The Technical Assistant is responsible for providing administrative and secretarial support for the Director, Managers, Clinical Coordinators and staff of one or more departments. including record and manual maintenance, establishing essential presentations and databases, extensive travel arrangements and first line interactions regarding internal/external customer concerns.
Essential Job Functions
* Maintains department(s) databases, primary records, manuals, and reference materials. Duties include system maintenance and data integrity for multiple system applications which may reside on more than one information system. Designs and produces correspondence, memorandums, documents, forms, newsletters, reports, metrics, and data graphs for projects and programs based on needs identified by the staff and leadership for the department(s) and/or organization.
* Provides administrative and secretarial support to Directors, Managers, Clinical Coordinators and their staff for one or more departments including receiving and assisting visitors/callers, file and record management, telephones, meeting preparation and minutes, etc. Coordinates functions for identified department staff including physicians if applicable. Duties may include but are not limited to:
* Coordinating and maintaining appointment calendars.
* Arranging meetings and preparing agendas, meeting notices and presentation materials.
* Attend and transcribe meeting minutes.
* May monitor allocation of expenses to appropriate cost centers.
* Obtaining special services as needed.
* Appropriate supply maintenance.
* Site, material, and equipment preparation for events, meetings, educational offerings and presentations.
* May assist in collating and scheduling department evaluations for Director and Managers.
* Responsible for arrangement, typing, distribution and maintenance/revision of Billings Clinic policies and procedures. Coordinates with management staff to revise policies and procedures (department-specific and hospital-wide).
* Coordinate with and assist Directors, Managers, Clinical Coordinators and their staff with travel arrangements including but not limited to:
* Research costs and assist with initial paperwork for request for travel.
* Complete Billings Clinic Business Travel/Education Expense form, including estimated expenses.
* Work with outside vendors to arrange approved travel expenses (i.e. hotel, airline reservations, registration).
* Obtain necessary signatures for approval; submit expense forms to accounting to request pre-payment of approved hotel, airline, and registration expenses.
* Complete "Actual Expenses" portion of the Billings Clinic Business Travel/Education Expense form. Submit airline ticket stubs, detail of hotel charges, and receipts for reimbursable expenses to Accounting and other entities if applicable.
* Performs other duties as assigned or as needed to meet the needs of the department/organization including but not limited to:
* Communicates appropriately with internal/external customers to identify concerns and issues, identifies routing to appropriate resources, and follows up to ensure all matters requiring attention are addressed promptly and efficiently.
* May assist with work across departmental lines as needed to meet organizational needs.
* Acts as a resource to Billings Clinic Leadership and Supervisory staff.
* Identifies needs and sets goals for own growth and development; meets all mandatory system/departmental requirements.
* Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental and outside agency requirements relevant to job performance.
* May represent department in delegated committees and meetings.

In our CRNA role, you will be a critical team member to administer general, regional and monitored anesthesia care for scheduled and emergency surgical, obstetrical, and trauma procedures and perform anesthesia-related procedures at the discretion of and under the supervision of an attending anesthesiologist. The CRNA will evaluate patients preoperatively and, in consultation with the attending anesthesiologist, formulate and carry out an anesthesia care plan including monitoring and recording patient reaction to anesthesia and modifying the anesthetic plan accordingly. Safely transport patients and provide report to and from an anesthetizing location, ensuring appropriate care during the postoperative period. Finally, be an effective team member and interact with staff and patients in a way that shows respect and consideration for the individual and those around you.
Essential Job Functions
* At all times works under the medical direction of an Anesthesiologist.
* Provides quality patient care considering age specific, developmental and cultural needs through competent anesthesia practice.
* Manages patients airway or pulmonary status using techniques such as endotracheal intubation and extubation, mechanical ventilation, pharmacological support, and respiratory therapy.
* Selects, prepares, or uses equipment, monitors, supplies, or drugs for the administration of anesthetics.
* Selects, orders, and administers anesthetics, adjuvant drugs, accessory drugs, fluids or blood products.
* Performs pre-anesthetic screenings including physical evaluations and patient interviews, and documents results. Monitors patients responses including skin color, pupil dilation, pulse, heart rate, blood pressure, respiration, ventilation, or urine output using invasive and noninvasive techniques.
* Responds to emergency situations by providing airway management, administering emergency fluids or drugs, or using basic or advanced cardiac life support techniques.
* Develops anesthesia care plans.
* Obtains informed consent from patients for anesthesia procedures.
* Assesses patients medical histories to predict anesthesia response.
* Performs and evaluates the results of diagnostic tests such as radiographs (x-rays) and electrocardiograms (EKGs).
* Performs or manages regional anesthetic techniques such as local, spinal, epidural, caudal, nerve blocks and intravenous blocks.
* Evaluates patients post-surgical or post-anesthesia responses, taking appropriate corrective actions or requesting consultation if complications occur. Administers post-anesthesia medications or fluids to support patients cardiovascular systems.
* Discharges patients from post-anesthesia care.
* Reads literature, talks with colleagues, and participates in professional organizations or conferences to keep abreast of developments in nursing.
* Performs any other related duties as requested or required.

