We are seeking a Data Scientist for our First Quality facilities located in McElhattan, PA; Lewistown, PA; and Macon, GA.
**Must have manufacturing experience with consumer goods.**
The role will provide meaningful insight on how to improve our current business operations. This position will work closely with domain experts and SMEs to understand the business problem or opportunity and assess the potential of machine learning to enable accelerated performance improvements.
Principle Accountabilities/Responsibilities
Design, build, tune, and deploy divisional AI/ML tools that meet the agreed upon functional and non-functional requirements within the framework established by the Enterprise IT and IS departments.
Perform large scale experimentation to identify hidden relationships between different data sets and engineer new features
Communicate model performance & results & tradeoffs to stake holders
Determine requirements that will be used to train and evolve deep learning models and algorithms
Visualize information and develop engaging dashboards on the results of data analysis.
Build reports and advanced dashboards to tell stories with the data.
Lead, develop and deliver divisional strategies to demonstrate the: what, why and how of delivering AI/ML business outcomes
Build and deploy divisional AI strategy and roadmaps that enable long-term success for the organization that aligned with the Enterprise AI strategy.
Proactively mine data to identify trends and patterns and generate insights for business units and management.
Mentor other stakeholders to grow in their expertise, particularly in AI / ML, and taking an active leadership role in divisional executive forums
Work collaboratively with the business to maximize the probability of success of AI projects and initiatives.
Identify technical areas for improvement and present detailed business cases for improvements or new areas of opportunities.
Qualifications/Education/Experience Requirements
PhD or master's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science or other relevant discipline.
5+ years of experience using large scale data to solve problems and answer questions.
Prior experience in the Manufacturing Industry.
Skills/Competencies Requirements
Experience in building and deploying predictive models and scalable data pipelines
Demonstrable experience with common data science toolkits, such as Python, PySpark, R, Weka, NumPy, Pandas, scikit-learn, SpaCy/Gensim/NLTK etc.
Knowledge of data warehousing concepts like ETL, dimensional modeling, and sematic/reporting layer design.
Knowledge of emerging technologies such as columnar and NoSQL databases, predictive analytics, and unstructured data.
Fluency in data science, analytics tools, and a selection of machine learning methods - Clustering, Regression, Decision Trees, Time Series Analysis, Natural Language Processing.
Strong problem solving and decision-making skills
Ability to explain deep technical information to non-technical parties
Demonstrated growth mindset, enthusiastic about learning new technologies quickly and applying the gained knowledge to address business problems.
Strong understanding of data governance/management concepts and practices.
Strong background in systems development, including an understanding of project management methodologies and the development lifecycle.

Oversee and conduct human health risk assessments for ingredients, materials, and finished products, with a focus on regulatory compliance and consumer safety.
Author and manage the toxicology sections of regulatory submissions, ensuring scientific rigor, clarity, and completeness
Direct the design, execution, and interpretation of toxicology studies, including in vitro and computational toxicology, often in collaboration with CROs.
Evaluate and interpret toxicological data, including studies from scientific literature, to determine potential health impacts and support the development of scientific positions.
Serve as a regulatory-facing subject matter expert, representing the company in FDA meetings, scientific conferences, and industry forums.

**Qualifications**
- REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

We are seeking a Scientist - Home Care Formulations for our First Quality Home Care Products, LLC facility located in Trumbull, CT. This role involves planning and performing laboratory assignments: formulating Fabric Enhancement (FE) formulations: LFS (Liquid Fabric Softener) or new generation of FSS (Fabric Softener Sheets), the measurement of their physical properties, validation of formulations stability, and participate in the formulations' performance testing. The individual draws conclusions based on data/observations, proposes, plans and executes the next steps. The Scientist functions as part of an integrated cross functional R&D team.
Primary responsibilities include:
Actively seeks to understand and utilizes the understanding of chemical structures, their function relationships and interactions in the FE formulation matrices: FSL, FSS
Participates in design and conducts experiments to formulate desired NBE (national Brand Equivalent) performance matrices/formulations
Reviews data, provides preliminary interpretation and draws conclusions. Proposes and executes the next steps/strategies of development efforts. Reports progress/issues on a timely basis
Ensures accuracy of generated data during laboratory testing and reports according to standard operating procedures or customer requirements
Obtains data to evaluate the composition and performance of the NB and competitive formulations/products
Coordinates necessary tasks and discussions with R&D cross-functional teams to ensure the tasks are executed in a timely manner
Works closely with R&D's cross-functional teams: marketing, matrices/formulations testing, processing/engineering, and manufacturing during the development and commercialization of the FE formulations
Works closely with business partners: supply chain, finance, purchasing when appropriate
As needed, helps providing subject matter expert support regarding the off-specs formulations/batches
Helps preparing presentations to the Ownership, management, customers and/or clients
Conducts laboratory work and equipment maintenance in accordance with standard operating procedures
Maintains laboratory notebook in accordance with standard operating procedures
Ensures the laboratory is kept in a clean, orderly, and safe manner and reports any deficiencies
Performs IP review for FTP studies
The ideal candidate should possess the following:
Education - Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry or equivalent Science or Engineering related field
•Experience - 2+ years of relevant laboratory and industry experience
• Strong communication skills and ability to utilize good judgement to make timely, practical, and technically sound decisions
Physical Requirements:
Significant amount of time at a bench or a computer station. On rare occasions there is a need to lift up to twenty (20) pounds.
Estimated annual base salary range for this position is $75,000- $85,000
Base pay is only part of our total compensation package, which also includes an attractive annual discretionary bonus and robust suite of employee benefits for which you are eligible to participate in starting on your first day of employment.
Base pay offered will be determined on an individualized basis and we will consider your location, experience, and other job-related factors.

Knowledge of and experience with developing product systems for the retail market, preferably hygiene products
Knowledge of materials used in retail absorbent products (e.g. pulp, super absorbent polymers, nonwovens).
Working knowledge of consumer product converting technologies for pulp, paper and nonwoven materials.
Experience with the process of searching, evaluating and filing patents.
Experience providing direction for the physical testing of hypotheses, resulting in specific conclusions and recommendations.
Able to speak, read and write the English language and have strong oral and written communication skills.
Good analytical skills, with working knowledge of basic statistics.
Good computer skills in Microsoft Office program.
Able to travel ~20-30% to US and International for product and process trials.
