Advancement opportunity not really there. Also they do two rounds off layoffs per year.

I was able to Learn and grow in what I was doing.
The location I was at Had a Pay Cap. I could not receive any more Raises Even If I deserved it. The Micro market wasn't set that way for that location.
The People. I Very much enjoyed the interaction with My fellow coworkers & customers.
The CEO, I can't say much about. But the Leadership Team would at least hear our points of view as workers there.
For the Leaders to take more than a moment and see the workers are People and not Cogs in a machine. All leaders get busy that a fact. Love and Thoughtfulness Still needs to be mixed in.
1. I would check if they hadn't planned for a specific person for the role. Didn't want to waste my time. 2. I would check my knowledge base to know to see I can add to the role. Or take a chance and Grow. 3. Just do it.
It's starting to become more and more average. Compensation has changed a lot since covid. Even Healthcare benefits from best buy have been less inside it the last 2 years.
That's all I hear. I'm just glad they hired some guy's so I could talk to someone who could relate to Me.

Lets hire and train based on diversity versus actual knowledge of the products and services sold. I fear nothing but the worst for the company I hoped to make a career of....and that saddens me. We were right on the cusp of doing and being something great.

Work/Life balance as a manager is non-existent. Pay was always a mystery including bonus targets (would often get them for a time frame that already passed making it impossible to do anything about it).

Bestbuy employees get a pretty good discount on most items, some a lot more than others
The company really takes care of their employees. Cooperate leadership seems to want to create a great environment to work in, and they do really well.
The in-store employee experience isn't great. Often times you get leaders who have been there way too long and they don't care anymore or their leaders won't take care of problems because "they've been there for over 10 years, I doubt that'd really happen."

Also, if you report a higher up for doing something wrong "even if you report them anonymously" the manager finds out who reported them and confronts them about it, usually in a negative maner.

I have worked at 4 different locations and each one is vastly different from the next. At some, I felt like I was part of a family, at another, my GM gave away my position to another employee without asking and just moved me to another department with no notice.

Best Buy is a decent job for college students who don't have experience waiting tables and don't want to work in a dangerous kitchen.
The managers at Best Buy are unaccommodating to student's who have busy schedules. I had a difficult time working my shifts around my hours.
My favorite perk was the employee discount. It saved me a lot of money on screens and cases for my phone.
I worked front lanes, as a cashier, so it was a fairly easy job.
The store was dirty, I was the only person to check and throw out expired food although each person was supposed to each shift, lifting heavy drinks to bring to the front, mismanagement, trying to force me to do sales in areas I wasn't properly trained or knowledgable in

Working with the people were mostly fun. Game nights.
Some departments were a bit clique-y; Black Friday is terrible; Management played favorites all the time; losing company - couldn't adapt to the online shopping world and expectations.