The Administrative Director, Cancer Center, in partnership with the Cancer Center Medical Director, is charged with leading the multidisciplinary cancer team to realize the Cancer Center vision and strategic plan, and to assure operational excellence, fiscal viability and customer satisfaction.
Essential Job Functions
* Develops and oversees business unit to ensure adherence to organizational mission, vision, values, strategic goals, and business objectives. Interprets and supports the mission and philosophy of Billings Clinic. Responsible for the promotion of, and adherence to, the elements of Billings Clinic's Code of Business Conduct and corporate compliance program as it relates to the business unit.
* In collaboration with Senior Leadership, physician leadership, other medical staff, and other health care providers, leads, develops, and revises programs which enhance the business unit. * Leads business unit in the overall marketing, program development, and service priorities that support a quality-focused environment and the financial objectives of the organization/business unit/department. Coordinates with Senior Leadership and physicians to assure continuity in pursuing business unit/system goals and synergy in implementing plans and problem resolution.
* Drives regional growth strategies to expand oncology services and strengthen Billings Clinic's role as the premier cancer care provider across the multi-state region.
* Oversees Managers, Supervisors/Coordinators, and other direct reports with preparation of business unit budget, staffing, objectives, standards, and staff education programs.
* Practices process improvement principles to assess and improve the quality of the service/care provided within business unit. The Claim Specialist's main focus is to obtain maximum and appropriate reimbursement for all claims from government and third-party payers. The Claims Specialist is responsible for preparing and submitting timely and accurate insurance claims to government and third-party payers, assisting in the implementation of payer regulations and ensuring compliance to the regulatory requirements, and verifying payments and adjustments are appropriately applied to accounts based on government, contract or other regulations or agreements. The Claims Specialist is responsible for appropriate follow up on all accounts pending payment from government and third-party payers.
Essential Job Functions
* Supports and models behaviors consistent with the mission and philosophy of Billings Clinic and department/service.
* Responsible for submission of timely and accurate claims to primary, secondary, and tertiary insurances for both electronic and paper submission. Generates telephone calls to insurance carriers to follow up on insurance using reports generated for this purpose to ensure the timely collection of money due on the account.
* Audits accounts by verifying that reimbursement amounts are appropriate, coordination of refunds, if appropriate, and coordinating adjustments when necessary, claims appeals or resubmissions, moving balances from insurance responsibility to patient responsibility when appropriate, and reviews and resolves credit balances.
* Ensure that claims have appropriate information on them for submission to insurance companies or agencies by reviewing errors and other prebilling insurance reports/worklists. Analyzes and review claims to ensure that payer specific regulations and requirements are met.
* Prepares and presents verbally and in writing challenges to third party payers for additional reimbursement for denied charges and/or reductions in reimbursement as appropriate.
* Provides guidance and or assistance to the cashiers.
* Provides timely follow-up on correspondence received from the insurance carrier or patient.
* Responds to inquiries from customers/other departments/insurance carriers regarding insurance coverage issues, coordination of benefits, reconciliation of account balances and complaints regarding services received. Initiates appropriate follow-up on outstanding issues.
* Sets up registration and insurance information when necessary.
* Utilizes performance improvement principles to assess and improve quality.
* Identifies needs and sets goals for own growth and development; meets all mandatory organizational and departmental requirements.

