What We Need:
We are seeking a detail-oriented individual to fill the role of Greenhouse Research Technician at our Research facility in Kent, OH. This position will conduct research, innovation and development of new grower-focused products. Day-to-day activities of this position include planning experiments and trials, collecting data, writing reports, and greenhouse maintenance and sanitation. Additional duties include procuring plant material, lab and greenhouse consumables. Although most product development is carried out in the greenhouse, this position does involve some laboratory and post-harvest work. This individual, by nature, must be innovative, have a strong work ethic, and be a team player.
Areas of focus for the Greenhouse Research Technician role will include (but not be limited to):
Conducts and assists with research experiments in the greenhouse for propagation, container production of bedding plants, or hydroponic production (deep-water culture and nutrient film technique) of bedding plants or leafy greens.
Manages greenhouse environmental controls.
Will contribute ideas, experiments and findings to research peers on a weekly basis.
Plans and runs greenhouse trials by setting up, trial maintenance and data collection, followed by data entry and analysis. Presents findings and data to research team.
Maintain trials, including irrigation, scouting for pests, and application of plant growth regulators and/or insecticides as needed for healthy crop production.
Pour-through methods to measure pH and EC of pot leachate.
Document trials with photos at the beginning and end, including photos of individual plant treatments. Transfer photos to computer and annotate/label crop photos.
Reads and reviews research literature to generate innovative ideas for new product development.
Identifies production or post-harvest related problems within industry, reviews literature to learn possible solutions and uses the information to improve or develop product solutions.
Aseptic culturing techniques (including media).
Maintain greenhouse and lab areas in a clean and organized manner.
Maintain inventory and requisition supplies and chemicals.
Who We Are Looking For:
An individual with a Bachelor's or Master's degree in horticulture, environmental sciences, biology or botany is preferred.
An individual who has a minimum of 1 to 2 years greenhouse floriculture or CEA experience is preferred.
An individual with knowledge of greenhouse operations and management is preferred.
An individual who has experience using Microsoft Office, Adobe Photoshop and SAS statistics is beneficial.
An individual who is able to to learn new techniques and carry out experiments with minimal supervision.
An individual who has an existing pesticide applicator license is a plus.
An individual who is able to effectively communicate and collaborate with other researchers.
An individual who can lift products and materials up to 60 pounds.
An individual who can effectively communicate experiment and other results to the research technical staff.

Venesco LLC is looking for Research Lab Techs to support the 711th Human Performance Wing (711 HPW). Responsibilities:
1.2.1 The contractor employee shall maintain sanitation of housing rooms, cages, and racks in experimental areas.
1.2.2 The contractor employee shall provide basic husbandry duties in accordance with all DoD, Federal and local regulations.
1.2.3 The contractor employee shall assist Attending Veterinarian (AV) and Principal Investigators (PIs) in performing some surgery and microsurgery on animals.

Department Description:
Wilson Health's Laboratory Services offers testing for both inpatients and outpatients. Our lab is accredited by the ACHC - Accreditation Commission of Health Care and holds a CLIA Certificate. Our Wilson Health Lab performs hematology, chemistry, microbiology, and blood bank testing.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
* Interprets orders and specimen or test preparation requirements, instructs patients or nursing personnel, prepares requisitions or enters orders and other data into Laboratory Information System. Monitors orders for specimen collection in LIS.
* Collects venous and capillary blood specimen and some culture specimens on outpatients and other sites as needed.
* Receives, evaluates, centrifuges and processes laboratory specimens for routine and non-routine analysis and routes specimens to work areas or to reference laboratories. Prints reference laboratory manifest logs.
* Maintains communication with reference laboratory.
* Maintains supply of specimen collection and processing materials. In-processes and shelves supplies.
* Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of phlebotomy work areas and equipment such as workbenches, specimen collection trays, refrigerators and storage sites.

Additional responsibilities including weekend care, power washing, cleaning, unloading and loading pigs, and routine barn maintenance are expected in this position. The successful candidate should be self-motivated, detail oriented, and work well independently and in a team environment. Candidates with previous livestock and/or agricultural experience are preferred, but not necessary. Basic computer and technology skills would be a plus. The candidate should be able to lift 50+ lbs. repetitively, comfortable working with pigs that can be greater than 300 lbs. and be able to work weekends and holidays.
This position is part-time but has the potential to be a full-time position.
Primary Responsibilities
Assist in daily pig care; check, identify, and administer treatment to sick pigs, monitor room temperatures, feed levels, water meters, and ventilation settings
Provide support for research measurement days and between research studies
Collect pig health status, feed usage, pig bodyweights, and other notable observations related to research trials
Regularly handle, restrain, move, and load pigs of various sizes (12 -300+ lbs.)
Pressure wash and disinfect animal rooms as well as load out chutes and hallways in between animal groups
Maintain flexibility to work at different research barns based on scheduling and project needs
Operate a tractor, spray weeds, mow lawn, manage and rotate compost bays
Learn and understand feeding equipment and environmental controls
Wash and disinfect scales, buckets, boots, panels, and other equipment regularly
Carry out and understand the importance of all biosecurity procedures including showering in and out of research barns
Perform other job duties assigned that are found to be necessary by the barn manager including miscellaneous maintenance of facility and equipment: fix broken water lines and drinkers, change light bulbs, regular greasing of fans and other equipment
Set up rooms to receive new pigs for research trials
Expected hours consist of 15-25+ hours per week, including weekend and holiday hours

