**Job Summary**
As a Virologist III, you will be joining a dynamic team performing cutting-edge research across multiple biological disciplines. The successful candidate will leverage their expertise and experience in virology to ideate, propose, and support to government and commercial programs. Operating in a collaborative environment, you will provide invaluable support to laboratory and literature-based studies and will help to mentor and train other staff. You will actively identify, capture, and lead projects focused on the development, evaluation, and implementation of materials, devices, and techniques designed to detect and mitigate the effects of chemical, biological, and radiological hazards. This full-time position will be located in Columbus, Ohio, with regular travel to West Jefferson, Ohio.
**Responsibilities**
+ Leverage skills and education to identify, propose, and secure new projects to promote on contract growth and generate new revenue streams in applied virology.
+ Design and lead laboratory efforts with moderately sized teams of laboratory staff working in biological safety level (BSL)-2 and BSL-3 environments.
+ Work directly with project managers and customers to determine and execute study objectives and deliverables, including technical reports, manuscripts, and presentations.
+ Review, assimilate, collate, and translate data into key study findings. Identify gaps in current knowledge and leverage collective expertise and experience to drive the state of the art forward.
+ Troubleshoot experiments using experience and scientific literature.
+ Mentor lab personnel in virology and cell culture.
+ Follow established safety guidelines to identify potential hazards and to safely work with hazardous/infectious (risk group (RG)-2 and -3) materials; write and submit experimental safety plans and hazard analyses, as appropriate.
+ Apply experience in virology to novel multi-disciplinary (e.g., molecular biology, toxinology, cell biology, and microbiology) challenges.
Some domestic travel is anticipated.
**Key Qualifications**
+ PhD in virology or any related life science field with three or more years of laboratory experience in viral propagation.
+ Five or more years of experience in a laboratory-based facility and a proven ability to plan and conduct research studies.
+ Proven innovative thought, with an ability to pose novel research and development ideas in virology and adjacent fields.
+ Proven ability to conduct experiments according to standard operating procedures.
+ Excellent oral and written communication skills.
+ Proven ability to propose and secure research funding.
+ Ability to succinctly assimilate and communicate complex scientific data for customer and end user needs.
+ Ability to work in a team environment, mentor and train other staff members, and openly collaborate with colleagues across multiple disciplines.
+ Proven processes for collecting and maintaining accurate and detailed laboratory records (e.g., operating in accordance with a quality management system or framework).
+ Sole U.S. citizenship, with the ability to obtain and maintain required government security clearances (TS/SCI) as a condition of employment.
+ Ability and willingness to work in BSL-2 and -3 laboratories and to receive immunizations that may be required to perform BSL-3 work; hands-on experience working in a BSL-3 or higher laboratory is highly preferred.
+ Sufficiently medically fit to work in the laboratory to perform assigned duties including the ability to wear personal protection equipment (PPE), lift up to 50 pounds, and work in the proximity of hazardous/infectious materials.

+ Currently possesses or has held (and can reinstate) government security clearance.
+ Practical experience working with diverse and/or emerging viruses of importance to public health, agriculture, or the environment; additional experience with bacterial fungal pathogens and/or toxins may also be relevant to this position.
+ Practical experience recovering viruses from environmental (and other challenging) matrices.
+ Practical experience in bioaerosol experimentation.
+ Experience handling one or more of the following: coronavirus, VEE TC-83, adenovirus, orthopox viruses, etc.
+ Experience working within laboratory quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO17025, GLP).

What You'll Do:
The Pilot Plant Technician, working in a 12-hour, night-shift (7pm-7am) operation, is responsible for operating chemical processing equipment and instrumentation, charging raw materials, handling chemicals, and providing valuable technical information for chemical engineers and other internal customers.
The Pilot Plant supports all Lubrizol business segments, providing exposure to numerous process development engineers improving products with a variety of chemistries and process equipment. Furthermore, we must be competent working in a range of development environments; for example, work varies from process/product development work in a lab using 1-12 liter flasks to a development-focused plant working with up to 1000 gallon reactors.
The Pilot Plant Technician works with process development engineers on new product and process development, raw material qualification and process safety improvement projects. Additionally, they may produce material for market, specifically low volume products, intermediaries, or market development quantities to satisfy external customer needs.
What We're Looking For:
Safely operate and work with industrial equipment using the proper PPE and safety procedures.
Process chemical products using batch sheet instructions.
Ability to understand, read, use, change process parameters in the field and remotely through DCS
Set up and process raw materials in development lab using piping, glassware and other lab equipment according to written instructions and diagrams drafted by engineer.
Collect samples and conduct lab analyses (colorimetric titrations, viscosity measurements, etc.) according to instructions outlined by engineers or supervisor and accurately record the data.
Load and unload material containers (pails, drums, bags, totes).
Clean/prepare equipment including Lock Out Tag Out prior to maintenance.
Participate in plant emergency response team (ERT) with the requirement of successfully completing the 36 Hour Fire Course test and state test.
Track/record process information and production data.
Troubleshoot equipment, processes, etc.
Routinely perform safety audits, inspections, and general housekeeping (5S).
Additional duties as assigned.
Skills That Make a Difference:
High school diploma or equivalent from an accredited school.
5+ years previous experience in manufacturing and/or chemical industry.
Understanding of hazardous materials and safety procedures (MSDS, JSA's, etc.)
Strong interpersonal communication skills (verbal/written).
Ability to plan tasks, work independently, and display individual initiative.
Willing/able to occasionally wear SCBA.
Proven ability to think critically, troubleshoot, problem solve and recommend process improvements.