Supply Chain Operations Technicians are responsible for representing all departments of Billings Clinic in a dynamic fast paced environment where change is the norm, not the exception. They take pride and ownership in providing exceptional customer service. Primary duties include, but are not limited to; shipping and receiving, handling inventory, filling stock orders and delivering stock and non-stock supplies (including but not limited to medications, needles, sharps, blades, solutions, etc) data entry, computer and telephone usage, quality control inspections, delivery of mail, lab specimens and medical records as needed for patient care, and training and orientation of newly assigned staff members. This position will rotate through the entire job functions listed below and will perform clerical and administrative tasks to as needed for support of the department and the organization.
Essential Job Functions
* GENERAL
Supports and models behaviors consistent with the mission and philosophy of Billings Clinic and department/service.
* SUPPLY PARS
Counts and refills supplies (including but not limited to medications, needles, sharps, blades, solutions, etc) from predetermined par levels. Refills supplies from a systems generated request to the predetermined par level.
* COMPUTER USEAGE
Utilizes computer information systems for look-ups of on-hand quantities, unit of issue, catalog numbers, entering counts for par refills to produce pick lists and for location of supplies within the warehouse. Utilizes web based software and Microsoft office software.
* SHIPPING
Receives items to be shipped out making sure the proper paperwork is with the product and that the item has been properly packaged to ensure no damage in shipping. Must maintain knowledge of packing and shipping requirements for hazardous materials.
Utilizes FedEx and UPS computers for proper shipping labels and addressing.
Coordinates palletized shipments that must be shipped by truck to ensure the best trucking rates.
* RECEIVING
Receives and unpacks shipments and checks packing list against the shipment and purchase order. Assures that quantities received match quantities recorded on the purchase order. Signs off on all incoming shipments. Responsible for receiving, packing and inspection of supplies and verification of information on the invoices and shipping notices are accurate for all products received in the warehouse including product, quantity, unit conversion and catalog number. Enters purchase orders received and quantities received in order to ensure accuracy of on hands inventory. Reports all discrepancies to the Lead or Coordinator and the purchasing agent responsible for the purchase order.
Inspects all products to ensure against damage and shortages/overages. Works closely with purchasing regarding discrepancy reports, quantity ordered against quantity received, wrong catalogue numbers, conditions of shipments received, and damage reports.
Works closely with Purchasing and Accounting Departments regarding questions about product arrival, quantities and purchase order clarifications.
* FREIGHT STOCKING
Verifies receipt notification to product, quantity, unit conversion and catalog number. Stocks and stores supplies from predetermined par levels in appropriate designated areas within the warehouse. Marks products with labels reflecting appropriate charge codes. Maintains stock area in a neat and orderly manner. Rearranges and rotates stock for orderly and timely usage of dated materials. Reports discrepancies to the Lead/Coordinator.
* REQUISTIONS
Reviews information on supply requisitions verifying required information is listed including description, quantity, department name and cost center and who is ordering. Picks and assembles orders, verifying and accounting for products and transactions. Processes credits for returned merchandise at the time it is received to ensure the on-hands quantities in the warehouse are correct for reorders. Reports any discrepancies or problems to Lead Supply Chain Operations Technician or Supply Chain Operations Coordinator.
Assembles and distributes routine receiving documents. Maintains daily pick-up/delivery records and weekly operational reports. Inputs entries into the Supply Chain Operations information system.
Delivers supplies and equipment to all departments according to procedures and obtains signatures for proof of delivery. Delivers and retrieves rental equipment from outside agencies.
* DISPATCHER
Coordinates customer service relation issues between Distribution and Billings Clinic departments. Receives and dispatches routine and STAT calls for supplies, equipment, courier services. Responsible to investigate problem scenarios and make recommendations for corrective action.
Coordinates daily work assignments of Supply Chain Operations Technicians to ensure appropriate coverage for all work areas/functions. Reports staff absences and/or shortages to Lead Supply Chain Operations Technician and/or Supply Chain Operations Coordinator.
Reviews and verifies completeness of information on supply requisitions before entering into the computer system for pick lists (i.e., department name, department account number, product description, quantity ordered, unit of issue, authorized signatures, etc.).
Enters data from completed pick lists and requisitions to account for relief inventory of distributed products.
Enters data from returned merchandise/products to ensure correct accounting of on hands inventory.
* SURGERY
Works closely with the OR Supply Chain Specialist to ensure product availability for scheduled surgeries.
Maintain product knowledge of surgery non-stock and stock reporting items in order to coordinate purchases with OR, purchasing, Lead Supply Chain Operations Tech and/or Coordinator as appropriate.
* INVENTORY
Periodically performs quality control checks to verify the accuracy of the Supply Chain Operations information management system as compared to actual product on hand. Makes recommendations for changes in par levels for supplies and linen to the Lead Technician or Coordinator.
Determines needs for supply replacement from predetermined established inventory levels. Notifies Lead Supply Chain Operations Technician of critical stock balances.
Utilizes computer information systems for look-ups of on-hand quantities, unit of issue, catalog numbers, entering requisitions and purchase orders, entering counts for par refills to produce pick lists and for location of supplies within the warehouse.
* EQUIPMENT
Receives, distributes and stores reusable equipment managed by Supply Chain Operations Department (i.e., IV pumps, PCA pumps, Plum pumps, Excels, rental beds, etc.). Monitors equipment inventories and ensures adequate supplies to meet business needs.
Cleans, disinfects and prepares equipment for use following standardized procedures utilizing proper disinfectants and in accordance with infection control guidelines.
Examines equipment for defects and reports observed defects to Bio-Medical Department.
Makes rounds to all patient rooms and equipment locations to scan the equipment for accurate record of all equipment locations. Utilizes scanners at patient bed side to record patient name and room number and equipment ordered to ensure correct patient charges are submitted. Transports equipment to and from the various inpatient hospital units as needed.
Performs data entry of charges for rental equipment and pumps into the patient billing system.
* CLEANING
Cleans shelves in the warehouse using proper infection control procedures on a monthly basis.
Keeps work area free of obstacles and clean of paper and boxes by crushing and/or baling boxes.
Sweeps the floors daily or as needed.
* UPDATING
Inspects assigned sections and/or aisles within the warehouse for products that are outdated or are nearing their expiration dates ensuring that no outdated product is issued.
* ORIENTATION/TRAINING
Performs all of the duties of a Supply Chain Operations Technician as needed to maintain production levels and meet customer/business needs.
Participates in the orientation and training of staff. Coordinates closely with the Lead Supply Chain Operations Technician and/or Coordinator regarding any orientation/training issues. Acts as a resource to other Supply Chain Operations Technician staff assisting with questions and problem resolution.
Utilizes performance improvement principles to assess and improve quality. Assists the Lead Supply Chain Operations Technician in maintaining all quality control standards in the distribution section. Performs studies and/or inspections and prepares reports as requested.
* GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

