Responds to service calls to evaluate, diagnose, perform repair/planned maintenance (PM) on progressively complex customer's biomedical equipment, and drives customer satisfaction through Service Excellence. This position works 3rd shift, hours: Sunday night -Thursday morning 10pm-9am or Wednesday night - Sunday morning 10pm-9am
Responsibilities :
Evaluate complex, customer biomedical equipment issues, and implement appropriate repairs.
Perform planned maintenance (PM), safety and environmental inspections, and maintain effective customer relations.
Follow and guide others as needed regarding appropriate GE policies, procedures, hospital protocol, and complete necessary documentation.
Effectively communicate and partner with teammates and colleagues.
Establish and engage in proactive daily communications with customers, to ensure resolution and proper follow
up, leading to customer satisfaction.
Implement GE/customer facility contract, supporting business goals and objectives.
Lead, instruct, and assist technicians on basic and complex repairs and resolution.
Work as a member of local team to provide efficient service delivery to all accounts within assigned area.
Share on-call/pager responsibility.
Document all repair actions and submit reports/summaries according to schedule.
Ensure proper care of spares, tools and test equipment, and ensure calibration.
Maintain approved parts inventory.
Manage vendors' service delivery processes in compliance with GE policies, as instructed.
Enhance and maintain technical knowledge of current standards, codes, and procedures regarding safe and effective use of medical equipment through formal instruction.
May perform role of Site Leader (e.g., direct activities of fellow Biomedical Technicians assigned to site, engage in a more interactive customer relationship, which may include Safety Committee or other participation, with regard to overall account activity).
Meet Health and Human Services, Environment Health and Safety requirements, and/or all other applicable regulatory requirements.
Qualifications :
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field and 2+ years of experience servicing medical equipment;
OR equivalent military education and 2+ years of experience servicing electrical or mechanical equipment;
OR High School Diploma/GED and 4+ years of experience servicing medical equipment.
Analytical and communication skills with the ability to communicate technical issues to the customer in an easy to understand manner.
Special Physical Requirements: Candidate must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 35 lbs. unassisted and frequently bend, stoop, twist, climb, crouch/squat, kneel/crawl, sit and stand for long periods of time. Candidate must also be able to reach at, above and below shoulder level, flex/extend neck and have good hand and finger dexterity. Specific vision abilities required by this job may include color, close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
Willingness to be available ""after hours"", or work a rotating On-Call schedule, including weekends, for critical issues and coverage, as necessary.

Leidos is in search of an experienced Instrument Technician to join the Palmer Laboratory team in Antarctica! This position is responsible for assisting in the safe operation and maintenance of laboratories in support of USAP scientists at Palmer Station, Antarctica. Laboratories include analytical chemistry, computer, microbiology, microscopy, molecular biology, radioisotope, seawater aquaria and general use laboratories configured to support atmospheric physics, geology, and glaciology projects.
**This position will require deployment to Antarctica, and has a contract length of 7 months from approximately October to April (Austral Summer). The candidate in the position must complete the physical and dental examinations required by the NSF for deploying to Antarctica. **
Due to contract requirements, US Citizenship is required.
Must obtain a Public Trust security clearance prior to start date. This process could take up to 4 months.

