TITLE: Early Childhood Special Education Coordinator
Biddeford Schools
Biddeford is dedicated to providing high-quality, inclusive early childhood special education services. We are seeking a
dynamic and experienced Early Childhood Special Education Coordinator to lead and manage our transition of early
childhood FAPE services to the Biddeford school communities, ensuring that all young children with disabilities receive
the support they need to thrive.
Job Summary:
The Early Childhood Special Education Coordinator will be responsible for the overall administration, supervision, and
coordination of early childhood special education programs within the district. This role involves coordinating a mixed
delivery system that ensures compliance with state and federal regulations, providing leadership and support to staff, and
fostering positive relationships with families and community partners.
Responsibilities:
Partner with the Director of Special Services and Maine Department of Education to oversee Part B transition.
Facilitate and act as administrator at all PreK IEPs for 3, 4 and 5 year olds.
Case-manage all IEP-related paperwork for PreK 3,4 and 5 year old (AWNs, WNs, IEPs and referral related documents).
Conduct comprehensive assessments to assist in determining eligibility for early childhood special education.
Act as a liaison between Biddeford School Department and outside early childhood providers.
Work with Clinical Coordinator to implement MaineCare reimbursement procedures.
Coordinate early childhood special education referral, assessment, and programming in accordance with the district's special education policy and procedure manual, and at the direction of the Director of Special Services.
Assist the Director of Special Services with the supervision and evaluation of probationary and continuing contract early childhood special education personnel.
Monitor special education documentation, record-keeping, and communications to assure compliance with state regulations and district policies.
Prepare and deliver reports, plans and program descriptions as requested by school and district administrators.
Initiate, prepare and facilitate various forms of staff development activities to address personnel readiness and skill development.
Other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Services.
REQUIREMENTS:
Eligible for State of Maine Certification (035 - Assistant Administrator of Special Education)
State of Maine background check (CHRC) authorization
Minimum of Five Years of Experience Relevant to the Position
Master's Degree in Education or Other Relevant Field
Demonstrated leadership experience
Excellent organizational skills, as well as the ability to skillfully manage time
Skilled in the use of technology
Professional manner and collaboration
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, students, district staff, parents, and community members.

Qualifications:
1. Certified by Maine Department of Education OR Licensed by State Board of Examiners of Psychologists.
2. Must hold a Master's Degree in Psychology.
3. Valid DOE fingerprinting certification.
REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Administer and interpret tests of mental abilities, learning disabilities, aptitudes, psychological, interests, and personality characteristics for educational, vocational selection, guidance, or placement.
2. Interview and examine student developmental histories to assist in determining causes of behaviors or problems, maladjustments, conflicts, delayed development, learning disabilities, etc.
3. Process and communicate the findings, conclusions and recommendations to parents at IEP meetings.
4. Suggest changes or interventions in the behavior of students, teachers, parents, administrators, etc.
5. Provide consultation to staff on students to assist in ongoing program development.
6. Consultation with School Social Workers, School Psychological Service Providers for ongoing professional development and supervision.
7. Complete risk assessments and provide recommendations on students referred through the Risk Assessment process.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Year-round position.
Salary and work days are established by the School Committee and Executive Director.
