LOCATION: Hanover, NH

Sheridan NH has operated in Hanover, New Hampshire, for more than 200 years. It is a full web printer exclusively dedicated to printing short run publications, journals and catalogs on full-size web presses.


Job Summary:
  • Supports operators with efficient machine operation by managing the flow of materials onto and off binding lines.
  • Supporting the mailing process and assist in all hand-related operations.
  • Operate hand and electric "walk-behind" lift trucks.
  • Completes all applicable paperwork to include skid tags and load tags.

Basic Qualifications:
  • A minimum of a High School diploma or GED/HiSET required.
  • Basic verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to perform work productively and safely.
  • Reliable; good attendance is required.
  • Required to work mandatory overtime as needed.
  • Must possess ability to work at a rapid pace.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to a maximum of 50 lbs. frequently.
  • Continuous standing, frequent walking & stooping, occasional sitting, crouching, and reaching/working overhead required.
  • Good visual acuity and manual dexterity required.
  • Work environment involves exposure to excessive noise, being near moving machinery, and exposure to potential arm and wrist fatigue.
  • Must wear hearing protection and safety shoes.

Schedule is Monday to Friday, 11 PM to 7 AM - 40 hours/week
  • Overtime pays time and a half after 40 hours per week

GENERAL PURPOSE: Assist bindery operator on various finishing
equipment and perform hand-bindery work.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Drills holes in paper sheets, manually or by machine.

Removes, stacks, and packs printed material in various stages of completion on pallets as it accumulates on finishing equipment.

Examines stitched, collated, bound, and unbound publications to assure jobs are completed in accordance with customer quality requirements.

Hand collates sets of printed materials, inserts sheets, applies adhesive tape or hot glue, and applies labels according to the job ticket.

Forms sample products by hand using adhesive tape or hot glue.

Sets up and operates shrink wrapping equipment. Packs wrapped product in boxes and applies tape and labels.

Weighs printed material on the counting scale.

Operates the hand-held air hammer.

Operates paper banding machine.

Assists the operator on the folder, stitcher trimmer, and cutter when needed.

Completes bindery portion of the job ticket and label information.

Assists in the gluing department as required.

Performs job duties in accordance with all federal, state, local, and company safety rules.

Performs other job duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must have high school diploma or G.E.D.

No prior experience or training.

Must have the ability to read and interpret
documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions,
and procedure manuals.

Must have the ability to perform basic arithmetic
including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Must have basic personal computer skills.

Must be able to
maintain good attendance.

Must be willing to work
overtime as needed; significant overtime may be required during busy
periods.

Must pass basic reading
test.

Must have the ability
to meet and/or pass the minimum requirement on a mechanical test or have
demonstrated mechanical aptitude through prior work experience.

Must pass color vision
test.

Must pass color hue
test.

Must be able to perform
all essential functions of this job with or without reasonable
