Performs highly complex cost estimating assignments related to building, operating, and maintaining Metro's transportation projects.
Duties and Responsibilities
Prepares highly complex cost estimates and analyses for capital and professional services projects at concept, schematic, design development, and final design phases
Compiles and analyzes data on all factors that influence costs, such as material, labor, equipment, and profit
Evaluates cost estimate and analysis deliverables prepared by consultants for cost-containment, accuracy, uniformity, and completeness
Conducts construction/project site visits gathering relevant information and determines what information to be used to produce project estimates
Performs technical quality reviews of quotes, bids, change orders, value engineering reports, and claims for accuracy and completeness of stated costs
Acquires and evaluates pricing documents and historical and vendor cost data for the development of cost estimates and price recommendations
Accurately forecasts costs of future projects and changes to existing projects
Prepares technical evaluations, cost estimating draft reports, memoranda, and letters, and presents recommendations to management
Leads project specific estimating teams that are internal to Metro Estimating
Oversees, trains, mentors, and guides assigned staff
Communicates and implements safety rules, policies, and procedures in support of the agency's safety vision and goals; and maintains accountability for the safety performance of all assigned employees

Essential Knowledge

About the position:
Estimating Manager
MAJOR FUNCTION
Provides Corporate Estimating Support to all districts. Estimating managers are responsible for estimating the cost of projects and materials. They work with a variety of different teams, including construction crews, purchasing agents, and other managers to determine how much it will cost to complete a project or purchase certain materials.
Reports to the Local Regional Vice President and Vice President of Estimating.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

Thorough knowledge of company procedure, estimating techniques, all engineering disciplines, cost control systems and accounts required.
Ability to estimate all types of projects/contracts, plus ability to coordinate and supervise group work effort essential.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Ability to communicate orally and in writing with vendors, management, and other coworkers, both individually and in front of a group
Regular use of the telephone and email for communication is essential
Thorough knowledge of HCSS Heavy Bid and Microsoft office.

Job Title: Senior Cost Estimator

RIB U.S.COST ****************** is seeking a skilled Senior Cost Estimator to join our production estimating team, supporting Aviation, Federal Agencies, DoD, and State/Local government projects. The role involves preparing and coordinating detailed cost estimates across various project phases, ensuring alignment with client goals, budgets, and design constraints. This position is ideal for a professional with deep expertise in construction cost estimation, a collaborative mindset, and a passion for leveraging innovative methods and technology in project delivery. Aviation and healthcare experience is preferred.
Key responsibilities
Develop and manage cost estimates for large and complex projects at all design stages.
Collaborate with architects, engineers, and clients to ensure accurate cost management.
Interpret and work with architectural and engineering drawings and specifications.
Utilize industry-standard estimating tools and software for detailed pricing and resource allocation.
Support value engineering, progress reviews, and project optimization initiatives
Maintain a high level of professionalism and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Adheres to all policies related to the handling of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).
Essential requirements
Bachelor's degree in architecture, engineering, or construction management (or related field).
8 plus years of experience in the estimating field with a cost consultancy or contractor.
Expertise in all discipline scopes of work
Proficiency in computer skills including Microsoft 365.
Possess excellent written and oral communications skills
Working knowledge of typical estimating software
Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment.
Desired skills
AACEI Certification or the ability to get certified within 1 year of employment
US Citizenship (desirable)
Experience using OST, MCACES (MII), Success Estimator, CostX, Cost OS, Timberline, is preferred but not required
Strong desire to learn or expand upon new methods and software

RIB U.S. COST is seeking Construction Cost Estimators, with experience specializing in high value capital improvement programs in excesses of to $2 billion for aviation, transportation, healthcare, and federal sector projects to join our Alpharetta, GA team to provide conceptual through definitive estimates. RIB is a leader in providing project controls related services across all vertical markets within the construction industry. The ideal candidate will become part of team that is setting new standards in Project Delivery for industry in applying new methods and new technology to create innovative and value-added results to every step of the process. This position is hybrid: 2 days in Alpharetta office and 3 days remote.
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Prepare and/or coordinate the preparation of full estimates on large and complex projects as required by client's documents
Analyze and negotiate contractor change orders and claims on behalf of the client
Consult with clients, architects, subcontractors, and material suppliers to discuss and formulate estimates, effect cost reductions, and resolve issues.
Support the development of energy and sustainability analysis
Perform miscellaneous other job-related duties as assigned, which may include value engineering and progress review conferences
Requirements:
Ability to develop estimates at multiple phases from early design through to construction.
Knowledge of, and proficiency in discipline-related systems
Four-year degree in a related field
At least five (5) years of experience as a construction cost estimator is required
At least three (3) years experience with a contractor during the construction phase of a project is strongly desired.
Proficient with M365 OFFICE suite and collaboration tools
Proficient utilizing automated estimating tools including CostOS, On Screen Takeoff and Bluebeam
Effective oral and written communication skills
Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team environment
Exhibit a high degree of professionalism in the production of deliverables and in interactions with fellow employees and clients
Strong desire to learn or expand upon new methods and software.
