Board are strongly preferred. Inputs information in EMR and completes appropriate forms, logging them into the EMR. Collects ID's, insurance cards and any other applicable documents for record-keeping as well. Performs verification of health insurance benefits, conditions and requirements by utilizing eligibility systems and the internet, or phone calls as necessary. Ensures consents are completed and witnessed appropriately and in accordance with Medical Center policies for each Emergency Room and/or Hospital admission. Ensures all patients have a hospital identification wristband and ensure accurate patient information prior to placing on the patient. Accepts reservations for hospital admission including PESP admissions and Direct Admissions to the facility. Uses the hospital approved translation system to communicate with patients as needed. Create charts for patients in the Emergency Room. Answers and directs phone calls to the appropriate parties. Provides transportation vouchers and/or assistance upon discharge and reconciles with Patient Financial Services and the cashier's office as necessary. Acts as leader of the unit in absence of ED management for escalated concerns. Activates emergency response in accordance with departmental and medical center protocols. Makes code announcements as needed. Admits, discharges and transfers patients to and from units such as Emergency Room, Skilled Nursing Facility, Psychiatric Services, SDS, etc. Upon completion of services rendered, ensures complete chart is ready for HIM collection and stored securely and privately until it can be obtained by HIM. Assists with Admissions from other Outpatient Registration and Long-Term Care areas as needed. Notifies the supervisor about admissions that do not meet the hospital admissions criteria.