The University of Rio Grande / Rio Grande Community College announces an opening for a Nursing Lab Assistant. This full-time, 12-month administrative position collaborates with the RN Nursing faculty to provide learning experiences that facilitate students' development of psychomotor and clinical reasoning skills. This position provides initial instruction, reinforces and guides student performance with previously learned nursing skills, and evaluates student's learning and performance. The position serves as an additional resource to the Simulation Specialist with regards to developing and running clinical simulations.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
* Coordinates day to day activities and services of the nursing skills lab area including scheduling, lab set up, management of lab equipment and supplies.
* Coordinates laboratory operations by developing, ordering, maintaining and setting up materials, equipment and instructional aides;
* Supervises students and/or coordinates the work of other personnel related to nursing skills.
* Assists instructors and/or students in the nursing skills lab.
* Evaluates student skill performance in the nursing skills lab.
* Ensures that the lab/classroom is clean, safe, and organized; promotes safe lab practices.
* Repairs or coordinates the repair of lab equipment as required.
* Develops the lab supplies budget line for the nursing programs each year
* Researches, evaluates, and recommends new lab materials and equipment.
* Collaborates with the Simulation Specialist to provide learning opportunities in simulation to promote the development of critical thinking, clinical judgement and clinical reasoning skills in nursing.
* Acts as a liaison between nursing skills lab personnel and the Nursing Program Director.
* Complies with the ACEN accreditation requirements.
* Serves on School of Nursing ACEN committees with Nursing Faculty members.
* Attends Nursing Faculty of the Whole Meetings
* Establishes and updates laboratory policies and procedures.
* Prepares and maintains a variety of records and reports.
* Assists the Simulation Specialists with simulations which can include set up, running the simulation, pre-brief and debriefing students.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
* Nursing skills, equipment, and technology used in the nursing area.
* Nursing Lab facilities and services
* Nursing Lab equipment and supplies.
* Safety standards and practices used in lab/classroom settings.
* Processes for maintaining and/or repairing lab equipment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
* Exposure to hazards related to working in medical waste/sharps environment.
* Occasional lifting of objects up to 30 pounds.
* Potential for exposure to contaminated blood and/or body fluid.
* Subject to walking, sitting, standing, bending, reaching, kneeling, and stooping.
* Work is performed in a standard office and lab environment
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
* BSN required, MSN preferred (or willing to obtain)
* Two (2) years experience in acute care nursing
* Valid State of Ohio Registered Nurse license

In an environment of continuous quality improvement, the Laboratory Assistant is responsible for receiving and processing specimens, cleaning lab equipment, maintaining supplies and performing various clerical duties. Exhibits the MHS Standards of Excellence and exercises strict confidentiality at all times.
Job Functions:
Receives Laboratory samples and checks them for order accuracy. Troubleshoots as needed.
Utilizes the ability to prioritize STAT, urgent, timed and routine orders.
Maintains/orders adequate stock of supplies.
Utilizes the computer system that communicates between our outlying facilities and Meditech. Performs, orders and/or sends orders from the Atlas and Quest system to Meditech.
Registers using short form and order appropriate tests.
Labels, receives, centrifuges if needed, and aliquots tubes appropriately.
Assists with lab clerical duties including recalling results, faxing reports, and calling of alert values to physicians.
Evaluates specimen integrity before analysis.
Properly documents and reports NCE investigation/incident reports.
Assists with training new employees and students.
Cleans lab equipment including centrifuges, counters, and printers.
Utilizes Meditech to create site batches for specimen transport/order entry into Quest system.
Retrieves specimens from the Laboratory Automated Specimen Transport Line.
Assumes all other duties and responsibilities as necessary.
Qualifications
Minimum Education/Experience Required:
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required
Minimum of 1 year hospital phlebotomy experience preferred
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required - will obtain during hospital orientation
Maintains compliance in RQI required.
