Bike mechanic job description

This is a 2023 Summer position.

Repairs and maintains the Summit mountain bike and BMX inventory. Staff may be assigned to either one mountain bike or BMX area or move equally between all of them.

Responsibilities:
· Maintain a friendly and helpful attitude to insure that participants have a safe and enjoyable experience. Where possible solve their needs and concerns, where not possible, steer them to someone who can.

· Repair bikes so that they can be put back into use in the program

· Present a program that imparts useful bike care and maintenance knowledge that is safe, fun, interesting and challenging.

· Maintain a clean and efficient repair area

· Monitor inventory of spare parts and repair equipment and work with Lead Bike Mechanic to order materials needed to keep program running safely.

· Use any and all safety equipment mandated in your work area.

· Insure proper use, security and care of repair parts and repair equipment.

· Assist in the set up and takedown of the Summit Bechtel Reserve mountain bike shop and other facilities

· Turn accurate paperwork in to supervisor in a timely manner

· Adhere to the policies and procedures outlined in the Summit Bechtel Reserve Staff Handbook

· Participate in all camp-wide activities

· Any other duties as assigned by full-time staff and/or direct supervisor

Qualifications & Training:
· Be or become a registered member of the Boy Scouts of America

· 18 Years old or older

· Have experience maintaining mountain bikes and/or BMX bikes

· Have experience maintaining an organized shop

· Good organizational skills

Physical Requirements:
· Must meet the Summit Bechtel Reserve's high adventure height/weight requirements as laid out in the Summit BSA Health & Medical Record

· Must be able to lift and handle materials weighing up to 70lbs

· Must be able to demonstrate proficiency riding a mountain bike

We are looking for a qualified e-Bike Mechanic manager to oversee and address our customers' technical needs. You will provide accurate technical service before and after the point of sale, ensuring customer satisfaction. As a e-Bike manager, you should able to explain technical details and requirements to a non-technical audience. You should also be results-driven and aspire to achieve specific goals. Ultimately, you should be able to provide technical, product and business knowledge to support sales process and strengthen customer relationships.
Responsibilities

Focusing on the development of the team, provide regular coaching and training to bike mechanics

Oversee the workshop on a daily basis, ensure that procedures are followed, objectives are reached, and report the key performance metrics to the managers

Understand numbers, and lead the bike mechanic team's daily operations to achieve specific goals in productivity, quality, output, cost; as well as revenues where applicable

Understand and own every aspect of a service location

Drive continuous improvements to facilitate exceptional team output and quality of service

Support the store team to provide 5 stars service

Solve technical and organizational disruptions, help with analysis of larger malfunctions, and determine priorities for repairs

Provide regular coaching and feedback, and have an extensive knowledge of your team's strengths

Hire and organize your team to adapt the workforce to the customer demands

Be able to perform root cause analysis and thereby improve the process

Be responsible for the performance targets

Requirements

Proven experience as a Bicycle Mechanic

Team management experience

Experience in monitoring and steering teams towards KPIs

Comfortable to use Google suites (Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Forms) and easily adapt to new software's

Experience with assembly and maintenance of electric bicycles is a must

Excellent knowledge of e-bicycles and their components

A strong commitment to all health and safety guidelines

Very good communication skills and great attention to details

A problem-solving ability

Ability to lift heavy objects

High school diploma

Bicycle Mechanic certification would be a plus

Our Bike and Ski shop is currently looking for Year-Round/Fulltime Bike Mechanics to become part of their team.

Position Purpose: Assemble and prepare bikes for sale. Mount and wax skis. Perform a variety of service functions on new and used bikes and skis. Through direct contact with customers provide exceptional service and share product and technical expertise to enhance the customer experience.
Responsibilities:

+ Apply shop standards in the assembly and repair of bikes and skis across the full product line.

+ Evaluate mechanical condition of product and estimate cost of repairs.

+ Meet or exceed shop production standards.

+ Complete paperwork accurately and fully (record parts used, work performed, detail of torque, tolerance and standard procedures; complete pricing of job ticket) and process to next status or location.

+ Record and report any deficiencies not addressed by the repair work being done to the customer and or the appropriate leader.

+ Assist customer in the sale or repair process by sharing product and technical knowledge as appropriate.

+ Seek assistance from the Lead Service Writer bike/ski shop mechanic when problems outside the scope of your expertise arise.

+ Relay obstacles to timely and satisfactory completion of repair or service to the Lead Service Writer bike/ski shop.

+ Operate cash register as necessary.

+ Report or record replacement parts inventory and supply shortages to the Service Writer bike/ski shop. Maintain shop cleanliness including bench and common workspace.

+ Know and follow all safety rules and procedures. Report any unsafe act or workplace condition to leadership or security as appropriate.