The Challenge:
Assists in review of research requirements, planning and scheduling of laboratory support for science projects.
Assists in researching, evaluating, justifying, and procuring laboratory and field instruments and equipment.
Assists in receipt and inventory of capital equipment, instruments, materials and supplies.
Provides input to the S&TPS Peninsula Implementation Manager on suggested improvements to the laboratories and the associated systems that would enhance their use as research facilities.
Briefs scientists on safe laboratory practices and care and maintenance of USAP owned instrumentation.
Assists in monitoring the receipt, inventory, and proper use and disposal of hazardous laboratory chemicals including radioisotopes.
Assists in segregating and packaging laboratory solid wastes for proper disposal, reuse, and/or recycling.
Assists in the installation, calibration, and maintenance of instruments and equipment.
Assists in maintaining appropriate and accurate inventories of spare parts.
Assists in packaging of capital equipment, instruments, materials, and supplies for recalibration, repair, or replacement.
Assists in scheduling and coordinating the fabrication of equipment and other support requests made by science projects.
Assists in providing cryogens, monitoring the safe use of cryogens, and monitoring a cryogenic supplies inventory.
Conducts briefings on research and tours of the laboratory facilities for distinguished visitors.
Responsible for implementing and maintaining a safe workplace program and ensuring that safety is the highest priority on the job site.
Prepares weekly and end of season status reports as necessary.
Performs other duties as required, including community duties such as janitorial, snow removal and emergency response.
Optional: participation on an Emergency Response Team (ERT). Examples are the Fire Brigade, Trauma Team and Search and Rescue.
What Sets You Apart:
Requires deep understanding of and ability to apply principles, theories, and concepts of technical domain and has broad understanding of other related specialty areas.
Typically requires BS and four (4+) years of prior relevant experience or Masters with two (2+) years of prior relevant experience. Experience in lieu of education is accepted.
Must be able to work independently to achieve day-to-day objectives with significant impact on operational results or project deliverables.
Must be a US Citizen or green card holder.
You May Also Have:
Four (4) years of laboratory or observatory technical work experience. Laboratory or observatory technical work should include operational experience utilizing analytical equipment.
A background in an academic research environment providing direct support to science projects is highly desirable.
Previous experience working in Antarctica or another remote research station is desired.

WHAT YOU'LL DO
Respond to machine breakdowns due to electrical malfunctions or hardware/software failure
Conduct preventative maintenance tasks for all electrical equipment and instruments
Draft calibration and preventative maintenance procedures for new and existing instruments
Install and troubleshoot new and modified equipment

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or GED minimum

Understand electricity and electrical theory, possess a working knowledge of computers, computer operating systems, electrical and pneumatic components and devices, and the ability to work safely in electrical panels with up to 480 volts

Installation, maintenance, and configuration of electrical/electronic equipment used in the division. Ensuring the efficient mechanical, instrumentation, and electrical operation of equipment, controls, multiple SCADA systems and remote communications equipment.
Advises Plant Manager concerning the installation, modification, operation, and repair of electrical/electronic equipment.
Oversees or performs maintenance, configuration, adjustment, and repair to a wide variety of electrical/electronic equipment and control systems at treatment facilities/plants, remote pumping/storage stations, and related structures/assets for the assigned division.
Operates and maintains numerous electrical components, switchgear, Variable Frequency Drives (VFD), equipment and breakers which are 3-phase multiple voltages, including and up to medium voltage electrical equipment.
Ensures precise functions of flow, analyzer, and instrumentation equipment of various voltages as low as millivolts.
Verifies, monitors, and assists with electrical/instrumentation work at remote or offsite locations.
Coordinates and participates in response to emergency repairs needed after hours.
Remains in contact via company phone/radio at all times in the event of an emergency.
Responds in an emergency or natural disaster to assist in repairs and troubleshooting processes to keep system functional. Participates in system shutdowns, and diversions of any electrical and instrumentation systems.
Establishes vendor relationships and orders parts and supplies as needed.

Requirements
High school diploma or GED.
Nine (9) years of electrical or electronics experience in an industrial setting, wastewater/water reclamation treatment facility or potable water production facility, including one (1) year in a supervisory capacity.
A valid Florida driver's license.
Must possess one of the following:
A Master's Electrical License.
A Journeyman's Electrical Card.
An Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering.
Preferred Requirements
Water or Wastewater experience.

