The Claims Manager is responsible for providing leadership and expertise to a team of bodily injury/liability claims adjusters. This position will also help answer coverage questions and solve problems, develop technical training and development plans, work with our customers to provide an excellent customer experience, and participate in projects to help the department improve and evolve. Candidate must work out of the Jacksonville, FL office. Key Functions will include but not be limited to: Shape the future strategy of the department as part of the claim's leadership team. Monitor workload assignments for commercial bodily injury claims personnel Recommend staffing plans and participate in the hiring of new commercial bodily injury claims personnel based on business needs Work with the claims adjusters to solve problems and get the best outcomes of the claim Collaborate with other departments, including actuary and underwriting, individual claims, Best Practices and trends Develop the team's expertise in claim handling procedures in accordance with Best Practices Manage the department's inventory of claims to include: Ensuring team conducts thorough investigations to determine coverage and liability Ensuring proper reserves are set for exposures to the Company Ensuring appropriate evaluation, negotiation, and settlement claims within authority levels. Ensuring Identification and pursuit of recovery opportunities (salvage, subrogation, etc.). Ensuring appropriate and thorough litigation process Develop team in negotiation and settlement skills Develop training programs and procedures, and conduct department-specific training Review and streamline claims processes, including automating tasks as needed Work with direct reports on career development and aspirations Conduct performance reviews and give constructive and positive feedback to direct reports Speak with customers when added expertise is needed or issues arise that need extra assistance Qualifications Bachelor's Degree 8+ years commercial auto/bodily injury claim experience 1+ years management experience Knowledge of evaluating injury exposures Ability to function in a fast-paced work environment and tolerate stress Demonstrated success exercising independent decision making, problem solving and effective negotiation skills Excellent oral and written communication skills Additional Company Details We do not accept any unsolicited resumes from external recruiting agencies or firms. Responsibilities Carolina Casualty is looking for a talented experienced BI Adjuster who will be responsible for the investigation, evaluation, disposition and settlement of moderate to complex claims involving commercial automobile losses. This includes the investigation, determination and evaluation of coverage, liability and damages, risk transfer, and the timely setting of proper reserves. In addition, the Claims professional will control the insured's exposures and losses, manage consultants, and achieve a prompt, fair and equitable settlement according to fair claims handling requirements. Lastly the Claims professional will negotiate settlement of claims with varying complexity and perils. Key Functions will include but not be limited to: Oversee and resolve truck, bus, commercial auto and/or public transportation claims. Conducts a prompt, thorough and fair investigation by obtaining relevant facts to determine coverage, origin, and extent of loss losses. Utilize critical thinking and solid judgment to solve problems, make decisions and resolve complex issues inherent in handling losses, as well as plan and organize activities throughout the claim's management process. Able to write concise reports and effectively communicate contractual issues, technical legal concepts and coverage application in easy to understand terms. Act timely upon emerging information to insure ongoing recognition of the financial exposure on losses within assigned authority as well as promptly communicate to management, if beyond the assigned level of authority. Interpret related claims documentation. Initiate and oversee serious automobile accident investigations and rapid response Develop strategies and effective plans that drive claims to better results Accurately assess and resolve commercial auto insurance coverage issues, analyze facts and allegations in conjunction with all policy provisions, endorsements and amendments Draft declination, Reservation of Rights and other coverage letters Negotiate outstanding settlements Present case statuses/summaries in a clear, concise and understandable manner Documents and communicates all claim activities timely and effectively and in a manner, which supports the outcome of the claim file Experience with Self-Insured Retention (SIR) is a plus Experience with PIP claims is a plus. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree 5 + years commercial auto claims adjusting experience Adjuster License required Key Competencies Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Support in the Selection, negotiation, and help manage freight forwarders, 3PLs, and carriers for ocean, air, and ground transport. - Develop strategies to minimize transit time, costs, and environmental impact. Import/Export & Compliance: Oversee import/export documentation and customs compliance across North America- including US, CAN, MX and South America. Ensure compliance with regulations around lithium-ion battery transport (UN38.3, IATA, DOT). Maintain up-to-date knowledge of trade tariffs, duties, and international shipping restrictions. Inventory & Warehouse Coordination: Optimize inventory turns and proactively manage aging inventory. Reporting and managing with team to minimize excess inventory and ensure satisfactory levels of safety stock. Coordinate inbound and outbound logistics with global warehouses and fulfillment partners. Partner with supply planning and operations teams to maintain optimal inventory levels. Implement systems and processes to track and report stock movements in real time. Process Optimization & Systems/Data Analytics and Reporting: Identify and implement continuous improvements across logistics operations, from shipping accuracy to cost control. Improve reverse logistics process for damage claims, DOA etc. Help to coordinate logistics for battery recycle program. Metric reporting: Develop and manage KPIs around on-time delivery, freight spend, and inventory accuracy. Partner with IT and operations teams to enhance ERP/WMS integration and visibility. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Product, Sales, Marketing and After-Sales teams to forecast demand and ensure seamless order fulfillment. Support new product launches by coordinating logistics readiness, packaging, and customs strategy. Lead communication on logistics timelines and constraints with internal and external stakeholders. Serve as the escalation point for complex order or customer issues, ensuring timely and professional resolution. Take active ownership from PO receipt to customer invoicing, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and excellent service standards. Coach, mentor, and develop team members to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and customer satisfaction. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or related field (Master's preferred). 6+ years of logistics, supply chain, or operations management experience in consumer electronics, automotive, or outdoor products-preferably eMobility or eBike sector. Strong understanding of international freight, customs, and regulatory compliance. Experience managing lithium-ion battery shipments strongly preferred. Proficiency with ERP and logistics software (SAP, NetSuite, or similar) and ability to learn custom-built software. Strong ability in reporting and data analysis with PowerBI, Excel Strong ownership and sense of responsibility to identify pain points and make recommendations on how to improve processes and drive process improvements with collaborative mindset. Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills. Proven ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment.
