Specific techniques may include, but are not limited to, human peripheral mononuclear cell isolation; isolation of DNA, RNA, and proteins from nasal swab or other primary samples; immunochemistry and immunofluorescence, virus titration and purification, antibody ELISA, and immunoprecipation assays; virus neutralization assays; PCR and RT‐PCR; real‐time PCR, DNA plasmid preparation and purification, and transient cell transfection, cloning and reverse genetics. + Conducts research independently under the guidance of the Principal Investigator, including planning, and conducting of experiments, data analysis and peer reviewed publication of data. + Prepares various media, stock supplies, and other reagents for use in the laboratory. + Assists in the analysis and interpretation of data. + Prepares summaries of laboratory findings to be used in reports and papers to be presented at scientific meetings and/or publication in scientific journals. + Actively participates in the preparation of manuscripts, abstracts, and/or posters. May co‐author publications or abstracts. Presents findings at scientific meetings and conferences. + Maintains accurate, daily records of experiments. + May interact and/or collaborate with scientists from other organizations or institutions involved in similar or related research projects. + Interacts with students and other laboratory personnel in the use of sophisticated laboratory equipment and in the performance of specialized procedures, techniques, etc. + Responsible for quality control of the laboratory including upkeep and routine maintenance of equipment. + Orders and maintains laboratory supplies and equipment including chemicals, biological materials, liquid nitrogen, etc. + May be required to handle biological materials, radioactive materials, carcinogens, toxins, infectious agents, recombinant DNA materials, acids, biological wastes, etc. + Required to perform computer analysis of data and use computer and computer software to prepare data for publication. + Performs other duties as assigned by the supervisor, such as monitoring chemical and radiological hazards, conducting and reporting operational radiation surveys, etc. **What You Will Need** **:** + Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology or related field with at least two years' experience or Master's degree with at least one year experience of laboratory-based training in Molecular Biology or a closely related field. + Experience in molecular virology and reverse genetics systems are required. + Excellent written skills and experience in oral presentations. + Professional knowledge of the theories, principles, and methods of a scientific specialty or subspecialty and related disciplines, such as biology, microbiology, chemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, immunology, virology, genetics, biochemistry, etc. + Professional knowledge of and skill in performing a wide variety of complex procedures and techniques, such as tissue culture, DNA, RNA, and protein isolation, purification, and analysis, DNA sequencing, gene cloning, production of influenza virus plasmid‐based rescue sets, and protein analyses including western blots, and immunoprecipitation. + Direct experience with a variety of molecular biology and sterile tissue culture techniques. **What We Offer:** Guidehouse offers a comprehensive, total rewards package that includes competitive compensation and a flexible benefits package that reflects our commitment to creating a diverse and supportive workplace.