* Lead Supply Chain Operations Technician
Provides continuity of operations in the absence of the Supply Chain Operations Coordinator/Manager. Responsible for providing direction while overseeing activities associated with the day-to-day operations of supply chain operations functions. Prepares work schedules and gives daily assignments to ensure all required tasks are completed. Acts as a liaison with other departmental staff concerning supply issues. Provides advice concerning logistical support and product flow. Participates in Billings Clinic committees as appropriate (i.e., Product Standards Committee).
Acts as a resource to staff responding to procedural questions and assistance with problem resolution. Performs training and orientation for new and existing Supply Chain Operations Technicians I & II. Evaluates employee knowledge and ability to perform work in relationship to training needs.
Provides documented input and feedback for disciplinary and performance appraisal processes.
Responsible to ensure the highest possible level of customer service, staff adherence to established policies and procedures and maximizes productivity levels. Maintains par count sheets, courier routes and outlines of daily job responsibilities. Performs quality control audits checking on order fills, order deliveries, courier runs and routes and linen deliveries. Conducts studies and/or inspections to facilitate statistical analysis of employee performance, with all numbers and outcomes reported to the Supply Chain Operations Coordinator/Manager. Maintains computer application or system files that impact the warehouse issued patient chargeable goods and/or patient charge capture. Responsible for maintaining master files, troubleshooting problem scenarios. Coordinates with Information Services in the design, update, scheduling of upgrades and problem resolution of information systems utilized by Supply Chain Operations.
Conducts perpetual inventory counts performing cycle counts, audits on daily issues, researching and monitoring inventory reporting and discrepancies, coordinating with Purchasing to correct on-hand stock as needed. Conducts complete cycle count inventory on all stock twice per year as directed by the Supply Chain Operations Coordinator/Manager. Determines quantities for floor par and warehouse stocks. Recommends standardization of warehouse stock items and other cost containment issues.
Reviews invoices and billing for laundry services, ensuring accuracy. Prepares departmental linen service billings. Monitors distribution activities and utilizes performance improvement principles to assess and improve quality.

