Your role at BHSN: As a Peer Support Specialist at BHSN, you will promote skills for coping with and managing behavioral health symptoms while facilitating the utilization of natural resources and the enhancement of recovery-oriented principles (e.g. hope and self-efficacy, and community living skills). Peer support uses trauma-informed, non-clinical assistance to achieve long-term recovery from a behavioral health disorder. What's in it for you? Generous benefits, including personalized health coverage, paid time off, and holiday pay Working within our community, making a real impact, working alongside passionate colleagues Accessible leadership team, coaching for your growth, and ample training opportunities With BHSN University, we provide our team members with continuous learning, mentorship, and internal education opportunities to encourage our team to continue discovering and innovating As a rapidly growing organization, there are endless opportunities to grow within the organization Community discounts, loan forgiveness & more What your day might look like: • Conduct outreach visits and engagement of families involved in CFTSS (Children & Family Treatment and Support Services) and CHCBS (Children's Home and Community Based Services) • Assist families in the development of wraparound plans, resource acquisition and coordination of service plan implementation • Engage with service recipients in their homes and in the community • Encourage family participation in specific mental health programs/trainings and activities • Attend all relevant mental health training opportunities as approved • Coordinate and implement family support services as identified through the Home and Community Based Waiver Service plan process • Attend department meetings and trainings as required • Perform other duties as assigned within context of job description Your skills and qualifications: • Parent or foster parent with experience raising a child with a psychiatric, behavioral or emotional disorder required • Bachelor's degree or experience in human services field is preferred • Complete Parent Empowerment Program (PEP) training in order to count towards Family Peer Advocate Credential (FPA); FPA credential is required to be obtained within two years of hire date to continue employment • Excellent engagement, organizational and communication skills • Must be able to work a flexible schedule in order to meet the needs of the families served • Valid NYS driver's license and reliable transportation required for local travel • Ability to travel outside of Clinton County, NY for certain training function EEO Statement: BHSN is an Equal Opportunity Employer, and supports Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion in its hiring and employment practices so that every team member can feel like they belong and be their authentic self to thrive in their personal and professional lives.
