Bishop Heber College company history timeline

1826

Reginald Heber, the Lord Bishop of Calcutta, came to Tiruchirappalli in 1826 on his way to Sri Lanka.

1925

Honours courses in History and Mathematics were introduced in 1925.

1934

Accordingly, Bishop Heber College was closed in 1934 and the Bishop Heber Hall emerged at Madras Christian College, Tambaram.

1964

Doctor Solomon Doraisawmy, who was consecrated Bishop of Tiruchirappalli - Thanjavur Diocese in 1964, plunged heart and soul into the effort to revive the College.

1968

The Department of History is one of the oldest departments established under the able guidance of Doctor M. Sargurudoss, the first Principal and Professor of History in 1968 in Bishop Heber College.

1985

The College started offering programmes in the Self-Financing stream from the year 1985.

2015

In the 3rd cycle Reaccreditation by NAAC, our College ha been Accredited with 'A' Grade with a CGPA of 3.58 on a 4 Point Scale on 3rd March 2015, and our college tops among all the Affiliated Colleges of the Bharathidasan University,Triuchirappalli.

2016

It is very wonderful and remarkable that the college was celebrating its Golden Jubilee in 2016 while receiving all these prestigious awards.

2017

The College has secured 4th rank at National Level Awarded by MHRD in the year 2017.

2019

Ranked 2 for Engineering by JEE Cutoff 2019