This position is responsible for coordinating the care and services specific to the surgical specialty patient populations needing across the continuum of care for both inpatient and outpatient services; scheduling and coordination of cases and assuming a key role with the multi-disciplinary team to achieve optimal clinical, financial and resource outcomes. Skilled in the surgical specialty specific patient/family education. Acts as liaison for referring providers and patients. Follows department specific protocols.
* Facilitates and ensures that comprehensive, multi-disciplinary collaboration of care occurs with the patient, family, physicians and other health care providers. Coordinates the plan with the patient, family, multi-disciplinary team, external health care providers, and insurers.
* Coordinates pre- and post-procedural communications with the patient and family and provides education regarding pre- and post-operative patient care instructions. Obtains needed outside records.
* Assesses, coordinates, and facilitates patient's progression throughout the continuum of care. Works with the physician and multi-disciplinary team to establish agreed upon care plans for discharge or transfer to the appropriate care setting. This includes monitoring the patient's acuity according to severity of illness and intensity of service.
* Educates patients and family members regarding procedures throughout the continuum of care.
* Coordinates the development, implementation and evaluation of patient focused outcomes through clinical pathways and/or plans of care. Performs ongoing evaluation of the Clinical Pathway and/or Plan or Care; analyzes variances and implements strategies to resolve them. Utilizes performance improvement principles to assess and improve quality.
* Performs specific nursing functions required to carry out the above job functions, such as communicating verbal or approved protocol orders, writing progress notes, making rounds to visit patients, patient teaching and triaging calls from patients and family members. May assist with diagnostic procedures, and in monitoring patients during clinic procedures.
* Assists in successful implementation of programs to improve coding and reimbursement for specialty specific services. Will assist in identifying referring physicians and assuring to the extent possible, that strong relationships are developed and preserved. Communicates with payors to facilitate the process of obtaining reimbursement authorizations for procedures, inpatient and outpatient. Follows established procedures in regard to denial of benefits.
* Assists the physicians in addressing hospital related issues, serves as a liaison and representative for the surgical specialty in resolving problems, and participates on committees as appropriate.
* Collaborates with other health care providers in developing, implementing and evaluating educational materials for patients and their families.
* Facilitates referral provider communication system through the relaying of pertinent information regarding patients to their referring provider during hospitalization in concurrence with the attending surgeon.
* Performs other duties as assigned or needed to meet the needs of the department/organization. Assist clinic operations through diagnostic testing.
* Responsible for obtaining and reporting quality data specific to the specialty.
* Facilitates and coordinates the lung cancer screening program to ensure appropriate guidelines.

Patient Safety Specialist is a position within the Patient Safety Department and Transformation Division of Billings Clinic. Patient Safety Specialist serves as a subject matter expert regarding patient safety systems and provides patient safety consultative services focused on providing the highest quality and safest care to patients while decreasing risk to organization. The Patient Safety Specialist assists the organization in patient safety system activities aimed at adverse event detection, prevention, and response. The position reports to the Director of Patient Safety and Infection Control and assumes responsibility for one or more of the following functions. Day-to-day review of all clinical occurrence reports and collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, including medication safety. Assigns responsibility for investigation and reporting of patient safety risks and incidents for all areas of Billings Clinic. Scope of work includes acute care hospital, ambulatory clinics, branch clinic locations, ambulatory surgery center, and fully owned regional facilities. Preparation of case summaries for and facilitation of the Patient Safety Incident Review Group (PSIRG) and Safety Event Classification (SEC) Work Group.%%Investigation of all clinical harm incidents and near misses to include creation of a sequence of events and decisions, interviews with clinical staff who had direct or indirect involvement in the incident, and preparation of a detailed event summary from the perspectives of those involved. Facilitation of Root Cause Analyses (RCA) teams (e.g., including related documentation and executive summary within Cause Analysis software), and assurance that standard work process is completed. This includes assuring Cause Analysis is thorough, credible, and developed action plans follow evidence-based hierarchy of actions and include measures of success. Assists operational leaders (i.e., service line director) in understanding and completing Apparent Cause Analysis (ACA) following standard work process. Assists operational leaders in developing an implementation timeframe. Provides periodic auditing of the implementation phase of the system improvement plan.