The Bat Ecologist will work as part of a multidisciplinary team. The ideal candidate will work independently, manage multiple tasks, and exhibit strong scientific writing skills. Requirements of this position include but are not limited to field work, data management, technical report writing and review, client management, and providing expert level consultation. The Bat Ecologist will be responsible for maintaining permits to conduct bat surveys and ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations. This role involves working closely with other ecologists, environmental scientists, and clients to ensure the protection and management of bat species, particularly in response to development and conservation projects. Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Client Consultation
Advise clients on bat conservation considerations for site development.
Provide guidance on state and federally protected bat species regulations including permitting, coordination, and mitigation.
Assist clients with the permitting process related to bat conservation, including Section 10 permits.
Field Work and Surveys
Conduct presence/absence surveys (as permitted) for bat species using methods such as mist-netting, acoustic monitoring, and other methods.
Identify bat species in the field and in the lab using echolocation call analysis and morphological characteristics.
Conduct roost surveys, emergence counts, and habitat assessments.
Maintain equipment inventory and ensure proper storage and transportation.
Assist with other natural resources project work, as needed.
Data Management and Reporting
Tabulate and analyze collected field data using computer software

Work Environment
This candidate will need to collaborate effectively with team leads and other staff. This candidate needs to be able to complete project work independently, with minimal supervision. This position consists of field work and office work. On an annual basis, work duties could be up to 50% field efforts and 50% office. During the field season, approximately April/May through October, this position could expect to work up to 75-100% in the field. Field work assignments may include consecutive days working outdoors with a field crew in all types of weather conditions and sometimes in remote and challenging locations. A typical field workday consists of 8-12 hours which may include irregular hours and weekend work. Overnight travel and working for extended periods in different states is project specific but may be required. Office work assignments occur throughout the year and may include field preparation, data analysis, report writing, or equipment maintenance and typically consists of an 8-hour day.
This position is a remote role, meaning employees will work remotely. Standard office equipment will be provided to work in the office and at home - a dedicated space at home to work is also required. What You'll Do:
* The Pilot Plant Technician, working in a 12-hour, night-shift (7pm-7am) operation, is responsible for operating chemical processing equipment and instrumentation, charging raw materials, handling chemicals, and providing valuable technical information for chemical engineers and other internal customers.
* The Pilot Plant supports all Lubrizol business segments, providing exposure to numerous process development engineers improving products with a variety of chemistries and process equipment. Furthermore, we must be competent working in a range of development environments; for example, work varies from process/product development work in a lab using 1-12 liter flasks to a development-focused plant working with up to 1000 gallon reactors.
* The Pilot Plant Technician works with process development engineers on new product and process development, raw material qualification and process safety improvement projects. Additionally, they may produce material for market, specifically low volume products, intermediaries, or market development quantities to satisfy external customer needs.
What We're Looking For:
* Safely operate and work with industrial equipment using the proper PPE and safety procedures.
* Process chemical products using batch sheet instructions.
* Ability to understand, read, use, change process parameters in the field and remotely through DCS
* Set up and process raw materials in development lab using piping, glassware and other lab equipment according to written instructions and diagrams drafted by engineer.
* Collect samples and conduct lab analyses (colorimetric titrations, viscosity measurements, etc.) according to instructions outlined by engineers or supervisor and accurately record the data.
* Load and unload material containers (pails, drums, bags, totes).
* Clean/prepare equipment including Lock Out Tag Out prior to maintenance.
* Participate in plant emergency response team (ERT) with the requirement of successfully completing the 36 Hour Fire Course test and state test.
* Track/record process information and production data.
* Troubleshoot equipment, processes, etc.
* Routinely perform safety audits, inspections, and general housekeeping (5S).
* Additional duties as assigned.
Skills That Make a Difference:
* High school diploma or equivalent from an accredited school.
* 5+ years previous experience in manufacturing and/or chemical industry.
* Understanding of hazardous materials and safety procedures (MSDS, JSA's, etc.)

Venesco LLC is looking for Research Lab Techs to support the 711th Human Performance Wing (711 HPW). Established under the Air Force Research Laboratory, the 711 HPW is comprised of the Human Effectiveness Directorate (RH), the United States Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine (USAFSAM). The Wing delivers unparalleled capability to the Air Force through a combination of world class infrastructure and expertise of its diverse workforce of military, civilian and contractor personnel encompassing 75 occupational specialties including science and engineering, occupational health and safety, medical professions, technicians, educators, and business operations and support.
Responsibilities:
1.2.1 The contractor employee shall maintain sanitation of housing rooms, cages, and racks in experimental areas.
1.2.2 The contractor employee shall provide basic husbandry duties in accordance with all DoD, Federal and local regulations.
1.2.3 The contractor employee shall assist Attending Veterinarian (AV) and Principal Investigators (PIs) in performing some surgery and microsurgery on animals.
1.2.4 The contractor employee shall collect experimental data from animals to include blood pressure, weight, blood analyses or other tests based off project support.

Position Summary
