    WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR Primarily responsible for the analysis, management and resolution of lien cases. Attends lien hearings and negotiates resolution of provider liens in an assigned caseload of workers' compensation claims. This position will work closely with the Lien Resolution and Medical Bill Review teams to ensure efficient and cost-effective resolution of liens. RESPONSIBILITIESReview claim files and provide thorough analysis of lien issues Analyze and implement lien strategy and resolution plans at the file level; direct cases toward resolution; thoroughly document all activities in the lien/claim file Research case law, statutes, and regulations on a variety of topics including lien resolution, and transform data researched into practical solutions Ensure the efficient and cost-effective resolution of liens; negotiate liens within appropriate financial authority, parameters set by department leadership, and in accordance with all applicable laws and regulations Present settlement documents before the WCABBy applying legal knowledge, skill and ability, zealously represent BHHC at hearings; thoroughly report on appearances Provide legal support to Lien Unit as it relates to all types of lien issues present on files Draft petitions, correspondence and documentation Effectively and appropriately communicate with fellow workers, including Claims, attorneys, hearing representatives, lien claimants, judges, and court personnel HOW YOU'D FIT INEDUCATION: Hearing Representative Certification or J.D. preferred EXPERIENCE: Minimum of three (3) years workers' compensation claims experience handling liens or equivalent Excellent negotiation skills required LANGUAGE ABILITY: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret legal and professional journals, technical procedures, laws, and governmental regulations; ability to write and interpret legal and business correspondence and reports; ability to effectively present research, make compelling and persuasive arguments, and professionally respond to questions from attorneys, hearing representatives, lien claimants, judges, and court personnel COMPUTER SKILLS: Ability to effectively use Microsoft Office software and be able to master and become proficient proprietary and vended software programs REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists; ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form; relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals ANALYTICAL ABILITY: Ability to conduct legal research, analyze data and prepare recommendations; demonstrated ability to interpret and apply laws and regulations; ability to derive appropriate conclusions from research; strong attention to detail Ability to work remotely and regularly travel to various hearings and meetings as required In accordance with the California Equal Pay Act, the pay scale for this job is $65,000 to $90,000. This pay scale is an estimate of the salary range the employer reasonably expects to pay for the position based on potential employee qualifications, operational needs and other considerations consistent with applicable law.
