History:
Martin County Hospital District (MCHD) was organized in 1967 and has boundaries coterminous with Martin County, Texas. It is located in the heart of West Texas. Opened in 1949, the hospital was originally located near downtown Stanton. This facility served the community well for many years but was replaced with a state of the art 18 bed facility in 2012. The new facility is located on I20 and has been designated as a Critical Access Hospital.
Job Responsibilities
This professional staff person is responsible for gathering pertinent clinical information and performing treatments in the outpatient clinic/medical office setting. The Medical Assistant performs CLIA waived testing, administers medications and performs treatments as ordered by physicians and in keeping with the current clinical practice. In addition, the Medical Assistant performs a range of services in a cross-functional mode to comprehensively serve patient needs for continuity of care. Such duties may include but are not limited to making referrals to outside providers, gathering reports from other facilities, and coordination of other healthcare related services. Assumes, under the direction of the Clinic Medical Director/Laboratory Director responsibility for patient specimen collecting and testing, quality control, and equipment maintenance.
Requirements
Education
High School Diploma or Equivalent
Licenses/Certificates
Certification as a Medical Assistant. Successful completion of AHA approved courses in BLS upon hire
Experience
three (3) years experience as a medical assistant preferred