* Standardizes processes to optimize learning from occurrence reporting. Performs analysis and analytics to support trend identification.
* Assists in the development and delivery of annual training and provides education in patient safety standards, principles, and use occurrence reporting system.
* Serves as a neutral facilitator for patient safety culture surveys and assists teams and leaders with development of improvement plans for identified opportunities.
* Participates in the planning, nomination, and selection of the annual Great Catch Award program. Publicly recognizes individuals and teams for near miss events and use of HRO Universal Skills.
* HIGH RELIABILITY ORGANIZING

* MANAGEMENT OF CRITICAL DATA, INFORMATION, and REPORTS
* Maintains accurate record of events and confidential information contained in reports within patient safety software systems.
* Assures accuracy of serious safety event and cause analyses data entry into program software.
* Reports trends observed in occurrence reports to PSIRG for awareness and action.
* Prepares Patient Safety in Action Alerts using Swiss cheese model and patient stories to engage clinicians and organization for awareness and process improvement.
* Prepares case summaries to Patient Safety Organization (PSO) to advance organizational learning. Attends PSO Safety Event Case Advisory Panel (SECAP) meetings and maintains PSO learning library. Assures upload of case data into secure system is accurate and entered per Patient Safety Evaluation System agreement and administrative policy O-155.
* Assists Director in preparing annual Patient Safety System report.
* Provides custom and routine reports from occurrence reporting system upon request. Coaches operational and executive leaders in appropriate use of voluntary occurrence reporting data.
* RISK MANAGEMENT
* Cooperates and collaborates regularly with Risk Management for both risk prevention measures and clinical event investigation for the hospital, ambulatory clinics, Surgery Center, and fully owned facilities.
* Provides support to Risk Management for resolution of serious customer complaints and issues related to the quality of patient care and/or services and imminent safety/risk situations including mandatory reporting to FDA for serious patient/employee injury or death resulting from a medical device. Adherence to state and federal disclosure of health information obligation and restrictions is critical. Maintains all peer investigation case files and ensures maximum protection from discoverability.
* Reviews, classifies, codes, and investigates occurrence reports. Presents synopsis of selected cases to PSIRG and Safety Event Classification (SEC) Work Group. Recommends plan for taking corrective action.

Minimum Qualifications
Education

This position is responsible for ensuring that all surgical supplies, instruments, and equipment are properly maintained, decontaminated, assembled, inspected, packaged, sterilized, stored, distributed, and tracked in a quality/timely manner throughout the hospital. Serves as a resource for sterile processing customers, both on Main Campus and in the Region.
Essential Job Functions
* Decontamination: rendering contaminated instruments and medical services safe for handling. Demonstrates consistent utilization of PPE and standard precautions. Demonstrates appropriate handling of instruments and appropriate use of equipment. Disposes of trash and used linens in an appropriate manner.
* Instrument assembly: assembling instrument sets for surgery and specialty trays for use where required. Adheres to appropriate count sheets, instruments checked for function and cleanliness, and count sheets are adjusted as necessary and are signed and dated appropriately. Containers are prepared, labeled and locked. Sets are recorded. Adheres to quality control standards of three (3) errors or less per month.
* Packaging: Responsible for proper wrapping or peel packaging of items for sterilization, utilization of tip protectors as needed, and use of appropriate chemical integrator and tape. Labeling is accurate and legible. Adheres to quality control standards of three (3) or less per month.
* Sterilization: container prep, wrapping, logging, equipment operation, monitoring by charts, grafts, biological and chemical monitor interpretation and required recording. Sterilizer carts are loaded per established standards; inventory is documented, biological monitor use as required. Accurate sterilizer monitoring for parameters. Loads information on stamps and demonstrates appropriate handling of sterile items.
* Picking Cases: Utilizes the computer for printing surgery schedules and pick sheets. Demonstrates ability to use appropriate size case carts and to follow supply list accurately. Adheres to quality control standards of two (2) or less errors per month.
* Variety of essential tasks: computer use for all surgery cases, preparing surgery case carts from print lists, transporting carts to surgery, retrieval of specialty trays and medical devices from user areas, responding to frequent phone requests, etc.
* Identifies needs and sets goals for own growth and development; meets all mandatory system/departmental requirements.
* Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental and outside agency environmental, employee or patient safety standards relevant to job performance.
* Participates in process improvement activities and utilize performance improvement principles to assess and improve quality and safety.
* Notifies Clinical Coordinators of new or unfamiliar equipment to determine proper cleaning and sterilization procedures.

