Summary:
The Cath Lab Technologist is responsible for assisting in diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures in the cardiac catheterization lab. This role involves preparing patients and equipment, monitoring hemodynamic data, assisting physicians during procedures, and ensuring patient safety throughout the process. The technologist operates specialized imaging equipment, maintains sterile technique, and collaborates with the healthcare team to provide high-quality patient care. Essential Work Functions:
Prepare and position patients for cardiac catheterization, angioplasty, stent placement, electrophysiology studies, and other interventional procedures
Assist physicians during procedures by passing catheters, wires, balloons, and stents, and operating fluoroscopy and hemodynamic monitoring equipment
Operate and maintain imaging equipment, contrast injectors, and hemodynamic monitoring systems, ensuring proper functionality
Scrub in and assist with sterile field setup, ensuring adherence to infection control and procedural protocols
Perform sheath removal and hemostasis using manual compression or closure devices as directed
Maintain accurate documentation, including patient records, imaging data, and equipment logs
Assist with inventory management, stocking supplies, and ensuring proper storage of sterile instruments and medications
Adhere to radiation safety protocols, ensuring proper use of lead aprons, shields, and dosimeters

- 55% Critical thinking, academic theory, facilitation/leadership abilities, and advanced customer service skills. Determining the reliability of all analytic data before releasing as patient measurement for diagnosis and treatment. - 20% Quality assurance functions and equipment maintenance functions. Performs quality control checks on each procedure, equipment, reagents, stains, etc. Documents and interprets all QC data used by technologists to determine validity of patient results and verify instrument performance. Documents and reviews maintenance logs to assure optimum system performance, guaranteeing valid data and eliminating costly, time-consuming equipment failures.

Your role:

2+ years of experience servicing medical equipment; general biomedical, patient monitoring, blood pressure monitors, defibrillators, or infusion pump experience highly preferred.
Associates degree in electronics or equivalent combination of education and experience; BSEE/BSEET/BSME/BSMET preferred.
Your skills include working knowledge of electronic circuit boards, schematics, processors and computer hardware including applications, programming, and systems functionality. Ability to understand and apply electronic, mechanical, and networking theory to install, diagnose, and repair equipment, including knowledge and use of all necessary tools and test equipment is also required.

The hourly pay range for this position in North Carolina is $24.88 to $39.81, plus overtime eligible.

Battelle's Life Science Research is seeking a full-time technician to work in Pathology to perform necropsy procedures on small and large animal, to trim tissues for histopathology process and generate data for various types of studies. This position is Monday through Friday and will require overtime at nights, weekends and to be on call; schedule also includes holidays.
**Responsibilities**
+ **TECHNICAL:**
+ The primary role is to perform necropsy examinations of small and large laboratory animals; to include gross necropsy, tissue collection, fixation, and labeling of specimens.
+ Work with highly hazardous biological/toxic materials in Biological Safety Level 2 (BSL-2) and Biological Safety Level 3 (BSL-3) laboratories.
+ Process tissues for the histopathology team following established SOPs and safety protocols; cross-train in histology (e.g., embedding, sectioning, staining) to assist histology workflows to provide flexible coverage.
+ Contributing to the development and validation of equipment and necropsy activities.
+ Understanding and performing dilutions including mathematical calculations involved.

In This Role:
You will be using automated analyzers, microscopes, and other laboratory diagnostic tools to perform analyses and tests that diagnose animal illnesses, injuries and diseases in support of veterinarian animal treatment.
You will be performing diagnostic tests on blood, urine, fecal or pet biopsy samples that we receive in our lab by the thousands, every day.
You will be responsible for setting up and running lab tests and reading and releasing results according to SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
You can expect to specialize in one or more of the following areas:
Hematology:
Testing cell-related components of blood samples to enumerate and identify their cellular components, including the microscopic evaluation of blood smears and the use of automated and manual counting techniques.
Chemistry / Endocrinology:
Testing blood and body fluids for various analytes, utilizing automated instrumentation.
Urinalysis:
Analysis and evaluation of chemical and microscopic components of urine samples, using automated instrumentation and manual techniques.
Cytology:
Processing blood and body fluids for microscopic examination by pathologists. Includes slide preparation and staining, utilizing manual and automated counting techniques.
Immunology / Serology:
Testing blood and other samples for the presence of viral and bacterial disease by detecting antibodies (AB) or antigens (AG).
What You'll Need to Succeed:
You are able to work the overnight shift
You possess a High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. A degree in a Science-related field is preferred.
It is not required to work in our lab, but if you were a Veterinary Technician (RVT, LVT, CVT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT or MT), this experience and education would be a plus.
Ideally, you will have experience setting up, running, and reading lab tests, and operating laboratory equipment (microscopes, pipetting and / or clinical diagnostic analyzers).
You have a positive attitude and love to bring that energy into the lab every day to support your colleagues

You concentrate on the details and can work reliably and precisely
You have a great sense of team spirit and responsibility
Able to meet the physical requirements that go with working in a lab - standing and sitting for extended periods of time, phone & computer use, extended reach, lifting up to 50lb, and specific vision ability - close, color, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
This is a laboratory, so there is potential exposure to biohazards, agents known to cause zoonotic diseases, and hazardous chemicals.

Regulatory Requirements
Minimum: Associate Degree in medical technology or relates science.

Certification in Medical Technology (MT/MLS) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) by an accredited agency or the equivalent.
Language Skills
