Neogen is seeking a Bioinformatician with a NGS and microbiology background. The ideal candidate will have experience with NGS workflows, design and analysis; PCR; oligonucleotide design and software tools. The candidate will be responsible for designing new genomics services, overseeing internal sequencing requests, troubleshooting QC samples, and maintaining databases. Programming script interpretation and writing is a plus. The position will report to Lansing, MI, but can be remote.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversee scheduling of internal sequencing requests.Work with Genomics R&D team to establish methods centered on genome characterization and delivery of marketable genomic services including facilitating scale-up of new methods.Work with Molecular R&D team to identify unique nucleic acid targets for product development.Actively survey literature on new bioinformatic analytical technologies.Collaborate with information technology team to develop requirements and processes for new and existing products to facilitate automation where possible.Provide oral and written reports to relevant management.Aid in technical transfer of unique Genomics R&D product features and benefits to sales and marketing and assist in training and other activities to support effective implementation for the benefit of customers.Review output data and reports from current and future software platforms.Identify problems with current software and develop improvements or work with relevant parties, IT or outside vendors, to resolve issue.

Qualifications
Ph.D. in the field of Genomics, Molecular Biology, Computer Science or related with experience in bioinformatic analysis; or a Master of Science degree in Genomics, Molecular Biology, Computer Science or related with experience in bioinformatic analysis.Experience with bioinformatic skills necessary for the analysis of nest generation sequencing, assembly of genomes and Blasting.Proficiency with one or more DNA manipulation/analysis software, including Genome Analysis Tool Kit, Burrows Wheeler Alignment, Bowtie, SAMtools, bamtools, Tophat, SIFT, LiftOver, Geneious Primer, and/or DNAStar.Coding experience with languages; C/C++, JAVA, Fortan, R, Perl, and/or Python a plus.Proficiency with MS Office products.Good communication skills, both oral and written.

We are seeking a Bioinformatics Scientist to provide services in support of the overall functions of the Laboratory of Immune System Biology (LISB).
Responsibilities
• Provide a variety of support using computational analysis, integration, and modeling of diverse
data sets, to include microarray, bulk and single-cell RNAseq, ATAC-seq, flow and CyTOF
phenotyping, serum proteome, SNP genotyping, and microbiome profiling.
• Provide data analysis using a “Bottom up” dynamical modeling, for example, starting from
networks of molecular/cellular interactions.
• Work and serve as the main point of contact with NIH/NIAID IT and high-performance
computing teams to set up, develop, and maintain necessary computational infrastructure and
tools for research.
• Assist with writing of scientific manuscripts.
• Assist with preparation of scientific presentations for both internal team members and outside at
scientific conferences.
Qualifications
• Ph.D. in computational biology, statistics, bioinformatics, systems biology, biophysics, or
relevant disciplines with hands-on research experience with bioinformatics and the analysis and
modeling of large-scale data sets.
• Expert knowledge of statistics and quantitative modeling.
• Expert knowledge of computer programming skills with proficiency in R and at least one
scripting language (Perl/Python/Ruby).
• Solid experience with database design and construction, and dynamical system theory and
modeling are pluses.
• Proficiency in C/C++ and/or Java as well as experience with multiple OS platforms (Windows,
MAC, Linux) are pluses.
• Research experience or formal training in the biomedical sciences is a plus.
• Strong organizational skills and able to prioritize.
• Strong communication skills - presenting and sharing data at meetings will be required.

The Harvard Chan Bioinformatics Core (HBC) is a center for bioinformatics research, services and training at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. We work closely with biomedical scientists across Harvard to implement approaches for analysis, interpretation, visualization, and dissemination of scientific discoveries using high-throughput omics data.