Serves as the primary clinical technology resource for clinical, and/or third-party information systems. * Serves as the primary clinical technology resource for the assessment and mapping of current and future state workflows with gap identification/analysis, design, implementation, on-going development and maintenance of clinical information systems and processes. Coordinates closely with Billings Clinic Leadership, staff members, Information Technology staff, key stakeholders including affiliates, managed and non-managed sites, and software vendors for the planning, analysis, design, implementation, evaluation and support of clinical applications, technology and infrastructure.

* Acts as the centralized review point for receipt of all requests for release of information from both the hospital and clinic medical records. Evaluates authorizations to ensure they meet all eight (8) criteria required by HIPAA and the state of Montana. Evaluates requests that do not require an authorization to ensure Billings Clinic can disclose the information without an authorization through review of HIPAA, Montana law, and Billings Clinic policies.
* Accepts and signs for subpoenas and/or court orders; performs initial review to determine if all criteria (HIPAA and Montana law) are met and confers with Manager, Director or General Counsel for final approval to process.
* Responds to questions of patients and/or staff regarding appropriate disclosures, researches legal and regulatory guidelines in questionable situations, facilitates request and receipt of protected health information (PHI) from other facilities for Billings Clinic.
* Identifies presence and/or location of medical records by reviewing CIS, Medic, AS400 or documentation of other medical record locations (includes branch clinics, inactive records in storage, shadow chart locations, PHI that Billings Clinic maintains previously belonging to other practitioners, and microfilm). Coordinates with and/or forwards request for release of information to the appropriate areas for copying of the appropriate records to provide integrated response to request. Ensures that complete medical record is obtained and copied when such is requested or in response to subpoena or court order.
* Log requests in ROI (Release of Information) software identifying requestor, patient, information requested, date needed, ensuring compliance with regulatory and legal requirements.
* Reviews all copies of health care information prior to disclosure of records to the requestor to ensure:
only the requested materials have been released
authorization matches healthcare information copied
records have been obtained from Radiology, Patient Accounts, and any other site housing PHI that has been authorized to be disclosed
information is delivered to the appropriate individual or requestor based upon the authorization, subpoena or court order
* Acts as a resource and provides support to HIM Specialists and release of information staff by handling customer complaints, resolving issues, identifying request priorities and assigning requests to be processed. Responsible to train HIM Specialists to read authorizations and obtain appropriate information from the medical record.
* Receives copies from various areas and compares each page to the original medical record to ensure complete information requested is provided prior to certifying affidavit or records are delivered for subpoenas or court orders.
* Invoices each request to ensure appropriate charges are made for copies; processes checks received in department by crediting invoice in software; and documenting monies received and forwarding to HIM Administrative Assistant.
* Maintains or exceeds 95% accuracy based on audit findings. Maintains or exceeds 90% department productivity standards for assigned tasks
* Identifies needs and sets goals for own growth and development; meets all mandatory organizational and departmental requirements.

The incumbent in this position is responsible for performing diagnostic imaging services in the specialty of Nuclear Medicine, Nuclear Cardiology and PET/CT as an advanced application. The technologist is responsible for the operation of a variety of equipment to produce images of the patient's body for diagnostic purposes and therapeutic procedures involving radiopharmaceuticals. The Nuclear Medicine technologist is responsible for providing exposure in the field of Nuclear Medicine to the Radiologic Technologist program students. Interviews patients, explains procedures, performs venipuncture and positions the patient for procedures. Reviews test results with radiologists/referring physicians.
This position may be eligible for a $10,000.00 sign on incentive, relocation, and tuition loan reimbursement.
Essential Job Functions

* Follows NRC (Nuclear Regulatory Commission) guidelines to limit patient and staff exposures.
* Monitors equipment performance and if needed notifies service personnel.
* Prepares radiopharmaceutical and checks their purity.
* Performs clinical assessment and nuclear medicine exams as ordered by the physician. Assumes responsibility for the safety, mental and physical comfort of all patients in the nuclear medicine area. Interviews patient, explains examination and administers pre-medication or radiopharmaceuticals as appropriate.
* Uses cognitive nuclear medicine skills to identify, record and adapt procedures as appropriate to the anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images. Selects proper technical factors to perform scan. Coordinates with other staff to ensure appropriate patient care is provided.
* Analyzes nuclear medicine, nuclear cardiology and PET/CT information, medical history, and utilized independent judgment during the exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings.
* Utilized computer to process acquired data, access clinical and/or financial information.
* Follows the Quality Management Program for administration of therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals.
* Maintains patient examination records in accordance with Billings Clinic policies, procedures and standards.
* Coordinates scheduling, transportation and scanning of patient.
* Follows Nuclear Regulatory Commission guidelines for proper storage and disposal of hazardous waste.
* Maintains competency in all organizational, departmental and outside agency environmental, employee or patient safety standards relevant to job performance. The incumbent in this position is responsible for collecting and preparing specimens for laboratory analysis. Accurately obtains blood samples via venipuncture and capillary collection procedures with minimum patient discomfort. Ensures age-appropriate care is provided to patients from infant to geriatric. Ensures specimen integrity by following the laboratory's procedures for specimen collection, handling, and processing. Promotes quality patient/client relations and creates supportive climate. Respects and maintains the confidentiality of information relative to the laboratory. Adheres to all laboratory policies and regulations.

