About the Role - General Maintenance Mechanic The General Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for general shift coverage including guest requests and overall hotel maintenance requests. The General Maintenance Mechanic must possess strong trouble-shooting skills in all areas of maintenance including guest rooms, meeting space, public areas, and back of house areas including kitchen, laundry, electrical, mechanical and HVAC systems. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in mechanical HVAC and will be responsible for maintaining all HVAC equipment with the support of others on the Engineering team, in addition to fulfilling all other general engineering maintenance responsibilities. Basic Job Duties and Expectations: * Responds to guest request calls * Performs routine public area and guest room repairs * Performs routine mechanical, plumbing and electrical troubleshooting and repairs in guest rooms * Performs repairs and maintenance on kitchen equipment * Occasionally is required to paint, typically as a part of repairs to areas where work was performed. * Responsible for ongoing and preventative maintenance and minor repairs to all laundry equipment including washers, dryers, and all other equipment in the laundry department. * Assists Engineering department and hotel through awareness and participation in energy management program * Creates and submits purchase requisitions for approval and maintains adequate stock of tools and materials needed to perform job duties. * Maintains inventory of parts and tools. * Acts as a part of the emergency response team at the hotel, as necessary, in the event of an emergency. * Responds to any trouble calls or codes (1-4) that are called. * Assists with set up of equipment for special events * May assist in providing direction to employees of classifications Engineer A and B * May assist highly skilled Engineering personnel with other items such as Refrigeration and HVAC maintenance, etc. * Maintains maintenance log and records. * May be required to perform other duties as required by Management. Represent the hotel with enthusiasm, professionalism and businesslike appearance and demeanor to all hotel guests, clients, prospective clients, and agents, as well as, to the community. Adhere to all laws and regulations regarding workplace safety and health. Educate employees on such laws and regulations and actively promote their adherence to those laws and regulations. Specific Responsibilities Complete and post daily work checklists and special project checklists. Conduct daily tours of all hotel facilities to discover and correct maintenance deficiencies, conditions that negatively affect guest experience and conditions that risk the security safety or health of the hotel, guests, or other visitors. Including but not limited to, trash disposal in public areas. Report and investigate losses of company assets. Tactfully and professionally handle special guest situations and problems. Report guest comments to the general manager and the front desk staff. Respond to written and verbal work orders originating from the front desk, housekeeping staff and management. Deliver requested items to guestrooms, such as bedding, pillows, cribs, rollaway beds, towels, light bulbs and supplies when requested by the supervisor or front desk staff. Report the status of maintenance assignments to the front desk, housekeeping, and management. Repair and clean mechanical equipment. Perform preventative maintenance on mechanical equipment. Complete special projects, including but not limited to, painting, refinishing, plumbing, flooring, wall treatments, landscaping, demolition, construction, electrical, carpentry, refrigeration, and other projects. Repair and clean furniture, fixtures, and equipment in the hotel's guest rooms, public areas, storerooms, offices, workshops, support areas, garage, and outdoor areas. Secure guestrooms, storerooms, mechanical rooms, and work areas. Secure hotel equipment and supplies. Maintain comprehensive records on guestroom maintenance and preventive maintenance. Complete other assignments and perform other duties as directed by management. Performance Standards: Annual performance evaluations are subjected to contributions of measurable value to hotel metrics and goals. Shift Schedule: This is a full-time role, scheduled for 5 days a week with 8-hour shifts. Availability on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday is required, as these are the hotel's highest occupancy days. Two weekdays off will be scheduled and can be discussed during the interview process. While the position primarily operates on a fixed schedule, the ideal candidate should be available for occasional after-hours calls in the event of urgent maintenance issues or emergencies. We aim to respect work-life balance while ensuring the property remains fully operational and guest-ready at all times. This position is budgeted for 40 hours per week, typically scheduled in 8-hour shifts across 5 days.
