The ED Tech performs multiple clinical responsibilities in coordination with a team of healthcare providers to expedite the flow of patients through the department and provide the best experience and care for patients.
Job Description:Essential Responsibilities:Prioritizes and completes responsibilities delegated by nurses and physicians.
Maintains a calm and professional demeanor work while working in fast pace, highly demanding environment.
(essential) Performs a variety of duties including EKGs, phlebotomy, wound care, splinting, crutch walking, and patient activities of daily living.
Assists providers in the delivery of care and assists patients who have physical and psychological limitations, transport patients and specimens.
Performs phlebotomy and specimen collection and point of service lab testing according to protocol and quality control standards.
Communicates results to the appropriate staff and documents in the medical record.
Maintains supply inventory needed to maintain daily operations.
Stocks supplies, linen or office goods.
Ensures used equipment is cleaned by appropriate process and is ready for the next patient.

**Job Description:**

**Position Summary:**
The Patient Care Technician will provide basic care activities and provide personal needs, comfort and safety of your patient. The Patient Care Technician assists with the delivery of patient care under the direction of the Registered Nurse. The primary responsibility will be focus on performing technical, therapeutic, administrative tasks and procedures for which they have been trained. The Patient Care Technician must demonstrate the ability and willingness to participate in a patient care team as a multi-skilled caregiver responsible for quality of own work and remain flexible in response to change.

Clinical Procedural Technician in the Invasive Cardiology Holding Unit30 hours per week (varying shift length, but ending by 8:30pm) Monday-Friday, no weekends or major holidays :Under supervision of the nurse manager and tertiary team leader, the clinical procedure technician works to ensure optimal patient flow, provide assistance to registered nurses, advanced practitioners, and physician staff in providing care to pre, post, and peri procedural patients.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities including but not limited to:1.
Assists physician during procedures by assisting with procedural equipment, maintaining patient safety and gathering all equipment required and needed during a procedure.

Prepares procedural rooms and readiness of equipment including by not limited to, general floor stock or medical supplies, point of care equipment, procedural room and probe maintenance.
3.
Uses sterile techniques to set up for the procedure, such as opening up sterile packs and preparing instruments, sterile table and prepping & draping the patient with sterile sheets.
4.
Prepares patients for procedures and performs vital signs at designated frequency, reporting abnormal results to RN5.
Performs EKGs as delegated by RN6.
Monitors patient's status during the procedure; reports potential changes to registered nurse or physician.
7.
Compiles patient's test results and records in patient record via the EMR and ancillary systems.
8.
Keeps equipment in working order to ensure safe operation.
Applies proper infection control cleaning procedures to equipment and lab.
9.
Calibrates and troubleshoots all equipment as needed.
10.
Restocks lab for next day's procedures, keeping supervisor apprised of needed supplies.
11.
Assists with recording supply charges for provided services in EPIC and peoplesoft.
12.
Performs other related duties as required or assigned, including transport of patients to and from the assigned clinical area13.
Prepares procedural bays and stretchers, cleaning all equipment per LHMC/LMCP policy 14.
Cross train to function as Unit coordinator with the following responsibilities a.

Maintains customer service by facilitating phone calls to the unit, visitation, patient flow, and general phone call inquiries15.
Performs High Level Disinfection a.
Disinfect all invasive and noninvasive probes according to manufacturer guidelines b.
Maintains integrity of decontamination room ensuring probes are cleaned, labeled, and stored properly c.
Maintains decontamination system per manufacturer guidelines by performing regular filter changes etc.

Maintains par level of HLD equipment for decontamination room e.
Maintain annual competency in HLD per hospital guidelines16.
Under the direction of the registered nurse, assists in the following: a.
Managing bedside emergencies including access site bleeding, lethal arrhythmias, and respiratory compromise b.
Discontinuation of peripheral IVs c.
Point of care testing d.
Performs pre procedure care and prep of planned access sites e.
Identify and report any potential abnormalities at the access site f.
Records and reports vital signs g.
Recognizes lethal arrhythmias and reports to the RN immediately17.
Assists in peri-procedural phase under the supervision of the registered nurse to: a.
Process specimens per policy as applicable b.
Participate in universal protocol c.
Directly assist RN and MD/AP during procedures 18.
