We are currently sourcing candidates for a Machine Operator in our Flattening & Tumbling department at our Euclid, OH facility. This person will be responsible for the flattening and tumbling processes for various manufactured parts. The primary role involves operating specialized machinery to ensure products meet precise quality, surface finish, and dimensional specifications before final assembly or shipment.
Job responsibilities also include, but not limited to:
Set up, operate, and monitor flattening presses, roll leveling machines, or tumbling/vibratory finishing equipment (e.g., rotating barrels, vibratory drums).
Load raw parts and appropriate finishing media into the machines, and unload finished products.
Monitor machine cycles, observing dial indicators and controls to regulate speed, duration, and pressure to ensure products conform to specifications and detect jamming or malfunctions.
Inspect and measure raw materials and finished products to verify conformance to technical drawings, blueprints, and quality standards, rejecting non-conforming items.
Select and add appropriate cleaning/finishing compounds and abrasive media based on the material type and the desired finish (e.g., rough cut, pre-finish, polish).
Clean and dry parts after processing.
Perform routine maintenance and cleaning on the equipment, troubleshoot minor issues, and adhere strictly to all safety guidelines and protocols for working with heavy machinery and materials.
Record and report production and quality data, including process parameters, test results, and maintenance performed, ensuring product traceability.
Proper selection of bricks for part loading.
Proper visual inspection and handling of green and finished parts.
Proper/safe loading and unloading of parts, including sand.
Monitoring and recording of speed and temperature for assigned furnaces and make the proper adjustments as needed.
Perform inspections and record results on proper form using simple tools as micrometers, dial calipers, and dial indicators.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED
One year experience in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
Position demands the ability to use basic arithmetic and to interpret and adhere to specification requirements.
Ability to read and interpret technical documents, blueprints, and work instructions.
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
Physical stamina and the ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
Basic computer skills for data entry and documentation.
