Bishop Lynch High School company history timeline

1963

On Tuesday, November 19, 1963, the first meeting of the Blackfriars Guild was held in the cafeteria.

Bishop Lynch High School opened its doors in the fall of 1963, with 365 freshmen and sophomores enrolled.

1964

The first production took place in the spring of 1964, Edgar Lee Master's Spoon River Anthology.

1966

In May of 1966, the first senior class of 103 students was graduated.

1969

In 1969, Roffino Stadium was completed, fulfilling a dream that began with the opening of the school.

1976

In 1976 the directing reigns were handed over to Brother Roger Shondel, who produced Hello Dolly in the fall of that year.

1991

In 1991, at the departure of Heffernan, Kit became the sole director of the Blackfriars Spring Musical.

1998

In 1998 the Blackfriars produced their first off-campus show, Guys and Dolls, with a cast of nearly 100.

2003

Finally in the spring of 2003 the Blackfriars Guild triumphantly returned to Bishop Lynch to perform in the new McGonigle Theatre.
