The Birth Center Technician provides direct patient care under the direction of the Registered Nurse as defined by the Montana State Board of Nursing and in accordance with the mission of Livingston HealthCare. Schedule: PRN 12 Hour Shifts 7a-7p or 7p-7a Compensation: $21.20/hr + DOE PRN Differentials Shift Differentials ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist Providers, Nurses, and other medical personnel with providing the best quality patient care possible to every patient. Monitor vital signs and performs patient care. Upon completion of interventions, documents accurately and thoroughly in the appropriate area of the patient record. Assist with the safe movement of patients, such as from hospital bed to wheelchair, when necessary. May assist with ambulating patients within patient room and/or hallway. Participates actively in Performance Improvement. Responsible for attending all mandatory in-service classes. Attends a minimum of 80% of all FBC staff meetings, drills, and review sessions. Able to set up and operate FBC equipment independently. Independently performs sterile technique following LHC policies and procedures. ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Floats to other departments as needed. Most often the Family Birth Center staff float to Med/Surg, this can occur 50% or more of the time. FBC Techs are expected to work as a Nurse Assistant and/or sit with patients who are high risk as well as other duties as assigned. Training will be provided for these roles. This is a requirement of being employed by LHC as a FBC Tech. QUALIFICATIONS (Required): High School Diploma or GED. Basic computer skills. BLS certification or successfully obtains within 2 months of hire.