A Little More About What You Will be Doing
The Instrument Technician is responsible for cleaning and reprocessing a variety endoscopes and accessories, use of the reprocessing machine and all related functions, and maintaining a safe and clean working environment. Assists with cleaning other patient care related equipment including gurneys, stretchers and other equipment and items following infection control policies and procedures.
Primary duties and responsibilities:
Performs and maintains the reprocessing of endoscopes and scope washers.
Identifies problems with equipment and assists in arranging for repairs.
Maintains documentation related to the inventory and repair of endoscopes.
Demonstrates an awareness of the daily schedule and maintains a steady level of efficiency.
Maintains compliance with regulatory standards (OSHA, BBP and biohazard waste removal), accreditation standards, standard methodologies and Center policy and procedures that impact patient, employee and environmental safety, and reports observations of non-compliance.
Implements related infection control practices to prevent cross-contamination.
Performs manual and mechanical cleaning methods, cleaning implements and equipment (automated flushing systems and re-processors).
Performs pre-cleaning and transport of used scopes and accessories.
Use of high standard disinfectants (chemicals, use of test strips, exposure time, shelf and use life).
Demonstrates a solid understanding of endoscopic supplies and equipment.
Performs leakage testing procedures, test methods, and actions required following a failed leak test.
Accurately completes all required logs.
Orders and stocks supply and medical inventory.
Participates in the Center's QAPI program.
Education:
High school diploma or GED preferred.
Completion of a formal or on the job endoscope reprocessing training program and ability to demonstrate proficiency preferred.
Experience:

WHAT YOU'LL DO
* Respond to machine breakdowns due to electrical malfunctions or hardware/software failure
* Conduct preventative maintenance tasks for all electrical equipment and instruments
* Draft calibration and preventative maintenance procedures for new and existing instruments

Required Qualifications

Under supervision, evaluate basic customer biomedical equipment issues, implement appropriate repairs, and as assigned, perform PM and safety/environmental inspections.
May assist more experienced technicians on basic and more complex repairs/resolution.
Effectively communicate and partner with teammates and colleagues.
Follow appropriate GE policies, procedures, hospital protocol, and completes necessary documentation.
Maintain daily communications with customers as directed, to ensure resolution and proper follow up, leading to strong customer relations and ongoing customer satisfaction.
As instructed, implement GE/customer facility contract and supports business goals/objectives.
Work as a member of local team to provide efficient service delivery to all accounts within the assigned area.
When trained, able to share on-call responsibility.
Document all repair actions and submit reports/summaries according to schedule.
Ensure proper care of spares, tools, and test equipment, and ensure calibration.
Enhance and maintain technical knowledge of current standards, codes, and procedures regarding safe and effective use of medical equipment through formal instruction.
Understand and utilize sources of help (i.e., manuals, tech support, Facetime app, online resources) to answer questions when performing PM.
Meet Health and Human Services, Environment Health and Safety requirements, and all other applicable regulatory requirements.

Required Qualifications:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field; OR equivalent military education; OR participant in the formal GEHC Biomed/FE Services Internship, Apprenticeship or Military Externship program; OR High School Diploma/GED and a minimum 2 years of experience servicing electrical, electronics, IT or mechanical equipment.
Analytical and communication skills with the ability to communicate technical issues to the customer in an easy-to-understand manner.
Willingness to be available ""after hours"", or work a rotating On-Call schedule, including weekends, for critical issues and coverage, as necessary.

Qualifications:
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering,
or related field and 4+ years of experience servicing medical equipment;
OR equivalent military education and 4+ years of experience servicing medical equipment;
OR High School Diploma/GED and 6+ years of experience servicing medical equipment.
Proficiency in completing electronic documentation using technological tools (e.g., Ipad, Iphone) and familiar with technological programs (e.g., Microsoft Office).
Experience developing and maintaining good customer relations at all levels (e.g., nurses, doctors, leadership).
Experience interfacing with both internal team members and external customers as part of a solution
based service process.
Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate technical issues to the customer in an easy to understand manner.
Ability to work independently and as a team to implement solutions through problem solving.