Essential Job Functions
* Collects and prepares patient specimens to include blood, urine, sputum, and cultures. Coordinate specimen collection with physicians and/or nursing staff when draws must be taken from patients with central lines, groshong catheters and IV assisted draws.
* Adhere to established guidelines and procedures for accurate patient and specimen identification, identifying non-compliance situations and take the necessary steps to bring situation into compliance.
* Utilize computerized systems to enter laboratory orders, patient charges, generate reports, answer inquiries and resolve problems.
* Coordinate with physicians, nursing staff and other health care providers for clarification of orders, laboratory tests available, test result turnaround times, and for coordination of laboratory special procedures involving other health care providers.
* Refers questions regarding types of tests being performed and other aspects of care to the appropriate health care provider. Provides instructions to patients regarding specimen collection to be completed in the home environment. Coordinate with patients and physicians regarding collection errors and initiate appropriate follow-up measures to correct errors.
* Provide back up to laboratory positions on days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays and as needed. Duties include answering phones, requisition entry, routing patient orders, e.g., add-on orders, and preparation of specimens for testing.
* Maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and a neat, orderly and clean work area.
* Identifies needs and sets goals for own growth and development; meets all mandatory organizational and departmental requirements.

* Maintains ongoing knowledge on current trends and techniques in the field of sleep disorders.
* Performs a variety of standard protocols for sleep disorders testing. Includes setting up and monitoring the patient over a six- to- eight-hour period.
* Performs all forms of sleep studies except MSLT studies.
* Inputs test data, generates and distributes reports to referring physicians and facilities. Completes reports necessary for certifications of medical necessity and insurance reimbursement.

The Pathologist Assistant will provide anatomic pathology services under the clinical direction and supervision of a pathologist. Responsibilities will primarily include gross examination of surgical pathology specimens and special procedures including tumor triage. * Ensures specimens are accessioned appropriately and that patient identification is maintained throughout the process.
* Obtains appropriate clinical history, including scans, x-rays, laboratory and data and able to coordinate with pathological findings.
* Accurately describes and dictates the overall specimen dimensions, structures, size, appearance and relationship of disease present to pertinent anatomic structures and margins using appropriate terminology
* Exercises judgement by preserving samples for testing analysis (flow cytometry, image analysis, immunohistochemistry, etc.)
* Ensures proper triaging and prioritizing of all pathology specimens
* Photographing all pertinent gross specimens and microscopic slides
* Performing duties relating to maintenance of surgical pathology protocols, reports and data, including the filing of reports, protocols, photographic and microscopic slides, assuring the completion of specimen coding and billing
* Assuring proper maintenance of equipment, provision of adequate supplies, and cleanliness of the surgical pathology suite
* Selecting, preparing and submitting appropriate gross tissue sections for frozen section analysis as well as light and immunofluorescent microscopy (Patient Care - Pathology - Gross Tissue Selection)
* Completes frozen section processes following policies and procedures, and turnaround time as defined by College of American Pathologists
* Participates in intraoperative consultations
* Performing duties related to the maintenance of anatomic pathology protocols, photographic and microscopic slides, and assuring the completion of coding. (Patient Care - Pathology - Pathology Procedures)
* Assisting in the organization and coordination of anatomic pathology conferences. (Patient Care - Pathology - Pathology Conferences)
* Orients and trains other laboratory technicians in the preparation and analysis of specimens and may direct their work as it relates to these activities. (Education - Staff - Orientation & Training)
* May participate in general administration activities within the laboratory to include development of protocols, policies/procedures and providing input into the annual budgeting process. (Leadership - Dept. Planning - Assists with Dept. Planning)
