**Duties/Responsibilities:** + Provides patient care and technological expertise during endoscopic procedures, as delegated and under the direction of physicians and other licensed department staff. + Prepares the procedure area with all diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy supplies and equipment. + Assesses the condition of all equipment. Responsible for the proper decontamination, inspection, assembly and sterilization of surgical instruments. Operate processing equipment. Proficient in instrument decontamination and assembly and will be aware of the sterilization methods available and which is appropriate in correlation with the devices that are to be processed. In addition to performing the duties of a CSPD Technician I, this position works in a specialty area and/or performs advanced or additional responsibilities. Documents all load contents, interfaces load to tracking system, loads cycle confirming correct parameter, monitors sterilizer to tracking system, records all pertinent information. Unloads sterilizers ensuring items are not compromised and stores in correct location according to tracking system storage locations. Located at Peabody Medical Center:Under the general guidance and direction of the CSP Operations Supervisor, Lead Sterile Processing Technician, the Sterile Processing Technician 1 utilizes entry level skill sets to enact Sterile Processing functions as directed. The Sterile Processing Technician 1 works with preceptors and the Sterile Processing Lead Technician to develop the skills required to independently perform all primary functions. Primary Sterile Processing responsibilities include receiving instrumentation, sorting and decontamination of procedural items and instrumentation; inspection and assembly of minor instrument groups and instrument trays; identification of respective sterilization method and cycle selection, accurate documentation for all sterile processes; and accurate inventory assignment relating to the casebuilding process. Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to: Decontamination & Cleaning: Dons and doffs Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required by national standards and guidelines. Communicates supply needs within decontamination area to the PeriOp Specialist, including cleaning brushes, enzymatic detergent solutions, PPE, and test monitoring supplies. Performs routine tests on all mechanical equipment to ensure compliance with manufacturer's guidelines and national standards, including but not limited to automated washers/disinfectors, ultrasonic machines, cartwashers, detergent-dispensing units, flushing devices. Receives soiled or new equipment (instrumentation, scopes, supplies, etc. ) from the Operating Room or the procedural clinics throughout the system; documenting receipt via the tracking system; decontaminate said equipment according to policies and procedures. Disassembles equipment as necessary before proceeding with the required cleaning method(s). Identifies repair needs from either communication from the Operating Room or upon inspection of the received soiled/new instrumentation and relaying that communication to the PeriOp Specialist, CSP Operations Supervisor, or Sterile Processing Lead Technician. Utilizes appropriate cleaning equipment to achieve decontamination, including cleaning brushes, enzymatic detergent solutions, flushing devices, ultrasonic machines, and leak test devices. Cleans and disinfects workstation by utilizing with antibacterial wipes and solutions upon work completion or as needed. Obtain and enter necessary medical history data in preparation for a cardiovascular diagnostic procedure. Assist in conducting cardiology diagnostic exams through use of a treadmill cycle, ergometer or pharmacologic infusion. Attach electrodes to patient for the purpose of securing pertinent data and obtain the patient's resting, exercise and recovery electrocardiograms. 2. Monitor oscilloscope and vital signs to ensure patient's safety; monitor medical conditions warranting immediate support of other medical personnel (i.e. high grade ventricular/atrial ectopy, ST elevation/depression). Review previous test results for patients who have undergone other cardiac evaluations (i.e. catheterizations, echocardiography tests, and cardiac isoenzymes). 3. Collect and collate data and ensure a correct exercise test data sheet is prepared and reviewed by a physician or clinical physiologist. Alert physician/clinical physiologist to any suspicious or abnormal findings. Under the direction of a physician, handle placement by venipuncture of a butterfly or angiocath catheter for prescribed tests or in situations where procedures are warranted. 4. Maintain laboratory inventory; order supplies as needed to maintain stock par levels. Review medication inventory to replace expired pharmacological supplies. Maintain standing orders. Oversee maintenance needs of laboratory equipment; review status of equipment on a regular basis to ensure optimum operating condition. 5. Provide technical expertise in training and/or educating medical students, students participating in an educational internship and attending Cardiology Fellows on a monthly basis. Review laboratory and equipment operational guidelines; act as a resource for orientation purposes. **Required Qualifications:** 1.
